are the kings selling pieces or going all in
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>WN88</b></div><div>Roy would objectively be the best trade target for the Leafs. I’ve thought about this idea before, but Kings fans are usually pretty insistent that he won’t be traded, even though he won’t be re-signed. So not sure.</div></div>
i know their tdl plans are kind of hinging on the severity of kempe’s injury rn, so if he ends up being out long term maybe they think about it? cuz realistically they could take these assets and get a guy like walker back in to fill the role for a second, or use the first and cap savings to go after a bigger target.
i’d love to see the leafs get roy and honestly think it’s possible, if a bit of a long shot. maybe flip this first for guentzel if kempe’s out 👀

My understanding of the Capitals situation
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logicalicesports</b></div><div>They are not giving him up for Dowd, they are getting a solid goaltender, one of the best shutdown centers in dowd, a solid prospect and a 1st.</div></div>
late first which doesn’t really help the avs in a weak draft class while they’re in win now mode, lindgren is playing well but they’re winning games with georgiev and probably only wanna upgrade on him if its for a bonafide stud like markstrom or saros, and dowd is a great bottom 6 centre but nowhere near worth byram. dowd probably gets back a 3rd at best
there’s just no reason for the avs to do this deal and any of their fans in here will likely agree

nah it’s def not tbh, avs aren’t giving up byram for dowd it would have to be a far better centre for them to consider moving him

Tanev and Walker
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMLBRIAN</b></div><div>Hopefully one could come with an extension. But I agree with you on Benoit and McCabe.
One injury to a dman and we would be better off with both Tanev and Walker. But the price needs to be reasonable.
The price in the AGM is reasonable for both players. Realistic? Time will tell but it is reasonable.</div></div>
walker reportedly wants 5m+ this summer, highly doubt the leafs do that deal. tanev will probably be somewhere in the 3.5-5m range as well and at his age with his injury history i think that's a dangerous investment.
i'd like to see the leafs improve their defence but looking around the league i just don't see a clear upgrade, and the leafs definitely shouldn't make a move just for the sake of making one. i have a funny feeling ristolainen was the plan until he got injured, now i have no idea what else the leafs could realistically do to get a clear upgrade on the d-core
i think the leafs just let this season play out and try again in the summer. probably hope they can get someone like skjei or roy in free agency and tinker around the edges, or maybe make a trade for a guy like marcus pettersson. i just don't see the market being worth it this tdl

true i just think it's a waste of assets to get both honestly, mccabe-benoit as a third pair is great as long as the top 4 is improved. not to mention walker and tanev would both be pure rentals

timmins is garbage tbh and is never healthy anyway, niemela could pan out to be something but is still 2 years away from the nhl minimum and is also an undersized and offence-focused defenseman which is basically the exact opposite of the d-men treliving wants to make up this roster long term
either way i dont think either of these trades are enough to get borgen or crouse

i guess it's good enough if you don't expect them to score literally ever, which with an aging tarasenko and stamkos who's 5v5 production has fallen off a cliff making up the second line, sounds like a pretty bad idea but alright

andersson

Late 1sts and decent prospects might get you a top 4 defender but it won't be a 1st pairing two way right shot RD on a great contract for 2 more years.. That'll take a least one high quality asset, an A+ prospect or a high 1st and unless it's a top 3 pick or an elite prospect it'll take more than just that.</div></div>
that's what i just said, the flames aren't looking to move him and so they won't lol. but my point was i highly doubt a better offer than that would be out there in the event they were. the devils don't need andersson and certainly wouldn't move nemec for him, and any team bad enough to have a top 10 pick wouldn't be looking to move it for andersson, he's a great defenseman but not nearly good enough to turn a basement-dweller into a cup contender on his own

yea no c'mon now lol, two firsts and cowan is a very fair offer. i get it if calgary just isn't interested in trading andersson whatsoever, but i don't know what team you think would offer a better package than that IF the flames were looking to move him

ur right tbh. like stutzle said in the summer the core in ottawa all took less so they could win, and clearly its working out great!
i'd rather play 11m for a guy that can get us in the playoffs every year than 8 for a guy who cant, but eh thats just me. i know sens fans always value their "best offseason" cup over actual wins in the season

Marner is two time 1st team all NHL, selke finalist, plays for the premier franchise in the league & who has out produced the other by 40% (massive difference in production) over their careers to date. Not even close but maybe you’ll prove something 😕</div></div>
basically the only things sens fans could earnestly argue tkachuk is better than marner at is toughness and goalscoring. but if you look at the stats marner and tkachuk are tied at 35 for their best goalscoring season, and tkachuk only has three more than marner this year (while having 22 less points lol). so they're basically even in goalscoring ability, while marner blows him out of the water in terms of defense, playmaking, and skating. sens fans can come in here and **** on the leafs but even with the current contract statuses the sens would accept this trade no questions asked. marner is and always will be a far superior player which is why he has never missed the playoffs and tkachuk has never made it
it would basically be the equivalent of trading patrick kane for jamie benn

i don't think the return is close to enough for jiricek tbh, even if you add another first on top its questionable considering they'd both be late ones. remember, it was kekalainen and vincent who seemingly didn't value him, not ownership, and he'll likely get another shot next year once they get a new gm. plus ownership said they aren't moving jenner (which personally i think is a stupid move tbh)
plus jiricek is currently a -10 in the ahl despite being nearly ppg lol. plugging him in on the top pair with rielly right away would be a dumb move and wouldn't help the leafs this year
