Mayfield and 3C
Newhook has done absolutely nothing to deserve that kind of money, terrible contract, with the way he's played he shouldn't be getting anything over $1.5M and that's being generous.

Unrealistic Offseason
equivalent offer Boeser, a third and a first for Mackinnon....... seem fair?
should be by your reasoning here, Boeser puts up more points than Newhook and the draft picks are higher in each round so should be a slam dunk for Mackinnon.

Seems like Barbashev and Pens would a lot better if Pens signed to a hm a 4.25m contract.</div></div>
Usually, I'm pretty quick to dislike any trade between VAN and PIT, but I'd consider this one. I've heard people say Garland never really fit in VAN, so maybe in a different system he has more to give. He's a better defensive forward than Barbashev anyway, and I always value that versatility. The price isn't high for essentially a reclamation project, just depends on how the Pens make the cap situation work.
At the very least, I'm a lot more interested in Garland than I am in Miller and Boeser.

Never Happen
VAN laughs and hangs up the phone, VAN wouldn't trade EP40 for that plus a couple 1st rd picks, Barzal and Dobson are great but EP40 is a top 10 player in the NHL still under team control, unless there's a name like Bedard or McDavid involved VAN would not entertain offers for EP40 unless he demanded a trade.

Not sure if the Canucks take that. If we're taking a winger back then we might as well just stick with Boeser.

Reluctant Retool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bogdown</b></div><div>Like the ideas but don’t like the free agent signings. Think this team needs to spend less and trust the young guys more. Maybe one of two depth PK guys like Motte or Hathaway for cheap, but Aman and Joshua have been good. Mikkola is no better than Wolanin, Rathbone, or Brisebois. Garland would probably get dealt before Boeser.</div></div>
Appreciate the response. I'm not 100% sold on these FA's being the solution and wouldn't be opposed to having some of the younger guys take bigger roles.
We have a huge hole to plug at 3C, and there aren't many attractive options available. Maybe we could go the trade route there.
We're also in desperate need of upgrades in the top-4 at LD and RD. Thankfully there are actually several FA options there who would be a huge upgrade over Myers and OEL. Gavrikov, Graves, Mayfield, Severson, Soucy, etc. Lots of combinations that could work.

How many times do you have to read this before you get it? My opinions are based on watching. I don’t bet on games if I’m not watching.</div></div>
Hughes already plays 25 minutes a night. He can't do anything about the other 35 minutes a game when he is not playing. He really cannot do much else.

if you look at the depth charts you will see that the canucks have 1 NHL calibre defenceman, we have Quinn, then its Myers, Briesbois, Juulsen, Burroughs, and Wollanin, its all quad A guys, how can a team win with 1 NHL defender, also look down the middle, we dont have a 3C, another quad A guy. Just because a guy plays on a bad team that does not mean that he is a bad player. You can bet on all the games you want but if you dont watch the games and see the defencive impacts then what case do you have

Although I’m sure you’ll get some comments now, since you’re being such an a$$
2a- what was said, is that Demko’s trade value DROPPED, bc he was hurt & playing terrinbly
2b- and that his value would go back up, when he was healthy & playing well again
2C- and that you aren’t gonna get the big packages that VAN fan kept saying they wanted (by the deadline)
3- the offers VAN fans were making were ABSOLUTELY absurd
Typical example:
Demko for Savoie, Levi, 1st
4- if you’re gonna rant, at least get the story straight dude</div></div>
Plenty of people have been saying he is average at best to a bad goalie with inflated stats (poor argument). Does his value really drop that mu cut? Bad 15 games but that’s about it. He’s perfectly healthy now so the injury shouldn’t be a big deal

First of all, players and coaches have said Miller is well liked in the dressing room, and Quinn Hughes definitely is the best offensive d man from his draft class. All time? Maybe someday but he has quite a few NHL records at only 23

Ya, Quinn hughes is great at racking up secondary assists on the powerplay. Good for him. He’s still a turnstile and stinks 5 on 5. The devils have plenty of things that would get him, they shouldn’t want him though. Losing brand of hockey.
Miller is a cap dump. Plain and simple. The canucks paid him for a career high outlier season and gave him too much term. I don’t think he’s super hard to move, but they definitely aren’t getting any value for him unless they retain, or take back another bad deal.</div></div>

Boeser's price jumps a fair bit with that retention. This is his price without (or with a little) retention. Need to either drop the $ or up the price.
