Factual Deadline day trades part 2

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FullSend</b></div><div>Lol I didn’t even see that, yeah Leafs run with that. But look at the Oilers trade😭 no chance in hell</div></div>
No troll here. Edmonton finally get their number 1 goalie and goalies don’t come cheap. Korpi is very underrated. Broberg is struggling to find ice time in the NHL and needs a change of scenery.
Toronto one seems to not cause problems
Philly one: they need depth scoring which Roslovic provides and Frost, same as Broberg, can’t find ice time even tho he’s ready for the NHL and you add a 2nd/1st cause that’s the price right now (reminder Foligno cost a 1st even tho he was injured)
The Calgary one, Calgary gets a top 4 dman and a decent defensive 4th liner, seems like a fair trade to me

What could this team look like
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>beantownboy17</b></div><div>An expansion draft like this would be very hard for Seattle to pull off, it would take some serious luck and negotiation for some of these packages to protect certain players that I don't think will happen. That being said, this is a very competitive team right off the bat, but lacks young talent to build on for the next few years. What Vegas did incredibly well was bring in young players with something to prove, secure draft and prospect capital. This setup doesn't really do that for Seattle. They would make the playoffs for the first year, maybe 2nd, then drastically fall off.</div></div>
made some changes to the team to make it younger cause I do agree i thought too much about being competitive now and draft but not the rest. To explain some of the draft compensations, Carolina was to protect Bean and Fast who I think would both be taken before Gardiner. For Minnesota it's to protect Dumba, which I thought I was already unpaying but again, picks can be swapped. As I've said before Devils is to protect whoever is free between Bratt, Wood or Zacha. NYR is really to get rid of DeAngelo's contract and I think Seattle jump on that offer cause he's still a damn good hockey player if he can shut his mouth about politics. Tampa is to free up cap space with both gone and go sign other players instead. Toronto is to protect Holl. Winnipeg is to protect Lowry

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Devil1122</b></div><div>Devils are protecting Zacha 100%
This would be the protection list
F: Hischier, Zacha, Bratt, Wood, Sharangovich, Kuokkanen, McLeod
D: Severson, Subban, Siegenthaler
G: Blackwood</div></div>
unless the Devils sign either Merkley or Bastian to a deal before the expansion draft, the Devils do not meet the requirements of forward exposure. they wish they could keep Zacha, Bratt or Wood but for now with the contracts they have, 1 has to be left unprotected and then they trade to protect the one who is left unprotected. Go check on the expansion draft tool in here, you'll see there's a little 2/2 1/1 etc besides the team and that's what it is about.

For Johnsson, you're not paying to get rid of him, you're paying to protect Zacha. I had to either leave Zacha, Bratt or Wood and for all 3 they'd rather keep them
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>IconicHawk</b></div><div>Same with Mangiapaine</div></div>
For Mangiapane, it's either him, Matthew Tkachuk, Monahan or Gaudreau that they let go. Seems pretty obvious. For Vatrano, you can swap him with Wallmark, whoever is left unprotected, won't change much. For Rust, I do agree I overlooked him in the protection so instead the Kraken would select Teddy Blueger/ZAR, whoever of the 2 is free.

for both Mangiapane and Pavelski, teams need 2 forwards signed for 21-22 who have played at least 41 games this season or 70 over the last 2 to be eligible for the expansion draft. Although i'm sure they would love to keep them both, I don't see anybody else these teams could let go that would make sense.
For NYR, buying out ADA would mean having a part of his cap for the next 3 or 4 seasons. So instead of having that weighing them down, they are basically dumping his contract via the draft expansion and they give up a 1st. Seems pretty fair to me.
Also, I only used picks and not prospects cause they are way too polarizing. Some think they're gonna be the next big thing, some think they're horrendous. So I took the easy route and only traded picks. Are the trades off? maybe, but it's easily fixable, switch 2nds for 3rds and 1sts for a 2nd and a 3rd/ 4th and you're good, doesn't change much.

I completely forgot Larkin and I don't think Gaudreau misses because he's not good but because all the young players will take a pretty big leap by that time
for the Dmen, I cannot in good conscience put Petry over any of these guys so you're stuck with at least 2 lines where it's offensive dmen cause that's all the US have honestly. Unless a player like Carlo takes a massive leap, I don't see how you can make this defense more defensive
also sorry Pens fans but you overrate Guentzel and Rust, they're not better than any forward on this team cause they're definitely not better than Gaudreau who would be the last cut.

For fun Complete rebuild
I honestly thought I made good trades but thanks for the insight, I'm not the biggest Bruins follower. Honestly thought Coyle was better than that. But I would like to at least defend 2 trades.
First the Bergeron trade is fair in my book, cause Bergeron is a rental, he could always sign back with you if he wants next year. But since he's a rental you can't ask for 3 1st and 5 high end prospect. You still get a 1st and 2 very good prospect and one who's NHL ready. Yes it's underwhelming but he's a rental, you can't ask for a team's entire future.
The Rangers trade, you're getting 2 1st, Buchnevich and Chytil who can replace Debrusk and half a Marchand, and 2 dmen with natural talent to replace Carlo, and if they go back to what we know they're capable of, this trade would honestly be a win for the Bruins in my book. It's the biggest gamble but if it works out, this would be a total fleecing I think.
Obviously this would be heartbreaking but in the end this team gets younger with a lot of guys who could thrive in a bigger role, a bit like the Golden Knights had when they came into the league, and you're getting a way better prospect pool.

i think we found a worst gm than JR, good job.
first trade is fair in term of value but Dallas would never do that, they want a cup now and Gurianov is better than Parise
2nd is laughable. Reilly is a top 10 dman and you're gonna give just 1 1st and 3 waste of cap. Bruh
3rd trade, MTL get absolutely no future value for Danault, a 40-50 point scorer. Bjugstad being a guy that was injured and Foligno being an healthy scratch. disgusting
4th trade just doesn't work for the cap
5th trade, bruh. 3 2nd for a bum goalie that is meh at best,
6th trade Mike Smith is worse than Talbot, just no

y not
1) Gudbranson is one of the worst dmen in the league right now, his contract is the only reason he's still in the league, so hell no don't give Kulak for him, it's a waste of money and space
2) Galchenyuk has been bad for the last 3 seasons and he needs top 6 minutes to gain back his confidence and maybe bounce back, which he will not get in Montreal. I know Byron costs a lot but Chucky is not the answer to replace him, i'd rather just get picks for Byron than getting Galchenyuk.
3) Vancouver would never do that, Miller fits way better in the team and is slightly better than Tatar and they don't need to trade him to fit the cap next year, cause it will be easier to trade Eriksson away and you have a lot of big contracts coming out so they'll be alright to sign Demko and Pettersson
4) maybe the only trade i'd say both team could say yes, if Montreal is not a playoff contender at the trade deadline. Which i doubt a lot but who knows

yeah i know, might have gone too overkill, but it's easier to value picks than actual prospects, cause i don't necessarily know if the other team overvalues or undervalues it, so i went for the easy route. But i agree that's too many picks

Letang is always injured so no, and he's not that good anymore, he's a defensive liability. And your top 4 isn't even in the top 15 of the league, I'm sorry to tell you but the glory days of the Penguins is over, it's just that JR, and you apparently, don't see it.
