<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jojoyutz</b></div><div>No, offense is an issue, but not for hughes's wing. Hughes has Bratt, they are fine, but nico needs a winger. Zacha has really proven that he cannot be that guy and unfortunatly he will probably always be a raw talent that cant turn it into nhl success for his whole career. I truly believe nico will find a whole new gear on offense with a good line. He has so much skill and makes great plays every night but has no help from his current linemates.

I agree with you about the goaltending. We need someone to push Blackwood, we dont have that right now. Let him get healthy, get another good young goaltender and have them battle for the top spot.

We have 2 solid d-pairs. Graves-Hamilton is very good, and should be the top pair for a while in New Jersey. Seigenthaler-Severson has worked really well too, it lets Severson play his game and Seigenthaler provides great protection when damon makes mistakes. So we have a solid top 4, but after that it is just a dumpster fire. I personally see nothing in Ty Smith. Hes slow, cant defend and really doesnt provide much offense. Trade him while he has value. We have some strong LD in the pipeline with Mukhamadulin and Hughes, one of wich should be ready next year to fill out that side. On the right side we have nothing in the pipeline. We need to get someone who is sound defensivley to play in that spot.</div></div>

I share the frustration on Zacha. It’s a bad slump, but he has been streaky his whole career. Especially for a guy who is 6’3” 215 lbs who should at least use his size when his stick isn’t working. But my issue with wingers generally is that the market is always flush with them. And scoring is so much more than a wicked shot. If Miles Wood returns to form, Bratt, Sharangovich continue, Zacha picks up a bit, Holtz, Mercer, Foote Thompson develop, we will have options. Right now, as a team, we are creating the 10th most high-danger chances (as the youngest team). The goals will come.

As for our Def, I agree on top-4. I am not as sour on Ty Smith’s season…at least not defensively. Hard to tell offensively since he is used so differently. He was really bad in his first 10 games, was kind of up and down a bit, and I think he has been better recently.

Mukhamadullin and Hughes both play RD almost exclusively, so I am not worried about the L/R thing (devils had six LHD in 1995). Rielly Walsh and Case McCarthy are both solid prospects on right side as well. Walsh gets pinned as only an offensive d-man and that hasn’t really been the case in AHL. He has the highest Corsi % on team and really hasn’t been a liability defensively. McCarthy has been good too at BU. Could be good partner for Smith someday. Has had success playing with offensive LD’s Fensore, Farrance, York. And lastly, Bahl and Okhotiuk have both played some RD.

If we had average goaltending, our goal differential would be close to 0. Maybe it doesn’t put us in playoffs, but keeps us playing meaningful games.

I like the trades here.

Though I'd prefer not to send Clarke to Vancouver along with that top 40ova pick and Smith who's still got a ton of potential.
I think the value's there for Garland with those two pieces.

You're retaining on one too many guys here as well, maximum is three.
I'd suggest upping the retention on Tatar to 2.25m and removing retention on Zacha, as PK would likely have to be retained in having any chance in moving him at all.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>oilersfan150</b></div><div>Oilers reject imo thats a very high price to pay even with retention take out petrov and replace lavoie with a lower value asset and the oilers accept.</div></div>

Thing is that Tatar is retained not only this year but the next one as well, as such I think value in the trade is roughly fair.
I guess it could be made more palpable if EDM were to send Turris cap to NJD as well, if he's valued as a negative asset.
I like Lavoie but his projection has dropped of a fair bit in the last season. OP did put two winger prospects going back to NJD so it wouldn't be unreasonable to swap Petrov with Konovalov (G) or Samorukov (LHD) instead.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mikeg93</b></div><div>After watching the game last night and not seeing much Subban of late - he's really fallen off. Not noticeable, not worth the contract, and probably doesn't make the Leafs any better. Maybe he's more reliable right now than Liljegren but honestly, is he better than Holl and I'm not saying Holl is Cale Makar?</div></div>

I think PK'd be a slight improvement on Holl, and defensive depth for an extended cup run can't hurt.
I think the trade could be improved if TOR were to send Ritchie to NJD instead along with that pick as it clears more cap.
