<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMmaster13</b></div><div>Yikes? about the Markstrom for Jones trade I proposed yesterday can you let me know if this trade is fair?
To SJ
J. Markstrom
L. Jasek
To Van
M. Jones (17.5% retained)
Yegor Spiridonov
2022 First Round Pick

Let me know if this is fair and also direct some other SJ fans to this trade cause I want to know their take on this as well. Thanks man!</div></div>

I would say the trade is not fair and favors Van heavily. Even if the sharks really wanted to get rid of Jones and were willing to over pay to do so; this trade is a lot to offer up. Retaining 1mil on Jones of 5 years on a cap crunched team is a lot of dead money for a long time. Spiridonov is 19 and a top 3 prospect, possibly the best prospect in the sharks very thin prospect pipeline so that is a lot the give up. And the 2020 1st is wanted dearly buy the SJS fans as it feels like the sharks are without a 1st round pick more often then not. Markstrom is having a career year on a contract year so you are selling high on him witch is good; but he has yet to crack 30 wins and Jones is a lock for 30 wins plus. I don't know much about Jasek but he seems like a career AHL player with maybe top 9 NHL potential with a 25 point max production and is 22 years old. I just don't see the value anywhere unless the sharks absolutely needed to get rid of Jones; kinda like Toronto did with Marleau. A fair trade I would say Dell ,Chmelevski and a 3rd rd pick for Markstrom and Jasek. Chmelevski is having a rough year in the AHL, but is considered a top 3 forward prospect, top 5 prospect for the sharks. Well that's my take, hopefully this is what you're looking for.
