<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Unbiased_Hawks_Fan</b></div><div>As sad as I am about Crawford. We should honestly be excited about our young goalies. I mean, aren't supposed to be excited for Lankinen and Delia? Weren't we supposed to believe that one day they could hold the mantle. I still think the hawks pursue a starting goalie this offseason tho. I also think Bowman gets too much hate, but apparently I'm the only Hawks fan that thinks that.</div></div>

... thus it can’t be called sport without the legion of fans who have the rite to express their opinion about what a manager did or didn’t do. What sometimes fans forget is the “fan” has limited information about a decision, and emotion which can rule the head.

I waited 49 years to watch this franchise become champions, and to be fortunate to watch two more championships was a privileged. I have seen some pretty pitiful clubs along this journey, and the current roster is light years ahead of those horrible clubs.

What I have seen differently over this last decade is this franchise has created a culture of winning. If you aren’t good enough to qualify for post season, then changes must be made. And sometimes changes are not popular but still need to get done.

Oh my God! The team hasn’t played one game, and so many have already doomed the season. And what if they get off to a slow start? So what? This team needs to continue its youth movement. The New York Rangers are the new model for today’s NHL.

There is much to be excited about this club. Can they realistically compete for the cup? Hell no. Could anybody say yes in back in 2007or 2008?

The NHL is the best professional league for parity. It is damn difficult to repeat as Stanley Cup finalists, yet be champions. Just ask the Blues &amp; the Bruins? The Hawks made it to the Conference final, five times in seven years. For me, that is a the dynasty. Hawks fans relish that feat.

Thread: Whats Next
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hockeyfan78</b></div><div>First, if you have not, I would quickly watch any SJS video urinatingtree did. Not that I fully agree with them (being honest I don't really know much about the team), but I do find it easier to make a decision on something if I know the pros and cons about someone or something. Because most of what I know about Doug Wilson is from those videos I will keep my opinion out of who I think the next president should be. For GM, honestly I am not a huge fan of JBB. I mean Yzerman really built the team in Tampa Bay and JBB really just inherited them. I could agree with bringing in Megan Chayaka to help out with analytics and even as a tactical decision to give Chicago some good press, however maybe as an AGM or a member of the scouting department. Call me crazy but if/when Stan is fired, I would like to see Chris Chelios act as a temporary GM or even as president. This dude is a hockey psycho who played until the age of 48. After playing he was immediately hired to a front office position by the Red Wings. Since then Chelios has also been an Assistant Coach for the WJC USA Hockey team, the Red Wings, and the 2018 USA Olympic Team. Personally I would like to see what he would do with the team over a short time span as a GM first. If it doesn’t go well then at least he could teach Megan Chayka what he knows, further making her a prime candidate to replace him. There is also the entire possibility that this move is already in the works. Sliding in replacements through the side door does seem to be a common theme for this organization. Remember when Joel Quenneville was hired as a “scout”? If Chelios was going to be president the announcement would have been made by now so I really see him more as GM. He knows how to develop players, know how the front office works, has coaching experience, and scouting experience. As for coaching, I couldn't agree more. I hate Colliton with a passion but there was one thing I think they did right by promoting him, bringing in a fresh face. He had no experience as a NHL coach and wasn’t a recycled coach from a different team. Although Scott Sandelin has no NHL coaching experience either, Colliton is nowhere close to his level.

Edit: Sorry for the large paragraph</div></div>

No need to apologize! Good information.

I do love urinating tree a lot! I get all that he says and there is plenty of merit. Reason I like Wilson in the president role is because he doesn’t need to sign any contracts, he just needs to put the right people in the right roles. I agree Yzerman made the Lightning, not JBB, which is why I lean more towards Brandon Pridham instead. Guy knows the CBA front back and sideways. It would be nice to have a “mind” like Megan Chayka as AGM, cuz he clearly has experience evaluating talent. Finally, I love Scott Sandelin, and I would be over the moon if the hawks went after him.

It's a good question, but 1 specific guy in VAN isn't the benchmark. He can't be the benchmark. No Calder winner or 2nd place vote getter can seriously be a real benchmark. That means everyone that doesn't meet the benchmark of one specific guy...would be failing... IE...if you're not Patrick Kane...you suck.

Also, what makes you think that VAN is actually good at developing their players??? Olli Juolevi...Jake Virtanen...That's a #5OA and #6OA that are either busts or WAY over drafted at this point. Kudos to Hughes. He's absolutely an offensive beast and VAN puts him in positions to succeed with defensive partners.

I think the Hawks strength is scouting and development. It's tough to judge development when they're only 19 years old. Those 2 players are still at the adolescence stages of their development....rookie years. I've said this many times...development takes time. It just does. I think you need to go back a little further for true development....AND...you need to ignore the trades. That'll be the hardest part. Stan's traded a bunch of those guys away. BUT this isn't talking about trades. Stan's also found a lot of diamonds in the rough. How many teams found a Kubalik? Stan's done it twice....Panarin. Kuba and Panarin were set up for success. That's a big part of development. Having guys like Toews/Kane that know they're better off when the team's winning...and the team wins when all the players get better collectively.

Even #1OA's take time to develop...Rasmus Dahlin, Jack Hughes, Nico Hirschier...none of those #1OAs are dominating the league right now. Proper development is a huge part and to me...the bad teams are AZ, EDM (Chia anyway), and NJD. Then it gets more subjective. I'd actually put VAN near the lower end of Development. Teams like TOR, BOS, TBL (Stevie Y anyway). They do a really good job.

Thread: FIRE BOWMAN
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sebybbq</b></div><div>And as a fan i cannot support moron people who doesn’t know nothing about the game, always complaining about everything thinking they would do better and coming up with unrealistic trade or idea without knowing anything on how salary cap work’s. Plus talon left in 2009 after giving horrible contract to cam barker, brian cambell. Bowman drafted andrew shaw and saad krueger and acquired leddy and a bunch of pick that help build the 2 cup after. He add to manage the cap that tallon left him but its easier to blast bowman when you know nothing. I not saying that he done just good move but he deserve more credit and lately he have done a good job racking up pick and building bug prospect pool on defense. So no as a fan based you should shut up and chear for your team.</div></div>

Okay, you had some decent points to make as long as you stay on hockey, I’m not listening to this crap people say dissing people’s knowledge, cuz it’s bull****. I could just as easily say you don’t know Jack either.

Here’s your problem, firstly, stop thinking people are trying to insist they could do better. No one in their right mind should think that short Paul Fenton being your GM. Fans come here to VENT. I don’t care how illogical it is until it borders on insanity. Last time I checked, bowman has built up 2 and a half years of bad graces. Plus, he believes big and slow in a faster NHL is apparently the path to success.

So Tallon left the team with a bad cap. Let’s look at that. Barker got us a promising defenseman in leddy, doesn’t seem like a horrible situation. Campbell’s contract? Traded to Florida WHILE he was still fantastic. Not a bad situation. Big buff, ladd, Versteeg, Niemi, sopel, eager? ALL LEFT FOR HUGE RETURN! What the **** did Tallon put us in?! Seriously this boggles my ****ing mind!!! Yet, bowman trades teravainen, panarin, danault, signs that ridiculous seabrook deal, trades a first for broken Ladd, then does whatever this summer was suppose to accomplish? What history or knowledge are we ****ing missing?! Bowman was left with a cup winner, a prime core, and trade pieces every team paid top dollar for. He drafted saad and Shaw, cool, awesome role players that grew to semi core pieces. Anything else?

Seriously, go ahead and share your opinion, but don’t be so high and mighty to think yours is always the end all be all. I don’t think you know much either, doesn’t mean it’s true. Plus I won’t actually say that to you because this is a place for opinions!!!!!! We all as hawks fans are disgusted with the gross mismanagement, but don’t be stupid enough that we won’t keep cheering on the hawks. I’ve been since I was 3 and a half in 1994, I’ve seen all the highs and lows. I’ll gladly call out any member of the organization if I think they lack the passion I have. So respect others’ passion as well, cuz I won’t disrespect your giving bowman a pass. Plus, if you really I or anyone else on this site is dumb or has no hockey knowledge, then we’re beneath you and you should just leave us alone.
