Dream Moves for Next Season TDL Draft 2024
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>I'm sure they'll end up trading him, but it won't be for a guy they can't use.
I think the Kings would consider a Kaliyev for Lindgren swap as they need a cheap and reliable goaltender that is under contract for next season.</div></div>
I think Lindgren has higher value than Kaliyev at this time. Not saying LA couldnt use him, but Lindgren is playing well and in the lineup often and Kaliyev is eating Crypto.com Arena nachos. Which are (as arena nachos go) really high quality nachos. But he's not quite had the impact on the ice that Chuck has...therefore their respective values are not near each other at this moment.

Dream Moves for Next Season TDL Draft 2024
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>Kings decline. Return player not useful.</div></div>
So the Kings are not using Kaliyev at all, and would not want an AHL project defenseman and a draft pick...? What is not useful about a body that might grow into an NHL player for a guy sitting in the pressbox night after night?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MW6</b></div><div>I think CMM has taken big steps this year, but he’s IMO several levels below Zegras and Caps desperately needs a playmaking C which CMM isn’t. They’re two months apart age wise and they have Strome and Lapierre to center the top-9.
Frankly, Wilson touted to be the next Captain (in 2,5 years) should not be an obstacle to get this done. He’s in his prime now and should be competing for Cups, that won’t happen with Caps for at least 3-4 years.</div></div>
Wilson does not want to leave DC. He is rooted in DC, loves DC, having a family now, not playing reckless hockey, and I dont think he has any inclination to go anywhere. He also has to carry the glue guy torch when Oshie LTIRetires from injuries (next year)

Jensen should get moved if they can cut bait on the contract term / $

No way the Caps cut bait on McMichael. Not even for the Zegras show. Wilson is the next team captain, no way he moves. I agree Patches and AA should/will be gone as of tomorrow. And Kaliyev is a good target project similar in upside to Sandin that GMBM seems interested in.

Caps chances of dealing Strome (aka the one bright spot on the entire team) is ZERO. Or less than ZERO if at all possible. And the wont deal both TvR and Jensen. I agree one, or the other but not both.

Fair assessment. Though I think someone takes a low-risk flyer on AA. Return would be 4th rounder or similar prospect with low-risk.

Stockpile Draft Picks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logicalicesports</b></div><div>I think Frank could make a case to come up but the others need more development time. We cant rush them into the league and risk stunting their development.
I think it Miro is close to being able to come up but I really felt he needed a full season in the AHL this year. I would like to see Stevenson come up aswell.
I feel he should be targeted young talent no matter what here, don't rush the young guys too much</div></div>
So Kaliyev is high on his list I guess...could be a buy low and get some work outta him like Milano.

He also said that if the "high ceiling, low cost" guys arent available that getting rid of contracts will "open the door to other prospects." I take that as full time spots for Miro, Iorio, maybe even Frank, or bring in Cristall...

Rounding Edmonton Out
Unless you're buying out / terminating Kuzy, and assuming Backstrom formally retires....I do not see the Caps taking on any net added contracts. All sales will be for picks and completely expiring deals. I dont see GMBM wanting to be close to the 50 active contracts ceiling.

Why are you not selling Max Pax? He's a warm body that isnt sticking in DC and can yield a pick
One of TvR or Jensen need to go as well
Not enough selling on this AGM in my opinion.

Nic Dowd and Edmundson
Caps wont want to take on contracts or bodies...the picks will be fine. I hope they keep Dowd, but if he's not long for DC a late 1st or early 2nd rounder will be the yield. Caps will be lucky to get a 4th for Edmundson, he's fallen to a 7th D on most rosters.

SELL SELL SELL...! Please this team can tank with these guys or get some kind of draft picks...
1) Anyone not named Ovechkin, Oshie, or Dowd should be available.
2) Do not take contracts back, only picks and prospects on two-way deals.
3) Play all the young guys (and Ovi) the next two seasons.

Leafs make an attempt
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PantsOffnJacket</b></div><div>Okay fair enough.
But I would think your counter offer is lesser value then?
I had Brodie here with the idea caps would flip him for a pick at deadline.</div></div>
I think Lapierre at 21y old and with his upside would be very enticing to TOR and a PP capable RD in Carlson for long term, a 7th guy and LD/RD capable grinder in Edmundson (expiring).
So --- Carlson (Kampf + middle 1st rd), Edmundson (lets call it a 4th rd), Lapierre (3rd + Conditions) -- is that a little more balanced?
