Thread: Offer Sheet
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>Okay let me just first say I love the idea of offer sheeting sergachev. That said, I’m not a fan of your execution.

1.four years takes him direct to UFA without buying out any UFA years. That’s kind of just a non starter in the NHL, though it would make it far less likely that tampa matches due to the super player friendly term. I’m guessing CF shows him as RFA? It’s some weird glitch in their system. Any time a player has 7 years nhl experience, he’s UFA.
2. The logic behind your trades. It just isn’t there. The whole purpose behind such an offer sheet would be because they’re incredibly thin at left D. Andddd here you are trading the only other left shot D they have at the NHL level. By all means trade Moore. Trading grizz is just very weird under this scenario.
3. The grzelcyk trade concept: you’ve got the room! Give chara 500K less and give grizz 3.2. Easy! Or just let him go to arb. For a one year deal he’ll get under 3. Then there’s the value side of things. I think the bruins would pretty happily turn down a second rounder. They like the player. No chance they’re ditching him for a nothing draft pick. They clearly have the cap in this scenario. Ask yourself what is more valuable, a 3rd round pick, or expansion draft protection? If left unprotected, Seattle is 100% talking grzelcyk.</div></div>

Yes CF shows he would be an RFA, so I'm guessing it would have to be a 3 year deal to stay an RFA or go long term and lock him up for the future? The only reason I would be trading grizz is because if we did get Sergachev, he would have to be protected and we would lose grizz in the ED. Im sure they would be able to keep him in this situation but its just about asset management IMO, if we lost him in the ED and have no 1-3 picks in a deep '21 draft (or so I've heard its a deep draft) then we should try and recoup some pick of value and either resign chara or let one of Vaak, Zboril, or sign a vet dman to fill in the 3LD spot. If we did do some money management and were able to keep him then by all means keep him and hope that we can make a deal with SEA to avoid taking him so we can lock him up for longer.

Thread: Off-season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>what in the? okay, couple issues here. Let's do contracts first. 4 years is a no go for Carlo, that term brings him directly to UFA without buying out any UFA years. That hasn't happened in NHL history yet, so I don't think it's going to happen now. bump it down to 3 years and i think the money is right for a 3 year deal. For Mcavoy, it's close, but 2 years is super player friendly as it gets him out of group 1 RFA, and also gets him arb rights. for 3 years, i think that's fine. 4 years even would be okay, probably a smidge more expensive but okay.

Then there's the trade. Krug was 7th in points per game for d men last season. Here's the list of guys that had more points per 60 minutes played as a blueliner: Brent Burns, that's it. Over the last two seasons he's fourth among d men in points, and i believe first in points per 60. You're trading that guy, with a prospect and a pick for a guy that can't crack the lineup on a bottom ten team in the NHL. Please explain why.</div></div>

I'm gonna just start out with I did not look into the end of the contracts (being UFAs or RFAs, just what I think is fair) but I think Carlo does get some years with a decent cap. With the McAvoy case, Bob McKenzie from TSN firmly believes that McAvoy will get a bridge deal to prove himself as he has been injury prone. He did turn down an 8 year, 40 million dollar contract last season because he wanted more money. He wants to be paid but I just don't see the Bruins handing out a contract that resembles Aaron Ekblad's contract. (8 years 60 million) with him missing 47 combined games in his career so far due to injury. Even though he has been an absolute workhorse this postseason (averaging 24:46 TOI this postseason) and having to deal with a struggling Chara as his partner, he's playing to be paid severely but I just don't see them giving him a big boy deal (unless like you mentioned he gets 3 years with a little more of a raise).

As for the trade, as I said to Nick, EDM needs PP help and he can help them tremendously. Unfortunately, for the price of Krug, we won't get someone like an RNH without giving up a first round pick probably. I just see JP being the best fit because of the mix of size and speed. I also see him getting a small contract as he hasn't been able to find his game in EDM and sort of resembles Jonathon Druin, where he didnt want to play in the AHL and they stick him on the fourth line expecting him to do what they want him to do. He was averaging just over 13 minutes a game which is fourth line minutes, and he was still able to put up 20 points in 63 games playing mainly on the fourth line.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>nickbowins8</b></div><div>Why trade Krug? And for a guy who hasn't figured it out at the NHL level yet</div></div>

I firmly believe that Krug is the expendable one from our LHD group, yes he is a great point scorer but almost half his career points are on the PP. 288 points while 132 are on the PP (over 45%). He has been a very big liability on the defensive aspect of the ice (has played a better 2 way game in the playoffs). This upcoming season is the final year on his contract will want a big pay increase (i would think around 7 million depending on how this season goes) but with the way Grzelcyk has played, he's shown that he belongs in the lineup. Grzelcyk has made fewer mistakes with the puck and can easily transition the puck out of the zone better than Krug. He is also younger and cheaper (Bruins need to clear cap within the next few years) and can kill penalties and can QB on PP2 as the future plan is to have McAvoy QB on PP1.

As for the trade to EDM, his name was circulating almost all season to be traded to EDM and I spent roughly 20 minutes looking for a team that both needs PP help and a good puck mover. EDM needs both of those things and almost all the remaining teams either don't need an LHD or have plenty of younger Dmen who will be able to play a better 2-way game. I just see JP being a target as he wants out of EDM and look what the Bruins have been able to make of trades for young forwards (I.E. Rielly Smith (23 when traded), Nathan Horton (25 when traded)) He is a big body winger (perfect for Krejci), he has very good speed and isn't afraid to get to the dirty areas for the puck.
