Jones Brothers looks more realistic now
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Beetlejuice</b></div><div>Agreed trading Boqvist + 1st would be stupid af!
Boqvist has 29 points in 76 total games, That pretty good for a 20 year old defensemen that isn't fully developed.
Jones in his 1st 77 games had a total of 25 points, the production between them in there 1st season is very similar.
Also, Jones made it clear, he wants to leave CBJ and won't resign next off-season. So teams have the negotiation advantage over CBJ.</div></div>
It was never about the offense...it was about making the team better overall

Decent roster
Absolutely agree, he has the high end skill to at least get a shot but I definitely like the other options as well.

Chicago Contending
It says in the description that I did not edit the defense, only looking at the forward group. I don't know if I 100% want Perry but I think Bowman would like to add him to the roster on a 1 year deal. I have Kubalik on the 3rd line wing, I think Dach will at minimum get his 9 game "tryout" before burning his 1st year of ELC much like Kotkaniemi in Montreal last year. Kampf is a good depth player but just don't know if there is a spot for him in this lineup.

Blackhawks Mailbag
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>Whoa there on that Carolina trade. Beaudin was the #27th pick OA last year and had a great year in the juniors. He is turning pro this year. That means, he's easily increased his value this year. Anisimov is worth a 3rd or 4th worst case. No reason to throw in Beaudin. If you want to move Beaudin, get a 1st round pick back for him.</div></div>
Carolina is just a placeholder, and Beaudin is as well. There are just so many moving pieces but I believe that it will take Anisimov and a pretty decent prospect to get back an average prospect and recoup a mid round draft pick. The Blue Jackets offered a third round pick for Anisimov at the trade deadline 2 years ago and his value has dropped considerably since then.

Powers says Panarin will listen
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BigE</b></div><div>Nice....I think my only issue here is the way the lines are constructed.....Panarin and Kane love playing with each other, so why not recreate that line and spread out the scoring a bit.
Perlini - Toews - Saad (Perlini and Saad are interchangeable on the 1st and 3rd)
Panarin - Anisimov - Kane - (Maybe someone else steps up to the be the 2nd line C, therefore eliminating Anisimov through a trade for D help)
Debrincat - Strome - Perlini - THis could be one of the best 3rd lines in hockey....makes the Hawks hard to line up against.....very useful in the playoffs...
Thoughts?
This might be the start of something.....</div></div>
I think that Panarin and Kane can drive a line by themselves, and although both of their individual point production goes up when together, I think team scoring and effectiveness goes up with the lines like this. Out of all the combinations when Panarin was in Chicago he never played with Toews without Kane on the line, we know Kane can play with anyone, it would be interesting to see how much Panarin could push Toews and Perlini. Also I think you have to play Debrincat in the top 6 he is simply too good to get third line defensive minutes, he hasn't seen much time with Kane in his career and I think they can play a similar style to what Kane and Panarin did, obviously helping boost Strome at the same time. Defense could go many ways but I think this offers the best depth up front.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>kopiino</b></div><div>perlini and panarin want more $$$. kruger doesn't deserve to be re-signed. gus/mitchell plays over murphy</div></div>
Perlini has to perform at a high level and even then he's only around 2m, Panarin could go anywhere from 8-10 depending on the team, I think Chicago could get him on the lower end of that. If Murphy stays he will play, the only way Mitchell gets in consistently is if Murphy or Seabrook gets traded which isn't likely. Murphy plays well on his offside, and we don't have a ton of quality LD right now so he could slot nicely on the third pairing.

Should've gone for Karlsson

Brown C. = Tierney C.
Carrick C. = DeMelo D.
Gauthier F. = Norris J.
Tymashov D. = Balcers R.

no need for wasting Nylander</div></div>
Sens didn't want to send Karlsson to the Eastern Conference, would've needed a more convincing deal and this allows them to keep picks.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>WallMaz</b></div><div>It is a pretty good team but you are overpaying Panarin and Schmaltz. Imo Schmaltz would want a bridge deal and Panarin probably isn’t getting more than 9 mil. Also Columbus wouldnt take that trade for Panarin. Other than that good team.</div></div>
Yeah I think the trade all depends on big bounce back year for Forsling as well as Ejdsell living up to the hype, Panarin is a 9 mill guy more than likely but sometimes you have to pay the market price! Schmaltzy has me torn, the kid has elite playmaker potential could honestly be a new Backstrom if he reaches his full potential but that is obviously a big IF.

State of the Franchise
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>I'm a Leaf fan and appreciate what Bozak and JVR have done for the Leafs. And yes, I think some team(s) will offer JVR what you propose.</div></div>
I agree for the most part, but these days it is not necessarily how much a player is actually worth it is more what teams are willing to pay which as we all know on July 1st is crazy... Montreal is desperate for centers, and having a left shot left wing goal scorer in either JVR or Patches it is important to have a good right handed centerman like Bozak, 67 has been frustrated with Montreal's lack of guys that fit the description.

State of the Franchise
Tavares should see something similar to Stamkos (8.5-9.5) if he stays with NYI, going elsewhere he will get 10.5-11.5... do I think he will sign in Montreal? No. Is it a definite possibility? Yes. Galchenyuk is going to be sold low, he has bounced back a little but he is not going to bring a ton of return, I think Bergevin will take the first above average offer he gets for him, Galchenyuk fits as a nice 3C in Pittsburgh for a fresh start! As for JVR, Bergevin has been said to want a scoring winger back, that is JVR if you want a decently priced proven goal scorer, as well as the fact that you get a little younger. Patches is done in Montreal, and he's about to turn 30... he isn't gonna fetch an insane return either. Montreal doesn't exactly have the luxury or leverage to get anything huge in return, this is a team in disarray, as for the picks those were slightly random idk the picks that would necessarily accompany these trades.

If Bowman was perfect
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ajw0066</b></div><div>When Toews signed that contract he was scoring at almost a point a game pace, so how was Bowman supposed to know the he would slow down. If it were up to me I would rather have Toews at 10.5 than not have Toews at all.</div></div>
For me it is more of a negotiation thing... it seems like whoever walks into Bowman's office gets whatever they want... I think Toews and Kane could've easily gotten 9 or 9.5 instead, Panik pretty much said there wasn't negotiation that Bowman's first offer was more than he even expected to negotiate for, Bryan Bickell never even averaged 0.5 points a game and nothing stood out about his game, I don't think one playoff run warrants a 4x4 contract. It seems like Bowman tries to compensate too much, while that is admirable and I'm sure players love it, it is detrimental to the long term success of a franchise that could still be in the conference or Stanley Cup finals each and every year. If Bowman only takes back three of his moves this is a completely different team... 1.) Trade Sharp for someone on an ELC to keep Saad 2.) Handle the Bickell situation better to keep Teuvo and 3.) Don't trade Danault for two rentals that your coach is gonna healthy scratch the whole time. Honorable mention: obviously a little more wiggle room on the awful Seabrook contract gives them an extra middle 6 forward on the roster, or helps sign a decent D-man for a struggling core.

Probably, but on a 1 year deal if you are trying to win a cup... that's market value, he fits perfectly on that line they would dominate.

Yeah thats an obvious one too, but I was looking what they could keep from the past if toews was at say 8.5 or 9 mil and there was nothing else... the team is still under next years cap projection at 10.5 so I figured I would leave it but in an ideal world they sign matching 8x$9 mil contracts and save $3 mil a year.

Do you think the Carolina trade is a little far fetched? A team that already has an abundance of good D-men taking on two more NHL defensemen?
