trade deadline
I've got a hard time giving up what amounts to two 1st Round Picks for a declining Kane, who won't be re-signing in Dallas in the offseason. Also not giving up arguably the 2nd best D prospect in the Stars organization AND a 2nd Round Pick for a guy like Maxime Comtois

Kane Ideas and predictions
Bichsel makes more sense for both sides compared to Harley. Either of those guys takes a first round pick off the table. Guri and Bichsel. Then a fourth round pick to a third team for salary retention. Would be a likely trade. Even then I would hope Dallas says no. Kane has always been a bad defensive player. He’s finally getting to the point where the good doesn’t outweigh the bad imo

Bert
Don't think Detroit pulls the trigger on this. Gurianov is more of a liability due to his contract vs. his production & Peterson really doesn't hold much more value than a 4th liner.
Bertuzzi's tough to gauge value-wise IMO, simply due to the fact that he's produced decently well over the last few years, but is having the worst year of his career this season -- he can't stay healthy and even when he's on the ice, he's not producing.
Do you pay for the player he has been for the last few years & hope that 1) he returns to form AND 2) that you can re-sign him? Or do you pay for the player he is right now? And if so, is Detroit willing to sell him for pennies on the dollar?

Which package is most likely
Stars have Heiskanen, Lindell, and Suter (even though he sucks) on the left side, no need for another LHD.

Boeser at the deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pgreenfield</b></div><div>While I do agree with you that the Suter buyout is something I would consider; I dont think Nill buyous out Suter, given his endearment (for better or worse) of veteran players. The Suter and Pavelski family connection is really close, and with Pavelski extending for another year, I have to assume that implies that Suter is planning on playing another year or two. Though, I can see Suter retiring if the Stars make a deep run, something Suter has never done in his career.
I think ultimately Suter will decide when he is done. If anything, they may bury Suter's contract in the minors and have him move into a different part of the organization for the life of his contract, similar to Comeau last year and Bishop the last couple years ("Officially" starting next year).</div></div>
Difference between Pavelski and Suter is that one of them actually produces and is worth the money he's making...and the other one is Suter.
Also, the Stars can't send Suter to the minors, due to his NMC. The difference between the Suter situation and the Bishop/Comeau situation is that the Stars could send Comeau to the minors and recoup his entire cap hit & we found someone Bishop was willing to waive his NMC for that would eat the last year of Bishop's contract. If, for some reason, Suter agreed to be sent to the minors, the Stars would still have a $2.5M cap hit for him.
Frankly, what Suter WANTS to do is irrelevant in this situation. He SHOULD be bought out for the betterment of the team over the next 2 years. Will Nill pull the trigger on a buyout though? Probably not.

ROR to DAL - Perfect fit
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>1 - The Blues do not trade stars to rivals unless it's a wild overpay, and even that has not happened in decades now.
2 - A 23 1st, sure. A protected 24 1st and a meh prospect for ROR, retention, taking two dumps? Nah. That's not good. The Blues are not going to subsidize some other teams' Cup chase, let alone a rival.
3 - <strong>Classic projection. Considering my solid record of calling Blues trades and signings here, you might just prefer to listen a little</strong>.</div></div>

Gurianov is an expiring contract which would be needed in the OP's suggested trade for cap reasons. I'm leaning towards Bert not being traded. But no one ever knows with Yzerman.

Boeser at the deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pgreenfield</b></div><div>I think Vancouver would need to retain more for the Stars to consider this. It's not the package it costs, it's the lack of future Cap Space the Stars have to be able to add Kiviranta, Glendening replacements next year, plus the next contract for Dellandrea. Stars would have zero flexibility into the offseason, and only 2.6m in cap space in 23-24 given your scenario.
So the Stars either need more retention from Vancouver (which increases the return), or the Stars need to look for a cheaper option.</div></div>
Not commenting on the value of the deal, but the Stars can quickly solve that cap issue by buying out Suter. Buying out Suter gives Dallas enough cap to sign Dellandrea to a <$2M contract, call up both Harley and Stankoven for NHL roles, and sign cheap depth pieces for the 4th line/3rd pair (internal candidates would be Joel Hanley & Jacob Peterson)

Detroit declines. Rather just re-sign Bert. Most Red Wings fans on here will accept.

Well Dallas declines that Chicago trade. Two of Dallas’ top-3 prospects & a couple of 2nd round picks for a guy who’s on pace for one of the worst (likely THE worst) season of his career, in addition to likely not being able to re-sign him this offseason?
Far too steep a price for Dallas. That’s the kind of package you throw at Timo Meier, not Kane at this stage in their respective careers.

No worries, PHI will take Khudobin for 2 7ths and a 6th

I think you are giving way too much for Kapanen. Just swap him with Gurianov along with Gleason. Those 2nd round picks are worth a lot. Remember Robertson and Stankoven?
Suter is going nowhere. He has a NMC and nobody wants a fast declining 38 years old D with that awful contract. He is with Dallas for the duration or will be bought out.
