Why wouldn’t the sharks just go for Speke themselves if that’s all it takes?

Caps don’t touch that. Kuznetsov is the much better player at the much more important position. Kuznetsov’s worst season is far better than Garland’s best and Kuznetsov doesn’t make nearly enough against the Salary Cap to justify trading him for a worse player at a position WSH doesn’t need while someone needs to play the offensive 1B/2A Center role while the Caps set Ovi up to chase the Goals record. WSH won’t be doing this.

I don't know if retaining on Labanc and using up our last retention slot would be wise for a 3rd paid d-man in Peeke. Let's save that slot to acquire an asset like a 2nd or 1st at the TDL.

Peeke has good size and is still very young, I would take a flyer on him plus CBJ may be willing to opt for a pick rather than the retention!

He does have good size, and would easily lead our team in hits and blocked shots for years to come. What pick are you thinking? I don't think CBJ do it for anything less than a 3rd, and I'm not sure I would pay that. I would do a 4th all day with no retention though.

I like Garland but kuznetsov is a better player. The value isn’t there for the caps.

Peekes a good bet, would avoid Kuznetsov. Showing all the signs of a dramtic downturn.

Peeke's available, but Columbus has no interest in Labanc at all.

I was thinking a 4th but in this draft a 3rd would be fine honestly (weaker drafts like this one a 3rd is essentially a late 4th, plus sharks almost never hit in 3rds anyways just look at our draft history)

Sharks could give up a 3rd/4th to a third team to retain. I'm sure a lot of our deadline deals will have part of the returns going to a 3rd team to retain

He's a guy that at the trading deadline overpays could get you a mid/late 2nd but right now I can't see us moving him for less than a middle 3rd. He still has alot of value and honestly wouldn't be shocked if he's kept here over someone like Boqvist.

I was saying Labanc and a 3rd/4th. Felt that could be fair.
