not like the 2025 1st will be the 31st pick lol probably around 15th/16th. not a huge difference in particular next draft being much deeper apparently.

a 3rd is already more valuable than bahl. and I said already it was a tad too much for jarry...
so you end up paying 1st + 3rd (exactly what I thought the price would be)

ok so let me explain you how this actually works:
you are giving up:
5th and a 7th = no value for pens, or at all
timmins + mcCabe <<<<<< pettersson
minten <<<< bunting (good prospect but nothing to be exited about, and buns is a very good player able to play top 9 wherever)
and
marner + a late first rounder for SIDNEY CROSBY.
if Toronto were to make a deal like this they become instant favourites for the cup. (if they don't mess up the FA signings)

There’s an argument they could go after Juuse Saros and give up less. I’m not opposed to Tristan Jarry, but not at that price. Even including Mike Sullivan as coach doesn’t make up for this either.</div></div>
if you really think you can get saros or ullmark for less than a 1st and Kevin bahl who's nothing great at all you are dreaming. might be too much for jarry tho.
I don't think this is the way to go honestly. the defensive core looks worse then with EK65 on it. graves is still there and playing top 4. you have 9 mil left of cap space not sure how this helps the team compete.

He’s not much better…definitely not better enough to warrant trading a top goalie prospect and Puustinen to dump Rakell for him.
I’m not bothered by the smith trade here, that was just more in general because a lot of people trade him then sign Debrusk to a worse contract. But it’s been happening a lot with Rakell too with people dumping him then signing guys like Teravainen or Debrusk. At least go after a big name if you’re going to dump him lol</div></div>
yeah I wouldn't sign de brusk either.
I saw it more like rakell for Reinhart which is obviously a huge upgrade and smith for teravainen which also is an upgrade.

In your talent pool it’s Yager, then Blom (who is of no interest to ANA because we already have a great goalie pipeline), and then a cliff drop to the nexT guy. Glad you’re hyped on those guys though</div></div>
you'll see next season already... don't worry about it.
and please explain how you're goalie pool is great when your best goalie prospect is the one we traded to you knowing he wasn't close to be as good as Blomqvist ....
no cliff after yager and boom. koivunen is a top 6 sure thing and broz and ponomarev great third line centres (broz has more margin to be top 6 guy).
obviously we don't have a deep pool considering we have won 3 cups in the last 15 years and always contending. but quality over quantity. always. is better to have 1 Blomqvist than 4 Calle clang

To claim there's anything in Pitts system that you wouldn't trade 1 for 1 with Zegras because that piece is special is just fantasy land on your part bud. I am actually embarrassed for you.</div></div>

imo these past few years our problem was the defense. getting Theodore is huge plus the goaltending duo is very good. and do not agree about Crosby. Crosby at 44 is still probably top 20 in the league.
but yes I was exaggerating. not winning the cup probably but definitely playoffs. after that you never know.

this statement has no ground base. we have at least 2 prospects (yager and blomqvist for sure and I wouldn't trade koivunen as well he is special) that we wouldn't even swap 1 for 1 with zegras... what are you talking about
plus any combo of pickering or broz plus some other assets is plenty for a guy like zegras.

I'm willing to bet it was the one that sidelined him in Nov-Dec and he's been playing through it for months. He comes back healthy and suddenly that trade looks Hextallian. And while Puustinen is replaceable, I'm not certain anyone we have is going to slot in as effectively as Puusty, or anyone we could get on the market would be available at as low of a cap hit Puusty would get.
"Lets trade a top 6 winger, a cheap middle 6 winger when we have suspect depth, and a goalie prospect with potential for nothing because that top 6 winger had one bad year due to injuries!" Masterful gambit, sir.</div></div>
I'd tend to agree with you. but tell me this isn't a much much improved team in respect of what we had last year.
(we have Blomqvist over murashov either way and we signed a much better player in free agency without giving up assets)

trust me as a pens fan teravainen is much better than smith and rakell.
smith had a great start but after like game n.12 he stopped producing. he is a good player didn't really work with us. it can be even more than a 5th for him but I dindn't want people to focus on the trade rather on how good or bad this team would look like.
rakell had a down year also injured. he also is a good player but in all honesty the contract doesn't look great.

I know murashov is a tough loss, I'm going all in on Blomqvist... and I like puusty but he is replaceable also koivunen is looking really solid
but that rakell contract at the moment seems very hard to trade, and if Dubas doesn't manage we need a huge bounce back season from him.

not sure this is a good idea imo.
this team is not good enough to compete for a cup, and not bad enough to get a very high pick.
honestly I think we should either go for it or try and retool for 1/2 years.
if the idea is to retool have toffoli and duclair for one year deals to trade them retained at the TDL for good picks and prospects.
if the idea is to compete get 1 9mil winger (game changer) and hope to have yager or koivunen make the jump and be important players.

I mean I think he could have a secondary role behind mcdcvid sure, mackinnon maybe anybody else no he is still better then every signle player in the league except maybe 3 or max 4 players.
