what happens if suzuki gets hurt and goes down for any length of time,
Its real bad that situation, youve lost 2 of your 3 best centermen for nothing, and your best is hurt.
The center depth is just shades of 2011 leafs defense levels bad.

Its really not hard, no one wants to actually read the criticism though, and because its easier to get rid of d prospects than forward prospects</div></div>
Or for winnipeg say
Paul Stastny Andrew copp Cole perfetti and a 1st and 2nd
2 nhlers forwards a top prospect and picks.
Im just tryna get a gage here of what you would actually take

So say then Hypothetically the Toronto Maple leafs for instance gave up
Kerfoot Ritchie Robertson and a 1st and a 2nd. thats the criteria you just listed to the best of the ability
2NHLers the leafs Top Prospect who put up 55 goals and 86 points in 46 games with the petes a 1st and a 2nd
Ignoring the money cause of course the leafs have none. that is what you are asking for no?

Team Canada
two immediate things i think may work slightly better, move mack to 1st line right wing and bergy to third line center,
Mack and Crosby and Marchand is a near perfect line for offensive pressure with defensive upside,
and then the third line are 3 of the best defensive players on the planet. Match lines up perfectly if needed,
The other thing would be Barzal Mcdavid Marner, that line is all speed and high energy, would skate circles around other teams lines,
Drop either Tavares or Scheifele out of the lineup to make room.
and then the only point of concern is the 4 Defensively bad to meh defensmen there are, the entire right side d for instance is all about getting points, no real good shutdown pairing.
Like Pelech Makar is fantasy heaven, but im just not certain it would stop a line of Gaudreau-Matthews-Kane effectivly for 60 minutes.

That would be perfect for a retool plan. MTL would surely need to make a bit of capspace. Rentals like Chariot, Kulak, Lehkonen could be interesting for contending teams at the deadline.</div></div>
I really dont like what that does for next year, really ruins the teams ability to have any depth at all. As written above the money sucks by itself but then we go deeper into the actual trade itself
Eichels going for some form of NHL ready players who are young and 1st overall picks at least a subset of 4 of them
by the nature of going for it they dont have kk anymore the money needed will require 1 of the wingers to be traded as well, say drouin just to start
Its effectivly
KK
Drouin
2 player prospects
3 first round picks
anyone else who has to walk next year because of money
For eichel (who may not even be healthy for them)
**** i wouldnt go for Matthews or Kucherov or Mack for that cost (still might for mcdavid)

And yes, I've been saying that for years now, pretty much since we signed Drouin for 5.5 and Price for 10.5. Terrible contract signings by Berg tbh, he's great everywhere else but has a terrible time in negotiations imo</div></div>
Very true people do be kinda weird, i dont much hate the drouin contract as much as i hate the anderson contract, they make the same amount of money, but 1 is a player who can play on the first line and needs some mental support for whatever is happening on the other side of his life, ( which is fair considering what the players have gone through over the last 2 years.) The other is a very streaky bad penalty taking 2nd or 3rd line player.

Lehk is a free agent drouin has a M-NMC armia was just signed this year to a 4 year extention,
Byron could very well be a wild card. That certainly adds 3.4 million.
Which isnt really enough to make a competitive team with the other needed contracts. ya end up with about 7 million to sign like 7 players or 5 players and have some extras.
Its not something to be super worried about, but its certainly something to remember when thinking about matching the offer or trying to trade for eichel.

Wright/Bedard/Michkov/Dvorsky/Miroshnichenko are all up for grabs. Plus suzuki and caufield can be signed for less if we aren't contending anyways</div></div>
While i agree that you and i know, that you should not want eichel, i would direct you to the post made directly after mine lol.
Absolutly agree this is the year to tank if it was gonna be one, in this division in this conference, i just dont know about anything.
I dont think suzuki and caufield take that much less frankly maybe a million, but then its longer term and the team has some real bad long contracts, anderson Gally price not gonna age well 3 4 years from now. something like 21 million taken up by players that will not be worth it 3 years from now.

take like 5 minutes to make a montreal team in the ACGM for next year. 8 forwards 3 d and 2 goalies, with 12 million in cap.
they need to sign Paquette Perreault Lehk Evans Suzuki Chairot kulak Wideman and romanov. For their own RFAs and UFAs. They have nothing to sign a free agent.
If they dont give him up, they have 6 million to sign all those guys with.
Habs are screwed if they match the offer, they are also screwed if they let him walk.
Like straight up right now for next year the only centerman the team has signed is Cole Caufield.

hes got a NTC same with Gally and Drouin. They wont go unless they want to and adding eichal would make them not want to go. Hes just not worth it m8. at that point it becomes
Eichal for
3 firsts
a third
a forth
3 players directly who are either solid NHL players or a good prospect
1 player to make the money work who is a good player
and whoever walks in free agency.
Hes just not worth it m8. This team isnt winning right now not with boston florida and tampa around in the atlantic, the rangers pens and islanders in the metro. Hell even with eichel they are liable to just not make the playoffs.

i mean if suzuki continues on his path of success is worth at least 6, and if romanov plays even half as well as hes going to hes worth 3. thats 9 of cap right there, which winger are ya dumping? Toffoli and Hoffman are the only ones with both trade value and no NTCs. but they are also the teams 2 best goal scoring wingers with experience. Realistically getting eichal is gonna cost you those 5 picks 3 players and then whoever walks in free agency. Is he worth losing both your future and like 7 players? I dont think so.

Montreal has kinda dug themselves a hole with their expensive contracts right now, Weber Price anderson and Gally make up like 30 million in cap. And frankly they are not worth it to get to the playoffs Good in the playoffs (kinda gally and anderson were very meh). and they are signed for forever it feels like.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The_Cannon</b></div><div>Byron isn’t a bad player. He belongs in the nhl. Sadly the caphit he holds is between 2 and 3 times more than he’s worth. He’s a solid fourth liner. If I’m helping a team get out of cap space and I’m taking on an overpaid fourth liner I want significant compensation. We can all agree he’s worthless (in hockey terms as he passed through waivers last year and wasn’t claimed, I’m sure he’s a great guy). So there is already a silent agreement there’s compensation required to take him on. Before I would have agreeed. A third is solid for a player like Byron who is effective. But if MB is trying to get out of the cap hole he’s in with this offer sheet, He’s gonna have to start throwing a much bigger and better asset out to move Byron. He’s in a really tough spot.
That’s why last year Columbus lost both Murray and nutivarra for nothing. We were protecting against a Dubois offersheet. If he was offersheetrd and we didn’t move them, we’d have had to pay a really heavy price to move those guys. Both very solid bottom 4 defenseman. But overpaid. Cap is king right now.
I would also say that if someone is worried about their next job, and who they might be offending with how they conduct business, they will be short lived in this business. You gotta be able to negotiate without bringing feelings into this. Like at the trade deadline. Minutes to go there are guys that didn’t get moved. Because their gms didn’t want to move them at a reduced price. If they did and jumped then it lets everyone know that they can wait you out to get a better deal. Hold firm and have them meet your price.</div></div>
all very fair points that i dont disagree with, if it was a single 2nd i wouldnt really have given it another thought, hell even 2 3rds or a 3rd and a 4th. But to try and say Byron and 2 2nds is just gonna get the whole thing shut down before it begins. there are really good players that wouldnt get that in a trade and while cap is king i totally agree with that point, arizona gets to weaponize theirs better than before, if it was byron and a second and say a 5th, then they trade byron at the deadline with half retained if hes at all good this year, and they get something outta that its a better idea keeps future options open and gets you just as much draft capital. But asking for Byron and 2 2nds right out the gate is how you lose everything right out the gate.

I would. Anyone should. MB shouldn’t blame them either.
If any gm says “Why aren’t these guys helping me” they are not fit for the job
Not a shot at you just a counterpoint to your post. Cheers and enjoy the fireworks from the outside. We should just be happy Toronto isn’t about to burn down the city over an overpaid hometown kid and Columbus isn’t about to lose another star that doesn’t want to resign.
Lots to be thankful for lol.</div></div>
I absolutly agree that they should not try and help each other, but the concept that they actively try and hurt one another is kinda short sighted i think, these guys never know when they may be co workers or both in a situation where they have what the other needs, but 1 burned the other in the past so it doesnt happen leaves both worse, and its the GM that burned the others fault.
If it was Byron for nothing sure, but byron is not a bad player and to try and take 2 seconds and a good player for nothing, you will be laughed at and ignored, and then you are out all picks and players. its short sighted at best, disrespectful at worst.
