I still don't like the value for Dallas if it's a second instead, but it is definitely realistic considering what the defensive market seems to be. You're also right about Dellandrea, he is expandable. I just wouldn't include him in a trade unless I absolutely needed to.

Dallas laughs at that offer. Pettersson is not bad at all but is by no means cheap. They see Dellandrea as a core piece of their future, plus the first makes it very lopsided. I do like how you mentioned the return that Provorov got though, you never know how desperate a team could be for a D-man so I guess we will see.

CBJ says no. They do need a center but they are also trading one in that same deal. Roslovic is younger, cheaper, and arguably better than Coyle.

Insanely high AAV there for Killorn, I know cap space isn't much of an issue for Buffalo but that money can be used for much better (and potentially younger) players.

I didn't at all say no value, I said not much. And by not much, I was talking about compares to the trade this guy made. Two firsts and a good prospect.

Laughton is a fan favorite and a leader who is valued highly in the organization, so from that perspective it doesn't make too much sense. But market value wise, it's a good move for Philly to just keep getting younger, although I'd ask for a second or third rather than a fifth. I love Laughton as much as the rest though so it's not a "must-do deal" or anything.

Mittelstadt and Jokiharju really don't hold much value. Both will be NHL regulars next year but definitely not two core pieces for Buffalo's future. Remove one of the firsts and it's still a bad trade for Vancouver.

Fine with everything except that Clifton contract. He's a third pairing defenseman at best, worth nowhere near $3.7M a year.

I really wouldn't part ways with Krebs to get Andersson. Regardless of his value, I just don't think it's a fit if it means losing multiple future pieces.

I agree with the defensive liability part but I feel like that can be solved by putting him with the right linemates. I also agree with trading players while they have value but when you say "some" value, a third just isn't enough to be willing to move him.

TB could definitely use the picks to make up for the Jeannot trade, but that's just not enough for him, especially considering they're sending a second to Chicago in this deal.

I mean if we are talking about the better player right now, I could see the argument for Duchene. All in all, I was accounting for contract, age, and injury history.

I don't think the value going back to AZ is that bad here (maybe another piece would make it worth their while), but does NJ really need Keller? Take care of your RFAs, replace Tatar and Severson, and run it back next year. Maybe focus on the goalie position too if you don't believe in VV+Schmid.
I will say though, that would be the best top six in the league hands down.

If I'm Carolina I'm keeping Teravainen at that point. They want to upgrade their roster in multiple ways next year. Not only is Teravainen better than Duchene, but even at $1.5M retained, Carolina doesn't have much flexibility when it comes to cap space. A reminder Andersen and Raanta are unrestricted free agents.
Isles could definitely use a guy for their PP but Barrie is not it. Too much money for a team with little cap space, even though they will probably part ways with Bailey this summer.

Lets get this rebuild going
Regardless of the postseason success, I don't see a point in trying to rebuild. Losing Klingberg is fine and you'll probably lose Dumba too, but he can easily be replaced by Faber or Addison (both should be NHL regulars next year). Forward core is good if you add a center. Another good year of Gustavsson should guarantee you another solid season.

I understand that his value might not be too high but why is it a necessity to trade him? He can easily be a solid middle six scoring option for next season. There's just no reason to sell low on him after a career season. Cap space isn't really an issue right now in Buffalo so I just don't see the point.

Fletcher tried throwing the rebuild idea out the window for three years, and we have still been a bottom 5/10 team.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Capitals_O</b></div><div>How does adding Barbashev & Severson make the roster worse? Ya they lose Reilly but they can win without him</div></div>
I was really talking about the trade itself rather than the additional transactions you made but I'd honestly rather keep Rielly. He has been great in the regular season and the playoffs for the Leafs. The term on his contract might scare me a little but I see Severson as a second pair defenseman at best, so really the big fish you're getting by doing this is Barbashev. He's obviously better than Jarnkrok but when it comes to money and the Leaf's situation, I'll just keep Rielly and Jarnkrok at that point. And who knows, maybe they find a separate trade for Murray and they can convince Barbashev to take a slight paycut.

Get a haul for 11 from CHI
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DopeGM</b></div><div>This logic doesn’t stand up in my experience. I get it. But you look at the Kings rebuild for example. They have honestly way too many prospects. It feels like a lock that a player like Fogemo for example would make the NHL as a top sixer if he were in a less stocked system.
You don’t want to gift positions and trading from a position of abundance does sound great, but with the quality of this year’s top 15, the timing of cap implications 3+ years out, the ability to onboard around 3 rookies maximum per season, etc. I would overpay to get to #11 if I were Chicago.</div></div>
I like that you brought up the Kings rebuild, can't disagree with you there. The point I was trying to send is that if I'm Chicago, I wouldn't go out of my way to get another high-end first. Second round picks might not always be NHL caliber players, but I still feel like the value just isn't worth it for Chicago.
