Description
Meier's price is reportedly three elite pieces... (ie, three of Holtz, Nemec, Hughes, Mercer and 2023 1st).
And the contract demand is above $9m+

Don't pay the ransom.

We could do a lot more with the cap space and assets. Extending both Graves and Severson is probably unlikely, but wanted to show we would have flexibility to do so. And the Dickinson deal is filler.

Boeser's price jumps a fair bit with that retention. This is his price without (or with a little) retention. Need to either drop the $ or up the price.

Did you mean to say one of Holtz/Nemec/Hughes + Mercer + 2023 1st?

If they want up to two of those guys, I don't think anyone can land him lol.

Who on gods green earth is saying that’s the ask for Meier?!? Cmon now, everyone has said it’s a 1st/A prospect/B prospect.

The only rumor I heard today is SJ isn’t giving Meiers agent the option of negotiating an extension prior to a trade because Timo WANTS to go to NJ.

Hawks don't need any D men since we have an overflow at that position. Also Kyle Davidson seems like he's more interested in getting draft picks rather than prospects.

Signing Severson is not a great idea with Nemec coming up through the system, Marino extended through 2026-27, and Hamilton through 2027-28.

If you sign Sevo through 2027-28, you might as well deal Marino for Boeser in the offseason and let Nemec play.

If that's the best offer for Dickinson, Hawks will hang on to him. He's the only legit C under contract for next season at this point.

I think with a good chuck of salary retrained , the 1st rounder may get included. Just hard to assess where that point is.

Boeser's value has risen a fair bit since that time he was scratched. While he still isn't his complete self, he does still already have a high point per game rate whilst not having steady utilization. If he was paid more to his value he would probably have Rakell type value. I think at 1-1.5m ret. the market shifts to first rounder+.

The asking price is three elite pieces (Holtz, Nemec, Hughes, Mercer and 1st). Chris Johnston, TSN, and a local Sharks report named Sheng Peng all got the same. It’s been a few other places as well.

Sounds like Fitzgerald made an offer. Grier declined. Fitzy’s response was essentially, “call us if you change your mind” and moved on to other targets. Sounds like Devils have set their sights on Boeser now.

As for the new report, I and the seen that. But it has been the worst kept secret in hockey for a while. Hischier and Meier are close (Nico never would have gone to Halifax in 2016 without Meier…they friends even before juniors). And Meier and Siegenthaler are friends from international teams.

I mean, where did Meier go on vacation during All-Star break?

So I think the Devils best shot was Meier insisting on NJ…and Grier (wisely) wrestled that back from play/agent.

Maybe - wouldn’t surprise me. I had been using $2.15m since it fit what they paid Tatar. So he would essentially replace him in cap stack. For a late 1st and a decent prospect or two.

One of - Walsh, Foote, Clarke, Boqvist
One of - Thompson, McCarthy, Clarke
One of - 2023 1st, 2024 1st (depending on timing of deal)

For
Boeser ($2.15m retained)
McDonough

i still think NJ is the favorite, the can keep asking for thos 3 elite pieces, they probably wont get them. i remember the same things been saud about evander kane and all the teams that were interested move on. they ended up with a second round pick that turned into a first if the resigned him. The price will go down or the same will happen.
