I know it's only a couple of million bucks in actual money, but I can't see Arizona doing that favor for everyone for 2 years just to get what's likely a late 3rd. Could be completely wrong though.

The Staal cap dump to DET was a 2nd for 6 mil, and that was probably slightly under market. You’d probs need to add a 2nd to this but I think the idea is solid.

Why though? They add $2.769 to their cap for the next two years, and paying a couple of million bucks for less than a 30% chance that they're getting someone in the draft that *might* someday make it into a game?

Are there teams that are going to struggle to make the cap floor? With a flat cap, I can't see it.

Keith's actual money is 2.1 mil so ARZ would be paying 1.05 mil but using the cap space of 2.769 mil. so it could work with the offer. The thing with Keith is his no trade clause and desire to be in western Canada to be closer to his son and Edmonton being the only possible trade target will mean that Holland has the upper hand. According to hawks insiders, https://thehockeywriters.com/blackhawks-2020-21-player-grades-duncan-keith he didn't get along with Jeremy Colliton and this could be a trade where the Hawks have no choice but to trade him for less than fair value.
Jones and Koskinen for Keith? No retention. I think the Oilers will really try to work the Hawks over on this.

I agree with you. Arizona needs draft picks after getting a good chunk taken away through various boneheaded moves by the team.

AZ is losing money hand-over-fist, I can't see them going for anything like this. They don't have a lot of cap space, either...

What’s the scoop on Koskonen and Jones. I see most trades involving these two.

Good draft picks. Not just draft picks.

Koskinen is a good back up Goalie that is over paid, he's mostly good but his off games (he had about 4 this year) are really bad so people focus on those games and his cap hit and really turned on him.
Jones has good underlying numbers but is still developing, he's best fitted for the 3rd pairing on a playoff team long term.
