I don't know why I have to keep explaining this.</div></div>
Yeah because nothing piece Andreas Johnson whose not good, another bottom line Winger in Foote who Minnesota has plenty of and potentially 2024 1st round pick

A first in what is supposed to be a great draft class, a former 1st who is just about NHL ready and a mid 6 winger retained to help cap is a fair offer</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>kdp23</b></div><div>Yeah, I agree.
I think that’s a really good offer if the extension is included. Bertuzzi is the type of player I think Fitzy wants and we do lack. A guy who is hard to play against but also has skill. I’m personally on the fence but would probably pull the trigger on that move depending on the contract</div></div>
New Jersey is already a very good young and up and coming team, Adding Bertuzzi would even help them more for a playoffs. Bertuzzi was born for playoff hockey.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>kdp23</b></div><div>Yeah. That’s what I said in the description.
This is what the athletic said,” But, if Detroit wants to extend Bertuzzi instead, another avenue that could get New Jersey’s attention would be dangling last season’s No. 15 pick Sebastian Cossa. Such a move would be a shocker, given Cossa’s status as the goalie of the future in Detroit, with no real challenge”
Went on to say it would be a long shot though which I totally agree with.</div></div>
I didn't read the description my bad. But yeah Cossa is the last player other Seider that would get traded. Yzerman gave up too much for him. I didn't even like the trade at the time and still don't honestly.

Potential trade for #2 from The Athletic. Ran with it a bit but doubtful it would happen.</div></div>
The Athletic is becoming a joke, What i suggested Bertuzzi with an extension and the #8 oa pick for the 2nd oa pick is something i could see Yzerman possibly entertaining but that's about it.

Cold day in hell before Yzerman deals Sebastian Cossa, We might do Bertuzzi with an extension and the 8th overall pick for the 2nd overall pick. That's the best we would do.

For the Wild, I get what you mean with Tatar. He was an add for some depth scoring while their young studs like Boldy and Rossi are taking their next step. He's gone after next year and I ate some of Tatar's salary.</div></div>
I unfortunately think you’re right there lol. I like Bo a lot more than Crouse though
I think they need some kind of depth scoring, but honestly that may be a better spot for Bo since he can slot in as a Middle 6 center or winger for them at a cheaper rate

Might push to make it a conditional 2nd that could be a 1st this year instead, but with the retention it’s definitely in play

Next year
This is a great post. This is similar to what I would do. Some minor changes I have are that I think Nolan Foote is ready for the NHL. He's looked good in the NHL in his first few games. So switch him with Trav. Another change is to OS Foote. I like the idea of getting him, but we could get him for cheaper if we offersheet him. But overall, great job on this

I like the idea of a Foote/Johnson deal, but don’t think we give the 1st there.
I’m not sure I do 1st in that deal without Johnson.
Foote is good young d-man, but his appeal is mostly due to his perceived availability.
There are better young RHD we could acquire with that pick.

I neeeed Wright, Lambert, Savoie, or Miroshnichenko lol. Too much suffering over the past few years just to turn it around in a year with so many great players in the top 5

Ideally you could offersheet Cal Foote with an extra 500k-750k and avoid dealing with Johnson

Devils have had some lackluster defensive d-men in recent years.
So both of these guys have probably earned 2-3 year deals.
Hope devils trade one, keep the other.</div></div>
I hope they trade both & try to resign at least one ... but I wouldn't be against both returning on a team friendly short term (2 yr or less) deals. Not impossible in current financial climate.
Fair chance Butcher is in Seattle next season (or traded elsewhere), so having both these guys back would be a solid move imo.

He is without a doubt the more physical of the two.
Takes a penalty here and there, but rarely bad ones.
If Devils could re-up him for ~2 years, I'd be good with that.</div></div>
I'm 100% in the camp of ... absolutely (pleasantly) surprised by Kulikov's performance this season & would like to see him resigned ... maybe its a coaching thing or a fit thing, who knows ... but whatever it was, it just worked. NJ should try to bring Kulikov back & give the kid defensemen another year of seasoning in AHL/KHL/OHL etc as required.

They both wont put up massive point totals (though Murray of late has been putting up respectable numbers) but they both can move the puck.
What I like about Kulikov is that he adds that physical edge than none of the Devils defenseman have right now. He is good in his own zone and is physical but also isnt a liability skating with or without the puck.</div></div>
