Realistic Bounce Back
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>deangel84</b></div><div>Bottom six revamp and a couple defenseman are needed but goaltending needs to be better as well. That Arizona trade would be a steal for us. I just want no parts of Jarry.</div></div>
I think bottom six is more of an issue than defense. Think a good third line center could alleviate a lot of issues because it would push other guys like Poehling and DOC into smaller roles. Unfortunately we're stuck with Carter so you just hope he can handle 8 minutes a night. As for goalies, I think Jarry's true talent level is closer to his performance last year than this year. That being said, under no circumstance should they bring back the Jarry-DeSmith tandem because DeSmith is not dependable enough if/when Jarry misses time
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pensfan21</b></div><div>I agree. I mean it's tough to pinpoint one issue cause there are so many. I guess the D is just one that isn't mentioned as much. Jarry absolutely should not be re signed imo. We just need a fresh start with goaltending.</div></div>
Think it's smart to give POJ and Smith an extended look next year to see if either can make the jump into a Top 4 Dman. If neither performs, you can use the 2024 first and/or 2025 first and/or Pickering as pieces to acquire a Top 4 guy

Realistic Bounce Back
Ruuta is better than Ruhwedel so there isn't a spot for Ruhwedel in the Top 6. He's good depth but Pens also have Friedman who can play both sides so Ruhwedel is traded in favor of having a 13th forward.
Could trade Rutta to open up more cap space but I think he's a solid bottom pair defenseman so I say keep him

Pens
I don’t hate it. I feel like a lot of people are overvaluing Maatta just because he’s young and a third and a fifth is more likely. The Manson trade might need a draft pick instead of Lauzon because it’s looking likely Lauzon isn’t going to make the NHL. The Letang trade seems like pretty fair value to me, the only issue I have with it is even with the defensemen you’re bringing in, none are as good as Letang when he’s on top of his game. I think he was playing hurt in the playoffs and is going to return to form next year and it’s worth hanging on to him

attempt to be reasonable
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LetsTalkNHL</b></div><div>I wouldn't be a fan of that Rust trade and I dont think Ottawa takes it. The Maatta deal has some logic but just a 3rd might not be enough, since that condition is quite unlikely.</div></div>
I just don’t think Maatta’s value is that high. He’s getting paid over 4 million for four more years and he’s coming off another year where he missed time due to injury. He hasn’t looked the same since returning from injury and he was a healthy scratch in the playoffs. He’s also incredibly slow. You’re not really selling high on him here, you’re just trying to get what you can for him and find a replacement

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Vanilla_Icing</b></div><div>I don't see the Sens taking that deal when PIT sent them Gustavsson already in the Brassard deal.</div></div>
Gustavsson is still only 20 and didn’t have great numbers in the AHL this year. Jarry is basically NHL ready. Assuming the Sens don’t bring back Nilsson, they’d probably run with an Anderson-Jarry pairing and let Gustavsson continue to develop in the AHL. Anderson is a UFA after next season, so maybe by that point Gustavsson would be ready to come up and the Sens could have a Jarry-Gustavsson tandem.

I think so, they gain some cap space and get rid of Hunwick
