No GM especially Kyle Dubas is as dumb as Peter Chiarelli to trade a highly skilled winger for a defensive defenceman on term. If that's what Carolina is hoping for I don't think they're getting it. Also doesn't help when the owner comes out publicly and states how little he values defence and how highly he values goals.

If Pesce finds a way to double his offensive production to 40-45pts then you can start talking Nylander +

As a career 20pt d-man (and he's never produced higher than that even in collegiate hockey), the value comes down. He's a terrific defensive d-man, I'd love to have him on the Leafs. But if Waddell wants Nylander + it's never going to happen without a huge surge in the offensive numbers
