This team would be over the cap once Kassian comes off LTIR, which he very well could before the end of the season.

NOW vegas is true contender
Hard to contend when you're not cap compliant. Most likely they'll have to make more trades to fit Eichel in once he's healthy, it also depends on the timeline of his recovery though.

Keith Trade Prediction

Are there teams that are going to struggle to make the cap floor? With a flat cap, I can't see it.</div></div>
I agree with you. Arizona needs draft picks after getting a good chunk taken away through various boneheaded moves by the team.

Huge mistake to get rid of Bear, especially for just a 3rd round pick.

Hawks Defense Reimagined
I don't hate the Keith trade, but with how much cap is coming into the Oilers there would probably have to be some retention on Keith. Not too much, maybe ~$1 million, Oilers could add another mid range pick or B prospect.

Keith is happening
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Spanky_McButtCakes</b></div><div>The Oilers likely don't make a Keith trade without some salary going back the other way. Perhaps Koski. That's the only way I can see this deal happening from the Oilers standpoint.</div></div>
I could see the Oilers retaining a bit on Koskinen seeing as his contract is only for 1 more year, and Kosko would be a better backup than Delia or Subban. If the Hawks don't want him then buying him out is only $1.5 mil for 2 years, even less if the Oilers retain.

Keith to Oil Country
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>Hawks aren't trading Keith for Neal. Neal is not valuable, Keith still has a ton of value in a bottom 3 or 4 role, he's just not a top liner anymore or someone that can play over 20 minutes a night.</div></div>
Keith has more value sure, but he also had some of the worst defensive metrics in the league last season, just because he can play over 20 minutes a night doesn't mean he should. I agree that he still has some worth as a veteran depth D, but he's not worth that much. Also because of his NMC he decides where he goes, if he says "I only want Edmonton", then Holland immediately gets the upper hand in negotiations.

I dont want Keith to leave
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DarthKane</b></div><div>Raphael Lavoie, 3rd round pick, Koskinen for Keith (50% retained) and Chad Krys.</div></div>
Edmonton declines that. We need our forward prospects,, I could see them offering a young d-man Caleb Jones or William Lagesson instead.

Keith to Oil Country
If Keith is coming to Edmonton then Neal is most likely going the other way. Hard to say who has more value, Keith is more usable on ice, but Neal has a much better buyout and could give the Hawks some more cap flexibility.

Still have some room
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bobcaygeon97</b></div><div>A) No team is taking Koskinen unless a 1st is attached to him. That's a hard truth. </div></div>
I don't think his value is that low. It would take more than what he's offering, but I think if the Oilers retained around $2mil on Koskinen's contract then the trade isn't far off. He had a bad year, but he's not that bad a player. Decent 1B or backup option for a team that will likely lose a starter in free agency.

My go at it
I like Palat, but I think it would be better to try and sign a UFA like Hyman, Saad, or Coleman instead of give up assets for 1 year of him.

Whoops, definitely the opposite of what I had in my head. Should be an EDM 3rd that becomes a 4th if Kosko plays 50%
