Setting up for retoolfree agency at the Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Victor24</b></div><div>So the first two trades are about gaining resources for the future and the last trade is trading away resources for a rental and a defenseman who plays defense about as well as a block of wood?
Are you rebuilding or going all in?</div></div>
I just didn't feel the roster was complete so I made the last trade. I do agree. I was between that trade or a trade to bring Fleury back. I should have stopped at the 2 trades which landed us the picks prospects and cap space.

I disagree. If he was signing an 8 year deal for 7million he would have been resigned by now. His rumored asking is 9-10.5million/yr

BIG IF Penguins trade Jake Guentzel
I think VGK, Vancouver, Seattle, Colorado, and Winnipeg. I know NYI are rumored to be in the mix as well, but I doubt they trade him in the same division.

BIG IF Penguins trade Jake Guentzel
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>westleysnipez</b></div><div>No way. The Penguins aren't going to get more than that, Vancouver isn't going to offer this.
Guentzel is worth a 1st + prospect/early pick.
DeBrincat is one comparable and he only went for a 1st + 2nd + 3rd / 1st + two young roster players while being several years younger and RFA; Fiala as an RFA went for a 1st + blue-chip prospect as a Top-30 scorer. Horvat earned a 1st + blue-chip prospect + 5th as a UFA rental and had more goals and points than Guentzel did, plus being a center.</div></div>
You realize the price was leaked on what it would take the Pens to trade Guentzel right? It's a 1st, a good prospect, and a roster player. The Pens don't need to trade him. Their 1st line with Crosby and Guentzel is one of the best in the league at 5 on 5 play .

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>2.5 mill is a significant price gap. You’re saying he’s overpaid by 12 million over the life of his deal? That’s a lot</div></div>
Not with the cap starting to go up. In a few offseasons 4.5 will be the new 2.5 million. I agree with Hockeyfan though. People were hard on him because they all had higher expectations. He is starting to settle in now that he has less pressure on him (it's similar to the Matheson situation in Pittsburgh). Dubas won't give up 1st round picks to dump salary. He did in the past, but he doesn't have the prospect pool in Pittsburgh to do so.

Outside of the NJ trade (which probably wouldn't happen). The other trades are just terrible. Karlsson would go for more especially if retained. Rakell is going no where he is playing great and boosts any line he plays for. They arent trading Carter to Toronto nor the other garbage Pittsburgh has let alone for Marner, and the Carolina trade just won't happen. Good thoughts for some good video game trades though.

100% would do that deal for the Pens.
Question, I know a lot of people probably ask, but what would the ask be for Anderson in a trade? I know his numbers aren't great, but he does more than his numbers show. Or even Gallagher w/ Half retained how much do you think it would take for one of those deals to happen?

We probably give him another contract after this one if he keeps this up, teams don’t just toss away their leading goal scorers man</div></div>
I think you would keep him for that offer. Penguins aren't giving up their top Prospect and a 1st. Maybe someone else, but Yager has the potential to be a top line winger in the next few seasons and played well for the Penguins in camp.

Pittsburgh Declines. We do not want Sheary back, plus it is going to take a lot to get Guentzel from Pittsburgh especially with them being a potential hybrid seller/buyer at the deadline (if they were to ship off Guentzel).

Canucks playoff run
Penguins decline. The head coach disliked Ian Cole so highly doubt he would be coming back, plus he is way to old. Just a terrible offer for Jake and we are not giving up our top goalie as well in a trade for a bunch of spare parts.. Pens don't have to move Jake so it will probably take a big offer especially with a potential bidding war.

Deadline

I was thinking Pittsburgh needs a big shake up outside of their first line they have struggled a bit. Things aren't clicking on the 2nd line. I feel as though Kuzmenko could find life with Malkin. Crosby has clicked with multiple players while Guentzel was out previously. So I think finding a replacement for Guentzel and a change from Smith on the 2nd is needed. I was trying to fill all voids while trying to make the trades reasonable. Thank you for the feedback :)

I rather have Penguins wait until Free Agency to see what Jake Guentzel’s decision, and besides it’s a rumour.
It not like Patrick knocked on Kyle’s door and ask about a trade, which won’t happen in my opinion.</div></div>
I am thinking Guentzel will price himself out of Pittsburgh, so why not try to get something for him and these trades help get scoring for all 3 lines and add an additional LD to potentially work with Letang or Karlsson

I don't think Hex would give up a first or prospects. I could see him to land players using Rodrigues, ZAR, Kap, Zucker, and Pettersson. All players do have some value around the league.

I think he spelled Tkachuk wrong. He would be the only one I believe Pittsburgh picks up the phone and entertains a Rust trade for (unless we are talking right before free agency for his rights of course).

Pittsburgh has also come out and stated they are not going to be shipping off futures and top picks. So I doubt they trade their first as well. With all that being said. I do believe Pittsburgh ships out Zucker and they work to upgrade their D.

All 3 trades I doubt happen. I think a Kessel trade to Edm would focus around Nurse or someone better coming back. Malkin would not be traded within the division and I doubt he is moved this offseason. Zucker for JJ is not fair value. Also how does this roster make Penguins better than this past year?

I would have to disagree. I think Kessel is worried about not only contending, but also who could feed him the puck. I think Edmonton is an interesting option, but I think more would be coming back.
