While difficult to identify given his playing context, but Toews is exceptional in his role. Obviously he might not be so dominant with a weaker partner as he ages. The trade overall is quite fair though. I would imagine the issue is TOR wants a RD more than a LD.

Leafs
That Peeke deal is big time in CBJ's favor value wise, but I'm really curious if they'd even want it considering the state of the team rn. Jarnkrok is a bit redundant, but a good player. Bringing in Samsonov would be tricky though, cause Tarasov requires waivers and I highly doubt they'd risk losing him to bring Samsonov in. Unless they had a plan buyout/pay someone to take Elvis, or just flip Samsonov right after, this would complicate things even more in Columbus than the already clogged blue line that would lead them to move Peeke in the first place.
All that being said, it makes 0 sense for Toronto to do that, in combination with the other moves here, so kinda a mute point anyway.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jsteed02</b></div><div>Yeah it’s definitely problematic at 8 years. The good news is that the cap would likely be around 115M then, and it’s also not a 35+ contract so if he retires before then, the contract just goes away.</div></div>
Means there would be recapture penalty if deal is front loaded. This would be highly out-of-character acquisition for our GM.

Murray - sure, but no chance Brodie is bought out; that would be insane .

I still think Vitek has value so I'm OK either way.
Not many lining up for Helle who has value for sure. Maybe Buf, Edmonton Pit but not any longer, Car after this yr perhaps

To be quite honest, the Wirtz family aren't billionaires. They're just multi-100s millionaires. LOL. The family that owns the Chicago Cubs though are billionaires. :-P
**EDIT** I googled the Wirtz family. They're billionaires. I stand corrected and I left my original post to show that I admit that I was wrong

I guess Tampa doing the same didn't help them eh? Or Vegas? Or literally every top team that runs close to the cap. You really don't get the irony of your argument do you?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HughMann413</b></div><div>I'll post basically the same as what I posted to the last guy...yes, you are right, it's not THAT bad for Toronto. However, using your roster, you still have 3 roster spots to fill with not enough cap room to sign even 1 minimum salary player. Somehow the Leafs need to free up 2 - 3 million at minimum. They don't have a lot of options to do this and ideally 3 - 4 million to fill out the roster is needed. A big contract WILL be moved. Who? IDK. But Nylander, Brodie or possibly Mariner will most likely be their choices.</div></div>
I wonder how many years in a row it will take for you guys to come to grips with the fact that TO knows how to work around the cap as good as any other team and possibly better than anyone else. They had a 19 man roster for stretches last year and made it work. Someone will get hurt and miss time. It's not as bad as you hope and all the hope you have to "screw over the leafs" is all just that, hopes and dreams. Reality is far different.

Last year the Leafs and several other teams started the year with a 20 man roster. The Leafs will do the same thing this year. They don't need to move anyone outside of Murray.

The Nylander problem
I may be the only one who thinks this but I think Seattle says no. There's reason to make that trade. Why rush the "Rebuild" and trade your 19 year old center for someone whose in their prime. I understand Wright could end up not being as good as Nylander but the positional value and the contract they'd have to give to Nylander doesn't make it worth it in my eyes. Yes, if they make this move, their window is closer, but I also think it shortens it as Nylander is so much older. (Not a Seattle fan btw)

There just isn’t a nylander problem. The only ‘problem’ the leafs have this year is getting under the cap, and lots of time for that. And lots of time to work out a deal with Willy (& Matty); they both want to be here so it’ll all get worked out.

Grubauer has a no trade clause. I highly doubt he'd waive that to go to Philadelphia. If he's waiving a no trade clause it's to go to a contender and no contender is realistically going to take Grubauer. Seattle is either keeping him or buying him out. He's got too many years left to do a buy out, and he played pretty well in the playoffs, so Seattle will be starting Grubauer next year.

I'm not trying to promote trading Liljegren. I'm just as high on him as you are. I just used him in this case to test the value of Mittelstadt. I'm assuming Sabres fans would say no some how.

Guentzel is furthest thing from a need for the Kraken. Dunn (and signing him to an extension) is easily more valuable to Seattle than adding a scoring winger, even as good a one as Guentzel.
Might need to take a lower pick or retain some salary to open up options and move Wennberg.
I don't think that's the value Briere will need to move Hart. (?) I'm betting Seattle sees what they have in a Grubauer/Driedger tandem to start the season at least, so an addition there likely comes later . . . likely after some of the bigger names are moved.

Here's some feedback as requested. Hope this helps:
Dunn is easily the most valuable piece in that trade framework with Pittsburgh. PPG wingers like Guentzel aren't exactly a dime a dozen, but top pairing defensemen in their prime like Dunn are even rarer. The difference in age and contract status only adds to the discrepancy. The odds of Seattle trading Dunn are basically zero, since they won't realistically be able to replace him and what he brings in their lineup. I could see the Kraken exploring a deal for Guentzel, but that would likely involve one of their forwards and draft picks as a framework, not Dunn.
The trade value for Wennberg is fine in my opinion, however I don't really see him getting dealt unless Wright proves he's ready for the NHL or the Kraken find a 2C they like better than Wennberg.
I'm not a huge fan of trading huge packages for goalies, and Hart is no exception. Philly will probably want a premium piece or two for Hart anyway, and I don't think he's worth it for the Kraken.
Roster wise, Borgen is the second pairing RD over Fleury, and he gets more term and AAV on his next deal. I don't love the idea of offer-sheeting Lafreniere, the Kraken are already deep on the wings. They already have guys internally who could bring everything Lafreniere does and then some, and if they wanted to upgrade at forward they could find someone much better than Laf is right now with the same draft capital.

I've actually made a suggestion to CF MULTIPLE times to add the NHL shield as a trade option to indicate "any team", but just like other user suggestions, they completely ignored it. I think it would solve a lot of this....

Check recent playoff stats - Pesce / Skej were filled in. Both underwater in terms of xg%; Brodie had way better numbers particularly in xga. He is a much much better defender which is what we need.
