Blues off-season
Detroit passes. They have tp resign Seider and Raymond, pick up an RHD to play behind Seider and probably get another goalie. Plus Detroit has LHDs coming out of their ears. So taking on $4.5M in cap for the 3 seasons for a 32yr old dman they don't need, doesn't make a lot sense.

Not sure what made you think Detroit needs a LHD or can afford a cap dump, but neither is true.

Marky to Detroit

Markstrom isnt worth anything close to that price. Lyon has the same save percentage and he makes 5 million less. No ones giving up that much for a 34 year old. Also, if the Wings want to get rid of Husso they'll just buy him out.

I agree with you for the most part, but plenty of times players like this are over valued by fans. Look at the Nedeljkovic trade a few years ago, for example.

There is zero and I mean zero chance Yzerman trades a 1st to get rid of a 1 year contract. If he can not play he will be on LTIR or he plays, but no chance of that happening

Awfully nice of Detroit to give you a solid player at half retention and take Jarnkrok's cap with absolutely no incentive.

Interesting pieces if you want Buch this summer
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>buffbry</b></div><div>I hear you, I guess not watching as many Blues games I wouldn't know about his 200 foot game, does he also play physical?
What if we added Anton to the 2nd package
Anton
Berggren
Wallinder
2nd</div></div>
He picks and chooses when to get physical, he's not always in that mode. But yes, he has it in his bag.
I don't think spreading value with more pieces is gonna work. Could be wrong about that... but probably not. I suppose it depends on what they think of Johansson and Berggren, which I won't pretend to know.

Interesting pieces if you want Buch this summer
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>buffbry</b></div><div>I still think kane is better, he is a ppg and 18 goals in 30 something games and in a year or so of more development I think ray is there too. Don't get me wrong buch Is awesome and exactly the piece they need. Let's also be real we are all bias towards our players. Im sure buch/ray/kane realistic is the same level and you lean blues and I lean wings.
I'd be good with extention either of these packages based on the players you listed
Anton Johanson
Berggren
1st (top 12 protected)
Or
Wallinder
Berggren
2nd</div></div>
Kane is much more a one way player. If you like that, okay, but I'd much rather have a PPG guy who plays 200 ft. Raymond is great, but like you said he's not quite there yet. I said the second he walks in the door, a year or whatever from now is a different discussion. Besides, Buch has much tougher usage.
And saying a Blues player is something good is not inherently bias. People tend to value various player traits differently - if anything, being a Blues fan has conditioned me to favor 200 ft play and the little details more. But I'm quite capable of weighing things without favoritism and I criticize the Blues harshly all the time. Just not so often here, because that's not really what this site is for.
I don't think the first package works. The second one could, but it could also be beaten.

not remotely enough from BUF for DET for those players.
Bath trade is a joke of low quality return
and Giroux retained will get much much better than a extremly late pick and a future 4th liner....</div></div>
So basically these trades are fair

I'm not sure how many times it needs to be said that Detroit is not moving a recent Top 10 pick and another 1st round pick for a rental forward they can't re-sign...
Moreover, I'm still loving the incessant proposals where Detroit, who has the #4 offense in the league, is selling futures to add <em>offense</em>, while Jeff Petry is still on their second pairing.

The 1st comes back with an extension. Either way I think Roy should get a 1st if traded. We’ll see.
The 3rd may not go the other way if not extended.
