I don't get my 'Facts' from forum posts....I'm more logical than that.</strong>

1. Do you think Parayko is a top-5 NHL d-man because you read about it on HF Boards? (he's not)
2. Are these posters most likely St. Louis Blues fans (yes they are).
3. Did they also tell you Tanev is worth Nylander + prospects (probably).
4. Did they mention that Matthews will get paid more than McDavid (most likely).
5. Did they also mention he's no where near as good as McDavid (makes sense right).

You gotta smarter than this my man.</div></div>

I think he is a top 5 d man because he plays a great to way game and hits and blocks shots.

As for if these are Blues fans if you could read I said there are a mixture of blues fans, oiler fans and completely neutral fans.

Tanev is not worth nylander or even close to that obviously you can look and find ridiculous points of view (just like yours).

Matthews might get paid more than Mcdavid I have no clue. this does not mean Mathews is better it will depend on what cap is and what he and the leafs want to do.

Mcdavid is clearly a better player I never said he was not.

I have to be smarter than this really at least I stated some reasons why I think Parayko is that good you have done nothing but list names and refer to some of the most asinine posters points of view from another site.
I also was not claiming the forum posts were facts just stating that the majority of none Blues/ Oiler fans agreed that their value was close.

To be clear I also agreed with you about Johnsson being closer to 1 million as compared to 3.5 million.
Take advice from a Leafs fan. giving someone extra value (i.e rate someone a top 5 dman when they arent even in the top 15) simply because they hit and block shots is how you get stupid enough to sign Mike Komaserik to a 5 year 4.3 million per year deal.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>t2a2e9j12k2</b></div><div>quote=leafsfan96;529645]Dude, I am howling! You say to someone "Do you even watch hockey" and at the end of that statement you say Parayko is a top 5 dman in the league?? I'll name off dman better than Parayko right now and these are in no particular order.

Doughty, Hedman, Karlsson, Pietrangelo, Josi, Burns, Klingberg, Jones, Ghostibere, Provorov, Ekman Larsson, Ekblad, Ellis, Hamilton, Suter, Dumba.

Take your takes somewhere else man before you spit nonsense like that.</div></div>

spit your nonsense else where kid. half of those defencemen are not even close to having the value of Parayko or ability to play two way hockey like him let alone hit, blockshots. i will give you Doughty, Hedman, Karlsson, Pietrangelo, and its very close with hedman and pietrangelo. You take contract, age, injury history, and defensive ability then even karlson could be in question. Burns is all offense and when he is not scoring he is an overpaid beard. Ekblad and Suter are both great players both have injury histories get paid more while one is young and will get better the other is older and will only get worse. Josi is very close not as physical as him. Klingberg is better on offense but lacks the defensive ability and its not even close. Jones, Ghostibere, Provorov, are great up and coming d-men not close to him yet. Ekman Larsson is hard to judge he is always on garbage teams that affect his game. He doesn't play defense or hit as well as Parayko. Ellis just not as good and Hamilton is good on offense solid d but he keeps getting traded for lesser pieces something wrong there. While Dumba is good he is the 3rd best on his team (sutter and Spurgeon).

Maybe top 5 is a small stretch but doesn't change the fact that he has a ton more value than offered. There is another site where the proposed trade was Parayko for Leon Draisaitl. Oilers fans all said no but blues fans also said no and most neutral fans said value was very close.
Buddy, you can go cry on hf boards about hypothetical trades all you want. Bottom line you just tried to say that a guy who hasnt cracked the 10 goal or 40 point mark is a top 5 nhl dman. Give your head a shake. I made that trade because it satisfies both teams needs quite significantly. Sorry it didn't please your clearly biased opinion on Blue's players.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>leafsfan96</b></div><div>The only way I see Nylander getting more than Pastrnak is because of "% of the Cap" strategy. However, it won't be because Nylander "can" play center because he has been tried out at center and has not really succeeded that much. You have to look at it from the teams perspective, you can't pay a guy like Nylander 7+ million based off his production on the wing (beside your best C in 34) and then say after you sign the deal "Well we think he's going to be a center for us down the road so thats why he deserved a little bit more." I am sick and tired with the "he can play center argument" because yes centers are valuable but Mitch Marner is a better player than Nylander so I don't think Nylander deserves more because he "can play center". He's put up two 60 point seasons on the wing, and we have probably the best 1,2,3 punch at center already in the league; Nylander should get payed as a winger because I think he is a winger. If sometime down the road you have to trade/or let a guy like Kadri walk to FA for cap space and you need a 3rd line centre (just a hypothetical, don't freak out), thats still 3-4 years down the road. And at that point I don't think having Nylander play 3rd line minutes at centre is even at all as a effective as having him on Matthews wing, better off just finding a new center through by the draft or FA.

Onto Johnsson, he's played 15 games. Just settle the horses man.</div></div>

Confirmed today Johnsson signed 1 year, 2-way deal for 787,500. Just shy of the 3.5 million he was supposed to get.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>OMFG are you another leafs fan who thinks that you can get faulk for a puck and a KFC coupon. Nylander's contract will be more then Pastrnaks because Nylander doesn't have players that are as well established as Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron feeding him the puck. He has Zack Hymann, who has many talents but point producing isn't one of them... yet. Matthews yes but he was injured half the seasons so Nylander will get more then Pastrnak who got 6.667. The fact Nylander can play C adds more money onto that deal. Nylander should get around 7.5 mil.

Johnsson has turned 2 major leagues to shreads. In the NHL he was impressive too. On the 4th line put up 5 points inn 15 games. Johnsson earns minimum 2.5 and I think 3.5 is fair. I'm surprised no one has punched you for being so offensive either!!!</div></div>

If I could justify, I'll admit maybe the Parayko trade doesn't go through, but to counteract some of your thoughts.
1. I viewed a swap of Nielsen for Walman as a thought that there are two players that haven't cracked an NHL lineup yet in either organization and could be looking for a change of scenery. They are similar age, but IMO play very different games. Nielsen is more of an offensive guy and Walman has not quite shown that at the AHL level yet. STL does not look like its getting much offense from its Left side of the d-core. Edmundson and Bouwmester are good two-way guys but lack that offensive flare. I am a fan of Dunn but call it bias if you want or not but Nielsen is dangerous with the puck and has that ability to put points up in the NHL (great shot on the point and has a decent meanness to his game) and I think Nielsen could be effective on a 3rd pair in STL which is where he would fit nicely if father time catches up to Bouwmester, you can run Edmundson-Pietrangelo, Dunn-Bortuzzo, Nielsen-Schmaltz.
2. I realized after all that typing on point 1 I would also be giving you a proven scorer at the NHL level in a top 4 role in Jake Gardiner. Now I am the first person to say Jake Gardiner does not come without frustration as a fan because of his shear inability to play without the puck. But with a d-core in STL that is much better defensively than TOR, I guarentee you'd get the best of Jake instead of what Leafs fans rag on him for. I truly believe his defensive defencies are magnified in TOR because the supporting cast around him isn't good enough defensively to counteract his inability to play defense.
3. Garret Sparks is an AHL goaltender of the year and reigning Calder Cup winner. He would give STL a solid #2 option in goal behind Allen and lets be honest, he has not been very consistent and after losing Hutton, you could definitely use a capable back-up to take on the workload when Allen falters which he has the last two seasons.
4. I gave STL a first and a 2nd round pick also.
