The difference again is Eric staal had a partial ntc, and only a few teams were interested. There are about 15-20 teams interested in LGD. I'm good with the 3rd and b prospect. But don't be shocked if he goes for same or more then staal. His Faceoffs are extremely valuable in the playoffs

The retention number limit is a good point though. I didn't think about that.
Could we agree on Lehkonen + B prospect ? He is worth a 3rd IMO.</div></div>
Did you think Blake Coleman or barclay Goodrow would go for a first? At the deadline gms overpay. I think lgd ultimatly goes for a 3rd and a 5th. I would take the 3rd and a B prospect. Lehkonen doesn't help the wings we want picks not more guys we would trade for picks. But it is a better proposal to be fair

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jpsnow13</b></div><div>Nate Thompson was traded for a 5th.mat do you think Glendening is made of? Gold?
Also the real retention is about 300k. I don’t think this is a deal breaker for Detroit.</div></div>
Yeah LGD has way more value then nate thompson. His Faceoffs are leading the league and there are about 20 teams in on lgd where nate thompson had 1. Way different scenerio. The retention isnt about the $$$ amount it's about the fact we can only retain 3 contracts and we have bigger ones that we need to retain on, staal, bernier, nemeth, helm as examples. Elliot friedman reported he could fetch a 2nd at this point. Or a 3rd and a decent prospect. So while your proposal might be what you think is good for montreal, when you Factor in all the other I reasons, wings would pass on this trade and do better elsewhere. So no worries, wings pass here

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>That's great, trading a good shutdown guy for a 4th isn't good business, I wouldn't do it from Edmonton's perspective. I'm not arguing for the trade, I'm taking issue with your idiotic, ignorant take that Kris Russell at $1.25M is "a cap dump" and has "a big cap (hit)".</div></div>
The big cap hit was for this season, I want aware it was for next season, so that part was obvious just a mistake. 1.25 isn't a big cap hit. He's a useful player for a team that's competitive for a playoff spot and a 4th isn't unreasonable for that team to pay. For the redwings who are rebuilding we wouldn't be trading a pick for this player or cap hit because of the direction of the team at this time. Hope this clears it up and you can move on happily now

Too far in the future and wings will be competitive and have enough guys, prob won't be a dumping ground at that point. So we'll decline

It would work if you changed the 2nd to a first and took the retention out from mantha. We aren't going to retain on a 4 years deal

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>TL;DR
This AGM is a 2021-22 team, meaning that in all likelihood the OP intended the moves to be made in the summertime, meaning that Russell's $4M contract is already over and finished. So your lack of basic understanding of how dates work is clouding your judgement here. Nothing in this post indicates the Russell trade happens prior to the summer.
Grab a clue, bud.</div></div>
Wings still won't do it, not giving up a draft pick during a rebuild for a type of guy we can sign for free in the offseason

Realistic Mantha Trade
This is not close. It starts with one of poj or poulin and if they aren't in the trade then it's a pass no matter what. Then we aren't retaining on a 4 years deal that's as I realistic as it gets.

I am fine with that and think it works for like a 5th round pick. I was only against retention cause of the other guys we need to retain on and the retention rules. Otherwise it would have even been fine 1 for 1 no retention.

The wings have to many bigger contracts that we need to retain on, staal, nemeth, bernier, even lgd. We wont have the room to retain on gagner, especially for this minimum return. It's not worth it and we would keep gagne at this point, so pass from wings

Take 2
2 B- prospects and a late first for 2 guys who won't be traded with retention. Pass by wings, I think if you actually listened when we all told you why, take 2 should have been better then take 1. This wouldn't even get you fabbri let alone stetcher ontop. Wings don't want to trade either player, this means you must overpay. If we don't see amirov, sandin or robertson in the deal you aren't getting these guys I can promise you that

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>$1.25M for a decent shutdown defenseman is a steal. He's not a cap dump and doesn't have a big cap hit. You're just wrong and can't admit it.</div></div>
Nope the 4M for the rest of the year is a cap dump to the red wings. You just don't understand how rebuilding teams work and can't admit it. You are 100% wrong and we aren't trading picks and can sign a similar guy for free in the offseason. A playoff team sure, wings you are paying for us to take him and that's the end of the story guy. You really should listen to any press conference from yzerman and understand exactly how's he's building the team and maybe you would understand why you have no clue what your talking about. I'm sorry but you don't know the red wings at all or how they are building this team, if you did you would know just how wrong you are. Sorry pal this is a pass all day and night and there is a 0% chance you are right. I listen to every single yzerman presser and this is the exact opposite of the direction they are moving and face facts you are outmatched here with red wing knowledge and just see a team who has cap space and think they could take this cap hit and veteran dman and it works, but in reality that's so far off its not true. This is a pass and will never ever be accepted by yzerman or any red wings fans on the planet who knows anything about the team.

Jonas is a decent option, but don't see him fitting with the wings as someone who makes a difference. Might just keep the pick, it's a fair offer though
