There are too many variables to just cover it with a blanket "extension in place".</div></div>

They are both similar caliber players. The way I see it it wouldn't really benefit Winnipeg too much because Connor, Laine, and Wheeler aren't as good as everyone thinks they are so they would struggle there. Also take into the obvious fact that Danault is going to be a UFA soon where as Ehlers is on a great deal makes the Jets decline. I definitely still have a lot of interest in Danault and depending who is there at the 10 spot I would move that in a package for Danault

If you had a brain, you’ll know there would be no discussion without a sign and trade. Danault ( extend ) vs Ehlers / after what need to be add

We have Primeau and signed Demchenko from the KHL, so Lindgren ECHL ? Nah, can’t see it happening. Worse case a team will borrow him like Carolina did with Kinkaid

We need to keep Ryan around just in case Danault leaves. If Danault gets traded or leave via UFA, Poehling will become the 3C. Stop being hard on him, yes he did f*cked up, but he’s young and will mature. Can’t do that in MTL

I gotta disagree here.
Sure he didn't look great but neither did most players. They were playing a really good team. That's just who he is. If he was more consistent we would never have gotten him in the first place. He's just a good middle 6 player who wins puck battles better than just about anyone when on his game and fine bottom 6 when off.
I'd much rather have his ability to win a game while not costing much over a guy like Weise or Weal in the bottom 6.

Fleury should stay, he's our best RD prospect, and seemed very reliable for a kid at the start of the season.
I would personnaly keep Evans. He will be a great cheap 4th center for many years, and we won't have to resign guys like Thompson every year to fill that role.
Moving Chariot is a bad move period.
I wonder why Armia is so bad in these playoffs. He's build for postseason, and was great in the season. A mystery, but we must add some size to our lineup if we trade him.

im just still not interested bro, I like Domi, but not that much. LW is the position we are the most set on. We need a RH forward more than a LH

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mhockey91</b></div><div>pens would be willing to part with one of those pieces, but certainly not both. I think 15OA for Domi is a fair deal, but once you add Poulin, Pens get fleeced. This is a very deep draft. 15OA is going to snag a great prospect. Pens aren't going to be moving two first round picks for Domi. its just not worth it for their perspective.</div></div>
I definitely understand and respect that. From my perspective though there is a great deal of risk in trading an established, young player who is consistently productive for a chance that 3 years down the road a guy might come and make the impact that the player I just traded is having.
Heck everyone is raving about how good Suzuki is (and he certainly is that) but he still didn't outscore Domi last season. That was his D+3 season. Even Kotkaniemi who was drafted 3rd OA has just started making a real difference pretty much 3 years later. And those are the ones who make it.
I get your perspective and it's certainly valid but I guess what I should have stated more explicitly is that I personally would favor more of a "hockey trade" than kicking the can down the road with futures. Hence my belief that MTL and PIT aren't very well suited as trade partners. I know other Habs fans might view things differently as we are a very divided fanbase but that is my opinion for what it's worth.

That's far from the opinion people had back then. He was turning 30 and coming off one of the worst seasons of his career. People didn't see him returning a 2nd round pick and B prospect.
Now 15OA + Poulin being off the table is fair enough but I also don't see much of a fit between the two teams. Although JR may want Domi, Bergevin wants to keep building and improving his team and won't be eager to do JR a favor. Outside of Poulin&15OA I don't see what MTL want that PIT would be willing to move.

100% but saying 15th OA is close to Domi is not
If Domi is getting trade for something similar or worse, I'll give you the credit and that I was wrong. But IMO Domi is worth more than a 1st mid round pick

Yes he does, he wants us to be competitive with Suzuki Kotkaniemi Romanov Caufield Primeau / Gallagher Danault Lehkonen Byron Weber Petry / now the players who needs to fit are Domi Drouin Armia
Norlinder Struble Harris Ylonen Ikonen are good prospects, but it will take time before all the youngster are with MTL

Everyone was saying the same thing about patch back in the days. We got an A prospect for him and a second (considering he was a pending UFA).

Imo, this is a fair trade for Domi. Dont know why ANA would want an older C (still young but) when theyre still rebuilding. Petry would get a huge return (more than a late first like you suggest). TBH, if MB goes on and trade 2-4 of his top players (Domi, Drouin, Tatar, Petry, Danault or Gallagher) and receive a ton of first picks and prospects, he should package them and get the first OA. If he really wants to turn that franchise around, we need an exceptionnal forward upfront. Laf is the guy
