Owner will want the better player. If he makes a splash, I expect more some FA signings like Marchessault and Stamkos

It's Matheson's job to lose. And Hutson's position to earn. Period.

I'm saying Matheson is, and has always been, a placeholder for PP1. With or without Hutson around. Hutson is just the first player who can realistically contest Matheson's claim to PP1. So I say give 20-year-old Hutson the opportunity to showcase his talents with MTLs best players. and Let 30-year-old Matheson be the one to "fix" PP2, where he is much better suited for.
Again, grand schemes of things. PP1 should be:
Caufield - Dach - Salfkovsky
Suzuki - Hutson
PP2 should have something like:
Roy - Newhook - (someone)
Matheson - Xhekaj/Mailloux/Reinbacher</div></div>
Dude I wasn’t putting words in your mouth. The first part of my comment was towards you and the second part was a comment towards the media. I even made them two separate paragraphs so you hopefully wouldn’t mistake my meaning.
I meant no offense, just trying to temper my fellow Hab fans’ expectations.
I assume St.Louis will start him out with a partner who can handle himself and play him mostly sheltered minutes, maybe give him some looks on the PP and that’s cool with me. Earn your stripes young man.

Have you seen his numbers? This guy played with a team that had Celebrini and Huston and still did not manage to hit 1pts/game after 4 years of NCAA hockey. Even with his style of play and size, I don't see him with a futur in the nhl

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>Good player, good signing.
Lane’s size is always going to be a question. But it has been at every level and every year, he has continued to exceed expectations. When he first was called up onto the USA squad for U18 worlds in his D-1 year (ahead of Casey and Chesley), everyone thought it was a typo (he was listed at five-foot-six-inches). After a summer of bulking up, he went into his draft year at 5’7” and around 140 lbs and eventually became best offensive dman for NTDP. In his pre-draft interviews, he brought medical stats that said he would grow to at least 5’10” (imagine that kind of pressure…”grow now!”).
At Boston University, he had two fantastic seasons. He was Hobey Baker top-10 finalist as a Freshman dman (can count on one hand how many have accomplished that). This year, the Hutson-Celebrini duo on BU’s power play was one of the best we have seen in years (it would be very cool to see the two pair up again at next level).
Hutson will be one of the most fun players to watch grow into a NHLer. I will be rooting for him.</div></div>
Well said. Even if he wasn’t a Habs’ prospect I’d be rooting for him.

I'm not taking away how good Matheson and his 60 point season has been. But in the grand scheme of things, Matheson has always been a placeholder for PP1 because there was literally no other solid option. Let's see what Hutson can do with Caufield, Slaf, etc. I could care less about our current PP2 with Gallagher and Anderson...</div></div>

At last, the weird worrying that he might not sign in Montreal even though there’s never been the slightest indication that was an issue can stop.
Expectations for what he’ll do in the Detroit games are probably going to be way too high, but I’m excited to see him in uniform.

He'll be great to watch despite his mistake that led to a Denver goal.
That was the worst refereed college game I've ever seen. Those refs deserve to be in the NHL. Boston University got cheated good.

He put up 60pts this season, I would say he’d be one of the least worried dmen in Montreal. He’ll be a great mentor to Hutson, maybe finally we’ll have 2 solid PP units.
