Exactly. If they can’t move him by retaining, they play him. They still need bodies to play games

I'm taking Sandin all day.
Gonna get roasted for this but Sandin > Ekholm</div></div>
You aren’t trading for Ekholm for goals

Preds Sell Big
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SupremeBone</b></div><div>EDM refuses. Even if Saros is a great goalie, they'd be stuck in a situation where they'd have 3 goalies occupying 12.6mil of their cap and will have spent 3 1sts and two middle-6 Ws to do it. Fabbro brings nothing to the table that adds value to the deal. If you want the 3 1sts for Saros, Campbell will have to be going back the other way which is why such a deal for Saros wouldn't work between the two teams.</div></div>
I’m fine with that

Def an over ask but with retaining salary they would want an over pay. NJ might not be the right target to try to get that overpay

The odds of a pick 25-32 (where Carolina likely picks from) becoming a full time NHL player is below 50%. It would be a smart trade for both teams.
As far as Saros, the Preds should trade him and they should ask for a haul. He’s a top 5 goalie but he’s useless to the Preds right now. All he is doing is single-handedly keeping the Preds from improving their draft spot.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AnalyticalGM</b></div><div>Wouldn't you rather play Davies/Farrance in that role, let them develop for 3 years so that the preds can be competitive in future.
Banking on Ghost to find his offensive prowess in a place like Nashville doesnt seem like a logical destination. Most players who come to NSH receive a massive drop in offensive production.
It be a different story if it was 2019 he was 26 coming off a down year. But hes almost 28, 3 years removed from 60 point season with 3 years left on contract. If Preds want to rebuild they have to play the youth. 4 D prospects are ready to enter the lineup. Carrier has looked great, Allard/Davies have produced well In A, are ready for a chance. Farrance dominated last two years in NCAA he is the most interesting of the group.</div></div>
I want future assets. Quantity and quality. If that means taking a contract off another team that’s bad for a few years but also has potential to turn into even more assets, I’m 100% on board. Having Ghost won’t limit or hurt Fattance or Fabbro as far as development

The Preds would get a haul, and Ghost would more so be included for a cap dump</div></div>
Perfect. I am not looking for Ghost to be productive. He's a body to fill while the Preds rebuild (which will take 3 years min) and its a bonus if he somehow turns his game around he could be flipped later with salary retained on a shorter contract. Its low risk with potential reward.

More Movement Next Season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>villenash</b></div><div>SEA definitely has some interesting options...
Carrier/Ingram — young, cheap, potential
Jarnkrok/Sissons/Grimaldi — scoring depth, good contracts (might even like the contract certainty of Sissons)
Johansen/Duchene — overpaid top 6 centers, bounce back candidates, for fans?
Cousins/Boro/Benning — trade-able depth</div></div>
If the Preds trade Ellis or Ekholm they pretty much control who Sea takes. One of them has to go not only for future assets but for the expansion.

Haula should be the must sell not sure why he's not included
Im hesitant to sell Ekholm, especially with the defensive pipeline being undersized offensive defensemen. Only move Ekholm if offered an elite forward prospect with a track record of providing offence. I think the Preds should resign Granlund (can still trade at deadline, and resign in offseason after expansion). He is a favourite of Hynes, players in all situations. Ideally, pawn Duchene to Seattle. !00% open to trading Arvidsson hes lacked production and the PReds need a top6 spot for Tomasino next szn
Im all-in on trading guys like Boro, Benning, Grimaldi, Haula,</div></div>
I am also good with Trading Haula. Just don't know if there is a return out there for him. Now that Ghost has cleared, I would absolutely be shopping Ekholm to Philly with Ghost returning and I would be asking for a HAUL. Frost, 1st, +

Nashville could have a bounce back year next year if they were to keep these guys but I don't think that it is unfair trade value.</div></div>
Nashville has no interest in Engvall or Kerfoot. They would only be coming back to balance money. Preds have an abundance of middle to lower 6 forwards. They are looking for futures only. Both trades are on the low end for Nashville and that’s assuming no salary is retained. With $4mil in salary retained, the offers are ridiculously low.

Overpay for Savard. He’s still decent and would stabilize the right side but he has declined over the last few years. Most I woud go is a 3rd and Gawanke or Nikkanen.</div></div>

Preds would want minimum 2 1st in any deal with both Forsberg and Ekholm plus it would cost a few A-Prospects. Plus that much salary retained would cost additional assets

I like it. I would ask for picks one round higher in a few trades but this is probably more realistic to what we would get. With it being a poor draft class, I would try to take advantage of GMs more willing to part with higher picks.

He's going to be better than a 60 point producer because Martin Necas didn't have that kind of success at 19, and he's already pushing 50 points as a 22 year old.</div></div>

End of the day, value is made up and fluctuates. Value is what someone is willing to pay. No one on the board knows what a GM is willing to pay for better chance at a cup or 2.
Washington once paid for a declining Martin Erat who was a rental and demanded to be traded with a Filip Forsberg.

What does age have to do with it. The point is AHL success and NHL success are not always a direct correlation. Same with KHL, NCAA, etc
