If Buffalo wants Larkin then a conversations starts with Cozens and then some not Mittelstadt.</div></div>
by the time their draft picks from this season and next season pan out Larkin will be 28! lmao

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DiehardRedWingsFan58</b></div><div>Who the hell is Craig Rivet? Detroit's not trading their future Captain unless it's massive over-payment and this isn't massive over-payment nor does it move the needle. First off the Buffalo 2020 1st round pick would be lottery protected top 3 so anything less and we're not interested. Any deal for Larkin starts with Cozens+Ristolainen+Buffalo's 2020 1st round pick #7 overall non-protected and then some.</div></div>
first off if you are a hockey fan you should know who Craig Rivet is. Retired player who now hosts a Sabres radio show, there is NO protection on this 1st round pick. Obviously if the Sabres were to win the lottery this trade most likely doesnt go through. Mittlestat was an 8th overall pick and is only 21 yrs old with huge upside. his development was botched by the Sabres basically bringing him from High school to the NHL. Johnson was a 1st round pick last season and is a very highly ranked defense prospect. so in addition to thos players Detroit gets a top 10 pick in this years draft and a 2nd round pick most likely still in the top 40 picks in the draft. nobody is saying this is realistic, just a convo!

We already told you that any deal for Larkin starts with at least Dylan Cozens and then add accordingly. Mittelstadt sucks and isn't anywhere close to value for Larkin.</div></div>
If you listen to the reasoning behind it, it makes some sense! by the time Detroit is relevant again Larkin will be in the later stages of his career! If they were to trade him now for good young assets, All of their young prospects grow at the same pace and would all be similar in ages so they could sustain a good team for years to come.

If you read my description you would know that this was discussed on the radio this morning by Craig Rivet. Mittlestat is only 1 piece here, Detroint is getting a potetial top 5 pick in this years draft, a high second round and 2 1st round prospects in this deal. i dont think it is all that far off to be honest!

That's why this trade was proposed with 3 pieces going to FLA. I think the teams could massage the deal to make it work however, trading within the division probably wont happen

reinhart deadline 3 team trade nsh and pit
My god this is awful! If Reinhart is on the trade block, which hes most likely not, you would need to yield a legit 2C with term or no deal! Not more picks! That's what is wrong with this organization! We trade good pieces for picks over and over again hoping that next years draft is deep! Been down this road too many times!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Well, I hope for your sake you can salvage something from this move.
I find the Buffalo situation this year fascinating. I think that Botterill has a chance to really "ladder" some draft choices by trading away guys like Miller, Sheary, Vesey, Girgensons, Bogosian, etc. Say he gets a fourth each for Sheary and Vesey and a fifth for Girgensons (a survey I've done of the last 125 Sabres posts gives those average values for them, each one being traded at least a dozen times). Botterill can probably then trade a fourth and a fifth for a third twice.</div></div>
I see what you are saying here, but that puts us into the realm of "rebuilding"! This team has been rebuilding since '07 he needs to start building and stop tearing it down year after year! By time the draft picks pan out Eichel and Dahlin will be retiring! Lol

Miller is a healthy scratch most nights. I think he is not the player that Botts thought he was! Maybe Pitt adds a pick to that deal but at this point I dont think Miller has much value

His value is not very high. He is playing 4th line minutes. Maybe a 4th or an additional later round pick but they are not going to get a ton for him. He has a big contract and isnt producing for them.

He wont trade Risto for picks and/or prospects. Here lies the issue. Nobody has ponyed up enough for him to pull the trigger. Bogo is supposedly going to be ready to go by the opener, but if LTIR is an option he wont be out all season like Hunwick. He will eventually return. Best option is "hopefully" he is healthy enough to play and increases his value before the trade deadline and move him for picks. I dont think Risto is getting traded! Should he be? ABSOLUTELY! But I think they value him too high and definitely do not want another ROR situation to emerge!

With the amount of NHL ready RHD we have on this team, unfortunately he most likely will unless there is a trade or 2. Which also looks unlikely now that the cap issue is resolved with Hunwick on LTIR. I dont think he will trade anyone just for the sake of trading. Once RFAs are signed there may be some options, also with injuries in training camps could open up trade options but otherwise not looking good this late in the summer. ??
