Weren't these not the opening night D pairings? Idk why I thought that, but they looked super familiar seeing Seig/Subban together and Smith/Severson. Maybe im thinking end of year last year. And I thought beginning of the year Lindy tried to keep the Hughes, Kuok, Shara line together before the wingers fell off a cliff/Hughes got hurt. That's why i felt like the only line that significantly changed for me was 3rd line here.

But either way, looks good.

Some good points and some points i slightly disagree on. Yeah we have arguably one of the biggest set of defensemen in the league, but we are also the softest team to play against. You know why teams take runs at Jack and the some of the other players? Its because no one sticks up for themselves. Hughes won't fight anyone. Zacha, Yegor, Kuokkanen, Seigenthaler, Bratt, Tatar wont either.

And I'm not talking about getting a goon strictly for fighting. But this group is the type to get pushed around and not push back. You're correct in saying that we don't need goons, we need adults...but i think we also just need to change our mentality as a team. We have too many of the "skill" type players and not enough of the gritty, get in your face, pest type players. So your comparisons above could be good fits for our roster, but i think its our mentality that needs to change.

We need to have an F U mentality and not just skate away when we get pushed around. Also...one thing that i think a ton of devils fans are forgetting about is that Miles Wood hasn't played this year. Wood is literally the type of player that the devils are missing currently. You get him and maybe 1-2 more physical/hard-nosed players and then i think we are competitive

Gotcha gotcha. I'm just trying to wrap my head around the whole cap situation with Parise and Suter being bought out. So If you got Dvorak at $4.5 mil, and Kirill at $8.5 mil, and then Fiala resigns at $6 mil, you're around $19-20 mil in those 3 guys with $6 mil in cap space to play.

Maybe you guys can answer this for me: How would that affect you next year in 2022? Cuz i'm looking at capfriendly and it says you'll have roughly the same cap space this offseason as next offseason. But next offseason you'll only have $6 mil to work with and only 12 guys technically rostered. Is the fix just like bringing rookies up/guys on minimum contracts?

Again, not the most knowledgable with the Wild, but i feel like that situation would worry me next year, hence why i figured there was a minor cap problem coming up.

What are the chances of you guys getting Eichel? And how would that affect your cap situation at all? (that's me assuming Kirill get $8-9mil and Fiala gets $5-7mil)
