How To Fix This
The Shorks don't need to get rid of Quinn, they just need a coach who isn't going to destroy our prospects moral and development by playing them in the NHL and getting trounced 10-1 every week, ending a season with less than 20 points and a -90. Couture and Barabanov aren't going to do much for this team. Instead of losing 10-1, we will lose 6-1. Hanifin is 26 years old. He will be well past his prime by the time this team is anywhere near the playoffs. I'll take the two very high 2nds over Hanifin every time as a year one rebuilding team. Hoffman, Duclair, Labanc and Granlund all have negative value. By the time of the TDL, Duclair will have less than 20 points and be worth less than a 4th with half retained. As far as calling up ANY promising prospect, that is the firmest NO. Leave Gushchin and Muk in the AHL. Ozzy won't turn into anything, so call him up if you want, you can't ruin a bust. Just except that EDM or PIT will get Celebrini and that the Shorks will draft the safest pick, and not the one with the highest ceiling. We also wont draft any high end goalies and make excuses about how they are hard to judge.

Cant get worse
It can get a lot worse, and it will. We haven't even started to feel the pain. Playing our prospects on this team is a fantastic way to destroy their confidence and development. Wait until you feel the pain of ruining our top prospects and setting this ''not rebuild'' back 5-10 years. At this point you just have to laugh at the joke that is the Shorks.

Hockeys Hardest Rebuild 24-25
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>IconicHawk</b></div><div>Step 1: Fire David Quinn
Step 2: Sell every veteran with value
Step 3: Win the lottery and pick Celebrini
Step 4: Replace said veterans with new ones in free agency, also take on as many bad deals as possible and gain even more draft capital
Step 5: Be just as awful next season as you were this season
Step 6: Sit back and wait for the prospects to eventually develop fully
Step 7: Return to contention</div></div>
I'm curious with your point 6. You say sit back and watch the prospects develop. Do you play them in the NHL, or do you keep them as far away from this diseased cesspool as you can and play them in the AHL, to maximize their development?

One win isn't going to improve moral. Dead last is dead last. I'm sure everyone on the team knows it's going to be a very long and unexciting season. I suggest the shork fans do the same. This is why I highly recommended the shorks don't play their high end prospects in the NHL. This season will destroy Eklund and Bordeleau. Just like winning games, playing our prospects will do nothing positive. Their growth will stunt because of it and this ''retool''/not rebuild will take much longer. I'm calling it now.

The real question is why would a shorks fan want a win this year? If we're going to be this bad, we might as well break some records doing it. Do you remember what those three wins in the last 9 games did for us last year? Winning does absolutely nothing positive for the shorks.

Duclair and Barabanov are TDL trade chips. If they have good seasons you will be selling very low right now. Olausson and Hirvonen don't look they will turn into anything worth while. So you essentially gave away Duclair and Benning away for a 3rd. I would say easy no on all trades.

I'm not sure why shorks fans would like this deal. It's an easy no for me. There must be something in TImmins value that I don't see. He looks like an obvious bust to me. Peterson fits this team's rebuild, and looks like he could be the next Barabanov for the Shorks. If my assumptions about Timmins and Peterson are right, this deal is horrible.

As a shorks fan, I would say pass. That 1.4 mill worth of wiggle room is worth more than a 7th. I would say yes to a 4th + 5th, which is more than you would offer. He isn't wanted or needed, so the price goes up.

You want to know how I know you aren't a shorks fan? You're not delusionally optimistic, a Pollyanna if you will. Now we just need to learn how to lose properly for the next 4 four years. You know your team sucks when they can't even lose right.

We won't. We have Grier at the helm who is supported by delusional fans. We have a lovely echo chamber of Pollyanna's around here. I have us booked for at least a decade of failed rebuild.

Sharks Land Celebrini Trade for Andersson and Sign Nylander Reinhart Samsonov
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HShockey</b></div><div>Rushing the rebuild is a bad idea, that defence isn't good either. SJ already has a young core intact (Eklund, Smith) and if they tanked for another 2-3 years, they have the chance to land 1 maybe 2 GENERATIONAL talents (Macklin, Misa, or McKenna) which is crazy to think about.
In 5-6 years, when Nylander, Reinhart, and Andersson start regressing and Hertl and Couture are washed up, your likely going to have do re-tool again while your stars (Celebrini, Smith, Eklund) hit their prime. Therefore, SJ should tank it to the ground for another 2-3 seasons and build a potential dynasty instead of rushing it</div></div>
I fully agree. As a shorks fan it amazes me how many SJS fans think we will be, and want us back in the playoffs in 2/3 years. To make it worse, Grier wants cap space now, I think that shows what his plan is. We have zero need for cap space for the next 4 years. I'm so ready for the failed rebuild, it's going to be great! Go Grier!

Nylander
It will be very interesting to see the return for Nylander. Just like the shorks with Karlsson and Meier, the entire league knows you aren't in a position of power. Nylander will also be a UFA at the end of the season, unlike Meier was, further decreasing his value. Him wanting 10 mil will also decrease his value and the number and of offers. Let the games begin.

So the rebuilding shorks give up a 3rd and a 5th for two players on the wrong side of 31. And as an added bonus, they give up assets to help you unload 6.5 mil in cap space. Good stuff! Keep it coming!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rob32sjsharks</b></div><div>Sharks get the 1st once you get into the ECF why are we giving back Zetterlund for free?</div></div>
It's a gamble, and one I would take. I doubt NJD make the ECF, so we will get a late 2nd, not the 1st. Zetterland is worth a 4th, so a 4th and a late 2nd for a late 1st is a good deal. This trade assumes Zetterland will continue to suck, and that the NJD will not make the ECF. I think realistically both of those assumptions are accurate.

I would say your value to dump Pearson is accurate, but only for a team that doesn't have to value it's cap space, like NSH, BUF, CHI and ANA. Asking SJ to use up the rest of their cap space wiggle room for a 3rd and 4th is a tough call. I think at most we could get a 2nd utilizing that cap space, so your 3rd and 4th isn't far off. It just doesn't leave a lot of room for activities.

Why wouldn't the Nucks just send Myers down to the minors? What am I missing? Either way, what does SJ get out of this trade? We have 5 d-man fighting for that last spot, why make it 6? If SJ could just send Myers to the minors, then we would want a 5th just for doing the paper work.

Sure why not? With Grier at the helm, you can take back Edstrom, change the 1st to a 3rd, and we'll retain half on Tomas for you. If you have any other cap dumps we'll take them too. No retention needed!

Easy pass from SJ. We aren't giving up our best contract for Kulak, who we don't want or need. We have too many LHD as is, and a rebuilding team doesn't need a 29 year old, 3rd pair LHD. The value is close if the trade is wanted, but the trade isn't wanted, therefor the value isn't there.

At least Timmins is a RHD, so you get a point for that. We already have 5 d-men fighting for that last spot, I'm not sure why we would want to make that 6. SJ wouldn't take him for free, let alone pay an early 4th.

He does have good size, and would easily lead our team in hits and blocked shots for years to come. What pick are you thinking? I don't think CBJ do it for anything less than a 3rd, and I'm not sure I would pay that. I would do a 4th all day with no retention though.

I don't know if retaining on Labanc and using up our last retention slot would be wise for a 3rd paid d-man in Peeke. Let's save that slot to acquire an asset like a 2nd or 1st at the TDL.

Why not just waive Myers, what am I missing? That's what most teams you trade him to would do anyway. I would say add a 6th just for the inconvenience of the paperwork.
