See the below comment. Neither Keith or Neal are worth what they are making. Both are primarily leadership/experience guys. They have similar term and AAV remaining. Duncan Keith is 38. His production has been steadily declining. Still a good skater, but not a guaranteed top 4 guy anymore. Neal is a 3rd line player who can chip in on the pp.

Neither player carries much value. Keith being vocal about wanting to move to a specific number of teams also diminishes his value. Chicago, rightfully so, wants to accommodate this, given all he has done for the team. So to summarize, especially after Neal was battling coming back to 100% after COVID, Keith is probably a more impactful player, but he's also 38. I don't think its even remotely unrealistic to say that they are similar in value considering all the points above.

This trade goes way off the rails once Yamamoto was "thrown in". He was a ppg player last season for a 30 game stretch once getting called up. This season he didn't produce as much, but his style of play and tenacity was always a positive thing. Guy just needed to bare down a little. He for the time being is in our top 6 next season so tossing him in a trade just adds a 3rd top 6 winger to the list, which is already going to be tough to achieve. Obviously Kubalik is better than Yamamoto. But adding Yamamoto to a Neal-Keith trade is just as ridiculous as adding Kubalik here.
