Realism
think i would rather keep willy than have travis and frost,
especially considering both kral and amirov are waiver exempt so you already kinda have a 23 man roster if you think those are gonna be the guys coming up.
cap should go up 1 mil as well so that opens up some additional avenues.
Throw Robertson on that top line next year
bunting on the second
gogolev on the third right side kampf center and a 1.5 million dollar left winger on the left
simmer semyonov spezza seems fine to me.
I think jack will take less probably closer to 4 million just kinda seems like the kinda guy he is.
I dont think you are wrong mind you, this is quite a realistic scenario to end up with.
Just my 2 cents on the whole situation.

i mean thats literally not what i wrote, but hey go off i guess.
just that the idea that a penalty killing winger whos large and puts up as many points as some of your top players, isnt worth that at all might seem a slight stretch.
A constructive comment could be that hes not worth that specifically but maybe instead X or Y.
But a high 80/90s pick and a high 120/s pick is probably worth for the habs to get a properly developed player who fits almost exactly what they are missing.
Bad PK
Forwards who dont produce
and need someone on the PP as an additional option
Not to mention hes like 6ft4 and only makes 1.25 million.
How many habs 3rd or 4th round picks have the habs properly developed over say the last 15 years?

not to be offensive or confrontational, but doesnt engvall have more points than like half of all habs forwards( i think only 3 have more), in a 3rd line shutdown role. averaging like 14 minutes a night.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Howisjulienstillhere</b></div><div>A leafs fan that gets it more than most habs fans
Sure you can partly blame ducharme
But the snipers aren’t sniping, the centres aren’t good enough offensively and the defence isn’t great at defending or moving the puck, at least in the playoffs they were good defensively
Suzuki and caufield have been **** which I believe is highly impacted by danault leaving, now having to face the top lines and d pairings
Love this team but yikes</div></div>
watch a lotta habs hockey with my dad so ive seen almost all their games so far this season, they are not even remotely on the level they were last year,
they dont look scary
they dont have the knowledge that on any given night carry price can bail them out of a losing effort
the forwards look scared at times.
its a team lacking an identity
i can tell because ive been a leafs fan for almost 15 years now, if you dont have an identity you dont have anything at all

Delusional Ducharme
not to be confrontational but i dont really agree that its the forward lines that are the problem, its more of a fundamental way the team is built.
The defense doesnt move the puck
the centers have a severe lack of nhl experience.
The centers cant win a face off
the dcore cant move the puck
and the scorers cant hit the bloody net.

honestly im not so sure its total garbage,
but i think in theory the leafs could get rielly at 7/7.5 million and not 8
spezza at 750 again
kase at 1,250,000 again
that opens up somewhere between 1.1 and 1.6 million in cap for a backup other than hutch, which could still be scott artur or woll.
I think they can get more for mrazek(probably closer to a 1st/2nd and 3rd)
and holl( probably a 2nd)
and even kerfoot frankly(some teams would pay either a player or a high pick of sorts)
But the signings are not awful, and the players lost are some of the more replaceable players

I mostly looked at games played as opposed to age and like mentioned his amount of playoff games, those are really what i was looking at in terms of veterancy, what else he brings isnt exactly a unique skill set.
I just dont look at Ritchie as anything else than a younger but less skilled wayne simmonds , or slightly more offensivly kurtis gabriel. (thats my fault that it is how i look at him but he just looks unimpressive to me)
And at 2.5 million which is a steep cost for that you could just have both simmer and gabriel play at the same time, hes not really fast, his hands are not exactly elite, i dont really see anyone really happy that we got him, and at 2,5 i would rather not have him, and have 3 healthy scratches, and have half a million in cap space at a base.
I can respect yalls opinions on the matter, i just dont know if i totally agree that hes worth the cost.

Toronto Forwards Tier List
I think brooks has far higher potential, he had a 130 point season in the WHL at one point, and then immediatly transitioned quite well into the AHL with a 40 point rookie season, then hes got 8 points in 19 games in the NHL, which is almost half a point per game as a 4th line player.

Could this team hoist cup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>xercuses</b></div><div>Saros kinda proved he could this past year imo i think they could win but you anything can happen</div></div>
Oh i certainly wouldnt count this team out at all,
But a bottom pairing with a combined games played of 40 makes me a little worried,
there are a couple other fringe things that make me worried about the bottom 6, which in turn makes me slightly worried about the top 6,
Saros has had a great start to his career thats for sure but ya can never know with goalies especially when they are young. Ned has had a much more rocky career so far, great last season but i dont think carolina got rid of him for no reason, they saw something that was gonna inhibit his game in some way and they made that decision.
The biggest issue i have with the team is injuries just completely screw it over
like if hedman or Carlsson goes down who in the hell is stepping up to fill those minutes.
If pasta goes down there is no one there to replace him.
Im a leafs fan so i can say this pretty heavily
Zach hyman needs either a great shooter or a great passer to do anything with the puck, offensivly hes a workhorse who will almost never lose a battle for a puck
but hes not great at actually scoring from anywhere but about 3 feet from the net, hes not gonna be able to replace what pasta brings.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kotkaniemi15</b></div><div>What teams have better top 2 centres? Edmonton and who? Maybe Pittsburgh or Toronto? They’re top 4 in the NHL at least.</div></div>
Honestly the following teams are slightly higher for me personally, edmonton toronto pittsburg tampa colorado winnipeg, (if petterson was signed vancouver).
I think barkov is really really good, but he isnt better than any of those teams top line centerman
and couturier is also solid, but he isnt better than drai, tavares, malkin, Point/stamkos/cirelli, Nate/Landeskog, Wheeler, and i dont think hes better than bo.
Most of those teams are always going for it too so those are this teams competition if they run into one of those teams i dont think they are stronger down the middle, now do i think their top 6 overall is better
Probably at least better than Toronto or Vancouver, the rest i think it would be a game to game thing.

next year
Ya know i dont actually hate this, i mean sure imma miss rielly, but this team i think is better has more cap space, still has the draft capital problem, but its not hard to sort that out.
Dermott Sandin and lillygren get another year to develop, i dont think you move holl down a spot but i can understand why you have,
honestly i really wish we just didnt sign ritchie, having that cap space at the deadline or to resign someone just feels like a better thing than him as a player. Might be one of dubas' very rare mistakes.

if and only if
I mean this team wins more games, and probably goes further in the playoffs frankly, but im not totally sure edmonton would be ever be willing to let him walk for anything other than 1 of the other top 4 players on the planet, if it was makar some 1sts and a high level prospect, or Mackinnon and similar
leafs would have to give up either matthews or marner,
tampa Kuch and point probably
hes worth more than any other player on the planet, and almost single handedly wins edmonton like 15-20 games a season, hes worth most teams entire bottom 6 and bottom 4 d men.
Literally he alone makes edmonton a team to watch out for. Probably not going anywhere till free agency,
and at that time he probably would go to either the best team available, or toronto cause its where hes from.

Honestly the top 6 might get beat out down the middle by some other teams, the bottom 2 d pairings have some slight concerns but nothing major, and the bottom 6 lacks a little strength,
Would it hoist the cup right now maybe, would it beat Either Tampa the last 2 years, or Pittsburg in 2016-2017 probably not, but its got some depth within the lines, but who else do ya got if 1 of these guys go down? Whos the next man up? Saros and Nedeljkovic are both pretty young they may not be able to properly handle the level they need to be at.

and if derms and sandin were hurt i wouldnt hate Teemu and Liljegren in on the 3rd pairing.
