Edmonton Oilers signed Corey Perry (1 Year / $1,100,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>IconicHawk</b></div><div>I’d add Gauthier, Trouba and Cousins</div></div>
as a pens fan, in no particular order,
Tom Wilson... well I lied he's the dirtiest scumbag in the league so he's #1
Trouba
Marchand
Evander Kane
Kadri... He was dirty when he was younger I don't know about now... famous clip of Sid calling him a joke, I was watching that game live, he was throwing them high bows
Zegras is just annoying I don't care about him enough to hate him
Binner isn't dirty is he? i respect that Cup run
and legit I believe Pinto was a scapegoat so if you hate on him, gimme the deets of what he did
Gauthier went about that all wrong and I lost all respect for him, even though i clearly don't like the Flyers at all. he's like Zegras, basically irrelevant, but what pretentiousness eh?
So yeah, IDK about 8 legit ones.
But tom wilson... he's the dirtiest guy I've ever seen play BY FAR... and anyone in the Metro who has had to watch him try to hurt people in the playoffs knows this
Lots of people say Perry is dirty, so his reputation proceeds itself
His nickname on hockey reference is The Worm for gahds sakez

Tampa Bay Lightning signed Brandon Hagel (8 Years / $6,500,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RawDeal</b></div><div>I think there's a bit of over reacting to this, maybe because it came out of nowhere.
I think it's a good contract for player and team.
I just don't know where the Bolts are going to get the cap space, especially since there's no Seabrook after this year...</div></div>
But who do they need to sign? Stamkos will take some kind of discount. The cap will go up. They probably need another Dman, but they have the space to do it.

(PIT/MTL/SJS) - Granlund, Rutta, Petry, DeSmith, Légaré, 2024 1st (PIT), 2025 2nd (PIT) for Pitlick, Hoffman for Karlsson, Hamaliuk, 2026 3rd (SJS)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>budgeteam</b></div><div>This is amazing work by San Jose.
People on a cap site should appreciate what Grier pulled off here.
He got a 1st round pick to dump one of the most difficult contracts in the league, and get almost entirely out of the final two years of it, when his team will be on the upswing. He should not have gotten a 1st round pick here.
Granlund and Rutta are also relatively cheap buyouts next year if they need further cap flexibility at the expense of pushing more cap to the third year.
You also have to frame all of the above with the high probability that Karlsson wanted out. Teams cannot hold on to players forever when that happens. For a rookie GM to pull off what he did is very impressive.</div></div>
He got fleeced. I'm not saying he should be fired...he hasn't had the job long enough, but EK has 3 Norris trophies...including the reigning winner. YES, he more offensively minded these days, but Grier did a terrible job maximizing return. He took on THREE cap dumps that alone...probably cost as much (if not more) than the conditional 1st. Josh Bailey...2nd. Zaitsev...2nd&4th as examples.
Also, why not retain 50%??? They're not remotely close to contending...so why not maximize value?
This wasn't a good job at all imo.
