Agreed. I don't see him being traded this year. Curious question for you, What do you think Suzuki is worth? A 4th or 5th seems right to me. From the outside he looks like a bust. Maybe a 3rd or 4th line center ceiling?

I think Joseph would cost at least a 2nd to move. His contract is awful and he doesn't stay healthy.

I would say yes to the Labanc trade, I'm not sure why the SJS would do the Couture trade though. They have zero reason to get rid of him for what you are offering, they don't need the cap space, and it seems like they get nothing in return for taking on +5mil in cap space.

This is by far the best Karlsson trade I have seen on here. It's the only one I would accept so far. Not only that but you didn't put SJS over the cap or contract limit, well done.

solving cap issues
Why would a rebuilding team want Nylander who will want over 9mil/year? So SJS take on 20mil in cap, a net +10mil in cap space. The trade would also put SJS over the 50 contract limit and over the cap by 5mil. Just no, on some many levels.

I think the 2nd in the Petry trade would go the other way, and that 4th would be a 3rd. Essentially it would cost a 1st to move Petry.

I would also say Benning is worth a second, and not just because of his value to a rebuilding SJS. He arguably has the best contract on the Shorks, excluding RFA's. And putting up 24 points on the worst team in the NHL, at 1.25 mil for 3 years is fantastic. The homer in me thinks he could fetch as much as a 1st at the trade deadline. Kind of like Goodrow with TBL.

That trade is pretty wild. It's like teams enjoy taking on 6mil in cap space for funsies these days, all essentially for a half eaten samich. I would guess Myers would cost at least a 3rd or 2nd to move, even if his salary would only be 1mil.

As long as you have Vlasic, you are off to a great start. I would add Ryan Johansen, Tyler Seguin and Jonathan Huberdeau. That's 48 goals for 28 million or 49 goals for 35 million if you include Vlasic, that's not bad!

Why not just have SJS retain half for future considerations at this point? These Karlsson trades keep getting worse. Honestly what part of the SJS trade is enticing for SJ.

I just love these Toronto trades for Karlsson, they are wild. So SJS gives him away for a family sized Snickers. SJS have 48 contracts, give us three and call it a day.

Why is it that so many people want Karlsson but give nothing for him? It's like Norris Trophy winning defenseman are traded every day with these offers, virtually no value. At this point why not have SJS retain half the cap hit for future considerations.

So SJS take on 20 mil in cap space and retain 3.5 mil for 4 years, give up a 2nd for a late 1st and a forward that doesn't fit into a rebuild. That is one of the most wild trades I've seen.

How to run a team
The value of the trade seems somewhat equal. I would get rid of the 2nd and 4th though. Barabanov and Strum are more of trade deadline cup contender trades with their contracts. The Shorks don't need to be giving away draft picks during their rebuild. With that said the SJS are rebuilding and don't need him, especially a LHD. They would be better off using that cap space on Bordeleau, Shak, Thrun and maybe Blackwood or Eetu. The M-NTC for the last three years on his contract isn't enticing either.

2020 1st Round Pick WPG
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMmaster13</b></div><div>Yikes? about the Markstrom for Jones trade I proposed yesterday can you let me know if this trade is fair?
To SJ
J. Markstrom
L. Jasek
To Van
M. Jones (17.5% retained)
Yegor Spiridonov
2022 First Round Pick
Let me know if this is fair and also direct some other SJ fans to this trade cause I want to know their take on this as well. Thanks man!</div></div>
I would say the trade is not fair and favors Van heavily. Even if the sharks really wanted to get rid of Jones and were willing to over pay to do so; this trade is a lot to offer up. Retaining 1mil on Jones of 5 years on a cap crunched team is a lot of dead money for a long time. Spiridonov is 19 and a top 3 prospect, possibly the best prospect in the sharks very thin prospect pipeline so that is a lot the give up. And the 2020 1st is wanted dearly buy the SJS fans as it feels like the sharks are without a 1st round pick more often then not. Markstrom is having a career year on a contract year so you are selling high on him witch is good; but he has yet to crack 30 wins and Jones is a lock for 30 wins plus. I don't know much about Jasek but he seems like a career AHL player with maybe top 9 NHL potential with a 25 point max production and is 22 years old. I just don't see the value anywhere unless the sharks absolutely needed to get rid of Jones; kinda like Toronto did with Marleau. A fair trade I would say Dell ,Chmelevski and a 3rd rd pick for Markstrom and Jasek. Chmelevski is having a rough year in the AHL, but is considered a top 3 forward prospect, top 5 prospect for the sharks. Well that's my take, hopefully this is what you're looking for.
