He'd obvioulsy cost more but I highly doubt Vegas considers trading him because of his role

What we should do
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_92</b></div><div>I can’t see Vegas moving their only right handed shot on defence in Whitecloud. He’s on a good contract so he’s worth keeping.
First guy I could see moved is Nic Roy - real good player but paying $3M for a guy that’s playing 4th line isn’t ideal when your cap strapped. Other guy I could see moved is Nic Hague. Hanifin, Pietrangelo, and Theodore will log the major minutes and Hague will be due for a raise soon so it’s beta to capitalize on his value now while he’s still on a cheap contract</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OwnGoal</b></div><div>I would assume Ottawa considers this. I would be interested in Roy for Ottawa aswell if you think he would be made available too.</div></div>
Roy is literally having a breakout year and he's on a good contract, why would they trade him? Whitecloud is having a very poor season and Vegas needs to clear room on the back end

Ottawa fans and their little world. A bunch of you guys really think Vegas will give Roy or Whitecloud for future assets?

Roy will be more crucial than ever. He carries a low cap hit and can have good production, as this season has shown. If anyone (in trade) will be a cap casualty, it will be Howden

Offseason trade idea
Vegas will let players walk, like Stephenson, Carrier, Amadio, Martinez. We hav enough cap space for Roy and Wild Bill and there's no way we are trading them for futures

How will we manage
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NMAvsFan</b></div><div>Ah, the fantasyland fans live in where their significant players take a lot less money and/or term to stay with their team rather than pursuing the riches of UFA. Occasionally that happens but, more often than not, it does not. Don't worry, we all go through it but reality is a killer.</div></div>
Hanifin, as already stated by someone else, is rumoured to be around 7M. And looking at the cap space in this scenario, he can honestly get 7M. Term though is something debatable. Marchessault on the other hand, is VGK in and out and him and Vegas will likely be able to sort something out that benefits both parties. VGK will have the upper hand against Amadio as they literally carved his career into something

Vegas isn't trading Paul Cotter for a regressing winger. We like Reilly Smith but no more than a 3rd and a later RD pick for him

Hard pass for Vegas. We already have one of the best D-cores in the league and as of now, its fully healthy. We are in the market for a forward, a winger

Vegas easy pass. We love Smith but Korczak is too much to give. Realitically you are looking at a 3rd and a later round pick for smith

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Gardoki</b></div><div>More than fair. I wouldn't be shocked though if VGK now becomes a front-runner for Guentzel. You could realistically trade for both.</div></div>
agreed but I don't really think Guentzel is the best idea for the future. He'll cost some premium assets and we won't be able to resign him past this season. I think for a rental, Buchnevich would be better

FIRE SALE
Vegas is NOT giving up Dorfeyev for Smith. Smith has regressed since last season when Vegas sold him for a 3rd so its unlikely the Pens get anything higher than a 2nd, from any team for him. Realistically though a 3rd and maybe another draft pick will be likely

Continuing the retool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Leafs have goaltending problems this year, but might be OK now. But I'll never understand why folks are so enamoured with Flames Dmen (and Leafs Dmen are so awful). The Flames have given up five fewer goals this season. Weager and Andersson probably the top two best Flame Dman. Hanifan and Tanev second pair Dmen. Surely the records show they aren't difference makers.</div></div>
Leafs have had goaltending problems for 4 of the last 5 seasons. Hanifin has been a reliable d-man for 3 seasons in a row now. Notice a pattern?

Leafs have no interest in that trade. Giving up two RHD, a first, for an unneeded LHD rental</div></div>
I mean truth is Toronto lacks a proper two-way guy. There main issue is goaltending and defense so don't you think this trade addresses some of those issues? Its also entirely possible Hanifin stays
