That is what Bystedt did for his D+2, but I think Edstrom might have the more pro-ready game. Lower ceiling, but higher floor. It wouldn't surprise me to see them as the 2C/3C on the Barracuda this year.</div></div>
I could see that, and to clarify there has been no news surrounding edstrom either way. I think he is gonna be back in Sweden, he had a good SHL playoffs but there is no need to rush him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>matthias893</b></div><div>Sure, just a stand in really. Perri pick calculator put 3 years of 3.6m hit at an 18 OA pick value, and I figure NYR 25 1st will be lower than that. It doesn't matter though, it's more about the idea of a Goodrow dump being beneficial to SJ in a few ways beyond just the return.</div></div>
The buyout will be more beneficial to NYR. If the dump is cheaper then that could be done

Sturm has had a disappointing season.
You give up a 3rd rd
But you also gain a 2nd rd
Then you get Andreas who is a speedster and can help the top 6 with his presence. He's got skills and would be good addition for the rebuild.</div></div>
Sturm is one of better guys in the dot this season in the league. He’s also significantly cheaper and a center. You can have Addison if you want but not Sturm and Addison and a pick to take on over two mil

Rumour Per Pagnotta
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>matthias893</b></div><div>For what its worth, The Athletic put out an article today looking at Treliving's previous deadline tendencies. They came to the conclusion he was more inclined to target players with term than rentals. So not impossible he goes for a rental, but might look first for longer term solutions. I'm not claiming to know whether these Sharks players fit the bill, it was just something I found interesting.</div></div>
Ferrarro's got two more years at $3.25M, a pretty good bargain for a clear top 4 kinda guy.
I think the bigger hurdle here is the Sharks using their last retention slot on Luke Kunin when they have more attractive pending UFAs available to use that slot on.

Next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>matthias893</b></div><div>I find this fairly confusing. Bjorkstrand is a fine player but he's 28, only has 2 years of team control (5.4m not cheap either) and we'd be giving up two premium assets for him. Maybe we're competitive in the final year of his contract, but that's a big maybe.
Zuccarello is 36 with 2 years on an extension that also isn't cheap. He's a very good player but this is a trade that moves us away from being competitive in the long run. If he was a UFA I'd say hell yeah sign him, otherwise I'd rather keep Ozzy and a 33-34 OA pick.</div></div>
It’s to bring in 2 legit top 6 wings to play with Eklund, which should help bring his game to another level. Increased depth also allows Couture to move to wing. That’s a pretty good top 9 forward group. If Bjorkstrand and Zuc don’t work out you can flip them to re coup some of the assets.

Sharks only have one retention slot. They won't use that to be a 3rd party retention team just for a 4th

cup run
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>fil97</b></div><div>poj is a very good player. he can't be in pit line up because he is an offensive Dman and we already have EK and KL. but he'd instantly play in a top 4 role imo with the sharks.
plus he still has room for improvement in his game just because of consistency of play.
and also don't add the 5th if you think it's too much, if Dubas wants AD he'll just make it happen.
considering he fleeced the sharks once don't find it hard to believe he can do it again.</div></div>
The idea is that the Sharks are likely gonna want picks and/or young prospects for Duclair. POJ will be at least 27-28 by the time the Sharks are trying to not suck. Just doesn't make a ton of sense. That 2024 2nd, on the other hand, does.
Also nothing against POJ but a ham sandwich would instantly play a top 4 role on SJ's blue line lol.
And make no mistake - in reality Mike Grier will probably trade duclair for a bag of pucks. On capfriendly we (foolishly) like to pretend like Sharks management isn't fresh out of the psych ward.

Vlasic for Armia
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>matthias893</b></div><div>Sharks don't need cap relief by trading Vlasic. We have like 34m in space next year even with him on the books and a buyout this summer or next would save more space than this deal would when you take into account Armia coming back.
Joel Armia probably isn't going to be a apart of the Sharks future anymore than Vlasic is really going to be a part of Montreal's long term future. This deal doesn't really do anything for SJ so we'd essentially be tying up a retention slot for 3 years for nothing. Even talking conservatively that slot could be used to bring back 2 or 3 picks over that time, which would be better for us than Armia.</div></div>
This proposed trade is a good idea in theory but matthias hit the nail on the head here.

He's been their best winger consistently this season. He's exactly what you want in you're middle six/second line. Again, you sell them off for futures, you'll be lucky to get equivalent talent.
He's absolutely a piece for the future.

Why should there be concern, its not post college/ late nhl season. I'd rather Smith focus on his play in college and development then worry about signing with a team that wouldn't put him in a better place.
Both are owned till 2027. No need to worry for zero reason.

Pitt doesn't want Lindblom. He's struggling in the AHL. And SJ keeps that retention slot for a player that could actually get them some value back.
