It rocks how Mantha goes to Vegas for a 2nd/4th at 50% retained. If I punched in that trade for the Leafs in ACGM I would be told by the usual suspects it's a 1st minimum.
Anyways looking forward to Brad Trepizza blowing the 1st/3rd on Henrique.

(VGK/WSH) - 2024 2nd (VGK), 2026 4th (VGK) for Mantha
Yeah no, Washington got taken for a ride here. Mantha's the second best winger available at the deadline and they retained on his major contract, that should've been a 1st.

Season trophies
Hart should be between Kucherov and Matthews.
Speaking of Matthews, he should absolutely be in the conversation for the Byng. Only 4 PIM on the season.
If you want a sleeper Selke pick, Reinhart's having a career season and 27th in SH TOI.

im not shocked rempe didn't get anything for that hit on lyubushkin yesterday.
guess we'll have to wait until the next time rempe does something extremely reckless for the league to maybe do something about it. this ogre shouldn't be in the nhl.

Guess you're not like most fans since you know who the Leafs drafted in the latter rounds. Sorry you accidentally had to educate yourself.
You're missing the point of why this isn't a good trade - a 3rd for a roster player is completely fine and happens all time, because by the 3rd round the draft is more or less a lottery and teams are picking off their internal lists and scouting rather than some projected tiered chart. The problem with this trade is that Lyubushkin is barely a 7th D on Toronto - everyone who played tonight besides Lagesson should be slotted in ahead of him, and Timmins is arguely a more useful player than he is. A player whose worth a 4th at best is not worth retaining on twice, Toronto essentially gave up two assets which might be useful for someone who doesn't push anyone else out of the lineup. The Leafs could've absolutely gotten a better player for a similar return.

If you know who Topi Niemela is, you know a player the Leafs drafted with a 3rd.

For me it's the optics of it. The difference between a 3rd and a 4th is about 32 prospects and that could mean not landing a guy you had on your list.
Also means you can't do this kind of trade next year, where you're able to shore up depth by getting someone with a 3rd. Just not a fan of this.

Lyubushkin is worth a 4th at best, and a 6th to retain less than a million for a fourth of a season is genuinely bad business. Really glad Brad Trepizza waited until it was absolutely dire to get a RHD, real good optics from him.
I don't believe this is the only deal Toronto is going to make this coming week but my god this is a horrible sign of things to come.

Most underrated players in todays NHL
Ton of these guys aren't underrated. First LW you have Laine, a guy who makes close to 9 million mostly based on his reputation rather than his performance. Wouldn't call that underrated.
Bratt, Tarasenko, Pietrangelo, Toews, Carlo and Varlamov all get decent acclaim.
