Why would SJS do this trade? A second to take on 9mil in cap over three years for a player that is over payed by 2mil, and give up a 5th. I get Grier sucks, but this is an easy pass.

SJS are okay with letting Labanc walk, I suggest you do the same with Myers. Believe it or not some players have negative value. Either pay up or wait out their contracts.

These Myers trades are almost as bad as the Karlsson trades. Why are the SJS the target of this trade? I'd like to see the reaction of other teams offered this trade. Why does dumping 6million in cap space cost the other team picks for the privilege of doing you a favor? I get fans are very cheap in these armchairs but these Myers trades are awful. Either pay up or wait and let him walk, it's that easy.

That's part of the problem with the Nylander trade, it gives SJS another headache looking for trade partners, just to get more assets. As for trade partners for Nylander you could go by teams with the least GF last year. So going by that metric ANA, CHI and CBJ fit that criteria. All have at least 4.7 mil in cap space right now. ANA is in division and conference, CHI is in conference and CBJ is out of conference. So going by in / out of conference preference CBJ is best. Out of those three teams CBJ is in win now mode, and looking at the age of their roster, Nylander fits that age bracket well. The problem with them is that they are already a top heavy team, and don't have a lot of tradable contracts to make room for Nylander. Roslovic and Bean look like the best assets to add to the trade. So maybe something like Nylander for Roslovic + 1st and 3rd, or Nylander for Roslovic, Bean and a 1st. Bean looks injury prone so I don't put much value on him.

Sens are also not interested to trade Chabot. No idea what it would take for them to change their mind but this is not it
https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/750232
:tearsofjoy</div></div>
I agree to disagree. Joseph is overpaid by at least 2 mil. It's not hard to find a forward that can put up 18 points for 800K that you can send back and forth to the AHL. I'll have a look at your thread to see what value you put on Joseph. It seems by your comment that you believe he has positive value. A 1st and a 4th might be high, I just wanted a trade that Chicago fans would accept without complaint. I would say a 2nd and 3rd is closer to the value, but I could see many fans not accepting that deal, I could be wrong. As for trading Chabot there weren't a lot of contracts that had enough salary to move with no trade clauses, and contracts that weren't recently signed. With Sanderson coming up, Chabot fit that criteria the best.

At least he didn't trade a top 15 goalie in the NHL, that you traded a 2nd for, to your number 1 IN division rival for a 4th that ended up winning them the cup. That one will take time to get over. In comparison of those blunders, those bad contracts aren't so bad.

I think Dumba would be lucky to get offered 2 mil right now. We also have 12 D-men looking for a roster spot, we don't want Dumba. And I wouldn't buy out Labanc or Simek, just let them walk.

Hertl wants to stay in SJ through the rebuild, he just signed his contract, and has a full NMC for the next two years. Egor looks like a bust, and Barrie doesn't fit into a rebuilding team who already has 12 NHL defenseman looking for a spot on the team. The picks are nice but I would want another 1st thrown in for retaining that salary. That's a lot of years to be using up one of three retention slots. Without retention maybe turn the 3rd into a 2nd.

Trade Chabot while you can
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mike7856</b></div><div>With the cap going up, only notable player needing to be signed is Sanderson. They are ok in future years, it’s really this year that the cap hurts mainly with all the dead cap they have. Plus, Chabot seems injury prone because he’s been one manning this D corp since 2019 lol he’ll be fine with reduced minutes</div></div>
So what are your thoughts on what to do with Pinto and Sokolov? Just give them a qualifying offer and hope they don't sit out a whole year? What are your thoughts on what to do with Joseph? Keep him or trade him, and what would you give up to trade him?

I would keep him for another year and see if he has a better season, at least enough to trade him without needing to give up assets. His numbers in the playoffs look good, maybe he can turn it around.

I'm not the one trying to get rid of Labanc. I understand no one wants him. I would just let him go at the end of his contract this year instead of taking on Joseph's contract. As for Brannstrom, I don't care. He can skate past an entire team, but at the end of the day if he ends a season with 2 goals and 18 points that skill doesn't add up to much. If he's so solid you keep him. And talking about sweeteners, where is the sweetener for taking on Joseph's horrible contract? Let me guess, he is solid too and doesn't need any sugar.

Karlsson stays
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AStovetop</b></div><div>With AHL performance, you can't look at point totals and say he's not ready until they dominate. This Cuda team was not good, the only impact players were rookies. I watched around 70% of the cuda games and I can confidently say Eklund is beyond ready. If they were to keep him in the AHL, I hope they have him pay a majority of the time at Center though
Also why do you have that impression about Thrun? Have you seen him in interviews? Kid is humble as hell</div></div>
If you say Eklund is ready for the NHL, as in he will put up 40-50 points, then yes he is ready. I want him to put up over 60 and I don't see him doing that this year, hence why I don't think he is ready.
As for Thrun it rubs me the wrong way when teams draft a player and that player doesn't sign with them. It comes off as very selfish and the opposite of a team player. I'll admit I haven't read anything about the circumstances of why Thrun didn't sign with the Quacks. That alone makes me think he is the kind of guy to demand a trade if he doesn't get what he wants. I haven't watched any of his interviews.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jakdonaghy</b></div><div>100% agree. I'd even keep Eklund down until injury or trade opens up a spot or he is absolutely torching the AHL. A great opportunity for the youngsters to bond playing in Cuda in what would hopefully be a winning team. With Thrun as long as they retain his RFA rights at least they could trade him for assets? But it seems like Thrun, Gawanke and Pulli all came to Sharks in hopes of a shot at NHL, which is odd to me because the Sharks already have 7 D men on NHL contracts?</div></div>
I would absolutely send Eklund down. I want to see him at a point per game for a full season in the AHL before he gets called up. The same goes for Mukhamadullin, although I think he is the closest to being ready out of all the prospects. Let Zetterlund and Zadina show use what they can do in the meantime. As with Thrun, yes we could retain his rights. But if he gets mad at being sent down, he seems like the kind of guy who would ask for a trade, and that would ruin his potential value. I would rather keep him in the NHL and happy, so he is more likely to sign and increase his value latter on down the line. As for the other d-man you mentioned SJS love to shuffle their 6-7 d-man. I could see them all playing 10 games or so this season. I don't see it being much of a problem sending Knyzhov and Burroughs down if needed. No one will want their contracts.

I believe Arizona wanted to send Timmins to the minors but didn't want to risk him on waivers. So they traded him for an insanely huge C prospect in Douglas.</div></div>
That make much more sense if he needed to go through waivers. I said it's wild because they traded what looked like a potential 2nd line d-man for what is the equivalent of a young John Scott. I should have looked more closely at Timmins. I thought he wasn't given a chance to play, but it seems he is very injury prone. I now see I was wrong and take back my claim of it being a wild trade. Thanks for the info.

I'm probably the minority on this but I think the kids should play in the AHL. The only one I would put in the NHL is Thrun, because he will probably leave if forced to play in the AHL. It’s 1000% more likely he’d be included in some sort of package where a team assigns a decent value to him than just being shipped out for a dart throw pick.</div></div>
I wasn't suggesting that the Canes trade him. I just wanted to know what a Canes fan thought he was worth. I totally agree trading him for basically nothing is not the move and that they should hold onto him to see if he progresses or until they find someone that values him above market value.
