How To Fix This

Created by: JoeThorntonsBeard
Team: 2023-24 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 7, 2023
Published: Nov. 7, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
#1 - Fire David Quinn This Month ( It just needs to be done, I like Quinn but this needs to happen)
#2 - Logan Couture Comes back this month
#3 - Barabonov comes back at the end of the month
#4 - Trade and sign Noah Hanifin - 6 years @ 6 Million (Won't stay in calgary and we desperately need a puck moving d-man) (I think this is fair value? 2 very high seconds, and a Solid Prospect in Bordeleau that needs a change, and a young shutdown d-man)
#5 - Trade 2 or all of Hoffman, Duclair, Labanc and Granlund for whatever we can get leading up to the TDL.
#6 - Call up Gushchin, (Scoring) Weisblatt, (Energy) Mukhamadulin and give them all a legit shot. (Also Would like to see Robins & Gawanke at some point)
#7 - Hope and pray for Celebrini !

I'm pretty sure every single team says no to your trades (Maybe not the flames, but Hanifin probably doesn't want to play in San Jose).

Hawks obviously decline. Why would a team in year two of a full rebuild trade away picks for an overpaid pending UFA? Hawks counter with Lebanc and the Sharks '24 2nd for future considerations. That's a lot more realistic.

Calgary declines. Hanifin is worth more than a pair of 2nds and a couple nobodies.

Noah Hanifin won't stay in Calgary but apparently he would jump at the opportunity to play in San Jose

The Shorks don't need to get rid of Quinn, they just need a coach who isn't going to destroy our prospects moral and development by playing them in the NHL and getting trounced 10-1 every week, ending a season with less than 20 points and a -90. Couture and Barabanov aren't going to do much for this team. Instead of losing 10-1, we will lose 6-1. Hanifin is 26 years old. He will be well past his prime by the time this team is anywhere near the playoffs. I'll take the two very high 2nds over Hanifin every time as a year one rebuilding team. Hoffman, Duclair, Labanc and Granlund all have negative value. By the time of the TDL, Duclair will have less than 20 points and be worth less than a 4th with half retained. As far as calling up ANY promising prospect, that is the firmest NO. Leave Gushchin and Muk in the AHL. Ozzy won't turn into anything, so call him up if you want, you can't ruin a bust. Just except that EDM or PIT will get Celebrini and that the Shorks will draft the safest pick, and not the one with the highest ceiling. We also wont draft any high end goalies and make excuses about how they are hard to judge.
