Re-tool next season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Well, your inexperience is showing here. The fact that you "don't think" something doesn't mean that I'm "way off there"; in fact, there's no factual connection between the two. One of the reasons why the Penguins have one of the worst prospect pools in the League is due in part to the fact that they had 1 selection in the first 4 rounds 2 years ago (and also only one pick in the first four rounds in 2019, which they spent on Sam Poulin). And quantity of selections in a particular draft year is ALWAYS considered in making trades.</div></div>
If a team likes the return in a trade, they're going to trade their second regardless if they have a first. It seems your argument is more that the Kings don't accept this offer because they don't like the return and not that they don't have a first round selection. I don't disagree that they may not like this return, but your logic behind the emphasis on quantity of picks in trading is flawed, but you do you

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Yes, it says, second round, but we traded away our 2023 first in the Gavrikov-Korpisalo deal, so in English, the 2023 second is our first pick in this year's draft, just like I said.
It's usually a good idea to view proposed trades from the other team's perspective while constructing them.</div></div>
And also to be honest I don't think an NHL team would ever consider the lack of having a first round pick when trading their second round pick, so you're way off there. If they feel like the return for that pick is good, they'll do the trade. The Penguins had 1 pick in the first 4 rounds 2 years ago, quantity of selections for that draft year is rarely considered in a trade

I totally missed that, I still think POJ for a second is more than fair, it may not be the Kings but the Pens could get that return incredibly easily

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LetsGoPens69</b></div><div>Lol..sure. They trade McGinn. I bet they don’t.
Marino, Kappy, A 1st and a 2nd. Way too much for Miller.
Rakell just signed or 5M for 6 years. 30M total.
They just gave Kappy his QO; 840K. He won’t get more than 2.25M even if he goes to an Arb hearing. I would say 1.75M-2M per.
No QO for Heinen. He’s a UFA. If they resign him it will under 2M for sure.
E-Rod walks. He had a hot 2 weeks; was bad the rest of the year. 2.3M per is crazy. I really hope he doenst get that in Pittsburgh. I think a team will pay him 2M-3.5M per though. I just hope it’s not here. Too much.
Geno is testing the free agent market now. They tried 6M for 4 years. He said no.
Him and Sid have shared the reins like 2 superstars barely ever have. As well as we ever seen, in any sport. That doenst mean he signs for 2.7M less than Sid. No chance. That would be a sign of disrespect. I can’t see him signing for anything less than 7M per or he’ll walk. And he’ll get that elsewhere. I would say they settle and he gets 7.2M for 3 years.</div></div>
Well see what happens I guess, I completely disagree on your take on the miller trade. a 99 point scorer doesn't come cheap

Too much for E-Rod. He’ll probably walk. He can probably get more outside of Pittsburgh.
That’s too much for Miller. Kappy, Marino, a 1st and 2nd. Way too much. DeBrincat didn’t get two 25 year old NHL players. One signed long term and one a RFA.
Geno signs for 7.5M plus. Sid is making 8.7M. No way Geno takes less than 7.5M. I’m saying 8M. That still leaves enough to sign Rakell for 3.5-4M per. And Kappy and Heinen around 1.8M-2.25M per.
I can’t see major moves like this happening. Maybe one of Dumoulin or Pettersson gets traded. Maybe Zucker. Other than that. You’re gonna see a similar team to last seasons.</div></div>
Literally everything you just said is wrong

A first for Killorn straight up would be the best bet, and still if I’m Ron I wouldn’t even consider that. No point in giving up a first for a guy like that we can get in free agency or find and spend way less of an asset on.</div></div>
There is absolutely zero chance the Lightning take a first for Killorn. Nylander did have a good year but if you're making a push to win a cup you need guys like Killorn. Kapanen can't produce on Malkins line, that's why they brought in Rakell and there's no need to pay him to be a 3rd liner when you have E rod who can literally play everywhere in your lineup

again we can agree to disagree. I think the price is more than fair, pens would probably do it for a prospect and a fourth if not the 3rd. who would you put above Petterson on Detroit right now other than obviously seider (I haven't watched Detroit at all this year so I honestly don't know)

And J. T. Miller isn't happening without John Marino heading to Vancouver.
Reportedly Kris Letang wants $8,000,000 x 4 years and Vincent Troceheck get more as well.
And for the last time a 20 man roster isn't sustainable over a 82 game schedule. Players will get injured and you've 0 cap space for short term injuries and long term injuries.</div></div>
what makes you think trocheck will get much more than 6.5? and as I said in another post this return is extremely fair as kapanen is still very young and you can get him at a lower price point than a marino (I get they're different positions), legare is an extremely promising prospect and the first round selection would likely be around 20. if you actually believe Letang wouldn't stay over 350k I don't know what to tell you. If they need to give him an extra year they will.

curious as to why you wouldn't like the return. Kapanen is still very young and you can get him at a lower price than marino (I get they're different positions). Legare is a very promising prospect, arguably a top 3 prospect for the penguins currently. You also get a 1st round selection, which is likely to be around 20th overall. not so sure they'd move marino especially if they weren't able to sign Letang

Rodrigues has proven to be an extremely versatile forward. can play top 6 and bottom 6, power play and penalty kill. Heinen will get more than both of those deals you suggested, which means Rodrigues will get more. Maybe 3.2 is a lot, but definitely wouldn't be surprised for him to get around 3, especially considering this free agent year is fairly weak
