Forsberg has turned into one of the best waiver claims I can think of. Best goalie Ottawa's had since Craig Anderson.

If I were GM of the Kraken
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bluspy88</b></div><div>I'm a Flyers fan. Honestly, Hakstol did some good things with some of our young guys and roster as a whole. He started putting Couturier as the top center and he broke out big, he put Provorov and Ghost together for their best years ever each, put G on the LW to boost his production and he had a career year, TK steadily grew under him, and he actually played Nolan Patrick a good bit when he was drafted, including PP time in the regular season and in the playoffs against the Penguins.
But....
He also would bench or move down other players in the line up for Andrew MacDonald who was declining so hard that when Chuck bought him out, he couldn't even get a PTO signing in the NHL pre-pandemic. And play Dale Weise on the top PK (though the team was thinner then too).
I don't really like Hak as a coach but I don't feel like he's a Babcock of terrorizing players, especially younger ones. I have no idea what they are doing with Wright and it seems like a ****ty situation for him. I will say this though. Hak basically survived in Philly as long as he did because Hextall wouldn't fire him. Hextall was a mixed bag here, but after they left it became apparent that Hakstol was basically Hextall on the bench and in the line up decisions. I know Canes fans felt Ron Francis drafted ok/good but also was weird about roster/line up deployment. So, I'm curious if maybe this is a Francis problem and Hakstol is really just the puppet/figurehead. I hope he figures it out, I personally like Wright and don't buy the "bad attitude" thing, I think its totally normal to be disappointed about how his draft status went after all the buzz which really isn't his fault as much as the media coverage. He's a kid who plays hockey and likes playing hockey, can't control those narratives and weird "character" things the boys club GMs think about.</div></div>
Good point here, it might not be all on Hakstol. I'm calling him out specifically because most teams seem to be, the GM makes the roster and the coach makes the lineup. But maybe it's different here. In any event, I think someone needs to step in and make something happen.

I was surprised when Givani Smith passed through waivers. He's a 4th line plug but he's young, strong, hits, fights and sticks up for his teammate's. Plus he has a cheap contract.

Toronto trade and different pairings
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bluspy88</b></div><div>Honestly I think the only thing that really makes this a murky trade for me is that Toronto already got rid of Kapanen once, and he's been arguably worse in Pittsburgh. So, if you're Toronto: why are you bringing him back? What does he do that they haven't compensated for? Kerfoot plays center which makes him way more valuable and I think he's a serviceable player (Toronto fans can correct me if not but rn they want everyone's heads on pikes). I could see the Anderson-Archibald thing though tbh.</div></div>
Generally speaking, I don't think Toronto would be opposed to bringing him back but it probably would have to be on a cheaper deal. They wouldn't be giving up Kerfoot for him for sure.
Kapanen and Johnsson were both cap casualties and were replaced by Mikheyev and Engvall, if they were to come back they would definetly need to be on cheaper deals. I don't think the Leafs trade Joey Anderson though, he's doing very well in the AHL this season and could be a super cheap replacement for Engvall.

Adds and drops by the deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MajesticWalrus</b></div><div>Everybody's complaining but Minnesota had more than enough nhl level defenseman before the season began and now Addison is breaking out for them on top of that. Who Minnesota fans use to complain about too when penguins fans would use him in trades on here in the past. Its a fine trade for brodin. He's not worth more than kane. Someone might overpay for him though if he is moved just cause theyre desperate doesnt mean i would. Everybody crolies too much on here and always say its an underpay but in real life no one was giving 3 firsts for debrincat</div></div>
Let me get this straight. By your logic. Because the Wild had too many defenseman to start the season and had to move out one of them in order to make room for Addison, and his subsequent emergence, Minnesota should move out their best defenseman and Addison's current D-partner?
Are you trying to be that stupid or are you just trying too hard to be a troll?
Because Minnesota would move out every defenseman and defensive prospect they have; including both Addison, Faber, Lambos, the entire kit and cabootle of our defensive prospect pool before trading Brodin.
Since you are seemingly unaware of who Jonas Brodin is. Let me enlighten you. Jonas Brodin is an <strong>elite</strong> defensive defenseman on par with other defensive defenseman in the league like Charlie McAvoy, Jacob Slavin, and Adam Pelech. In short, he's one of the few defenseman in the league who can make Connor McDavid look human.
Given that knowledge. You just sent a cap dump in McGinn, a <strong>bust</strong> in Nylander, and two 2nd rounders for him. One of which is two drafts out and the other is <strong>FOUR</strong> drafts out.
For an Elite defensive defenseman capable of shutting down McDavid.
That's an insulting offer, and one that would get turned down immediately. It's nothing, especially when you're asking a team to retain $2M for the next 6 years on top of taking that nothing offer.

Overpay? The only good piece going to the hawks are the picks and they barely cover the cap dumps the hawks take on in this deal. Hawks decline very easily

Hornqvist for Dadonov - what say ye panthers fans
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Marcsnack</b></div><div>One reason I think FLA passes is because they will need to create cap space when Duke/Ekblad come back, and Hornqvist is one of the only guys they can do that with. Not sure how you’ll be able to use Hornqvist to create cap space. The only way you’re able to move him is with a bad contract coming back the other way.
Unless the plan is to put him on waivers to clear $1.1mm of his cap hit, but the other $4.2 is married to your books even if he doesn’t play.

They wouldn't just blow up the team, they would add guys, maybe move 1 guy of significance (not from the core though) for another. Can't make this many moves though and expect better results. Also, wouldn't be worth it to just save a coach.
Trading Sandin+ for Chychrun would be a desperation move that maybe a GM would do, I don't think that would help though.
