Its a nice bridge deal but its not a great comparable to the situation Sergechev was in</div></div>
Sergachev was playing 22 mins per night during both cup runs, he was not a third pair D.
I'm just pointing that those kind of bridge deals are sooo team friendly. It sad to see players with no leverage get underpaid but it helps the team to build around those bargain deals to reach the cup

This deal reminds me of the bridge contract Sergachev signed before his huge contract.

same thought here, it's why I wonder why he would sign the contract right now. He was playing 22 mins per night during the playoffs...
He will be given the opportunity to play top 4. He should have bet on himself

In terms of projected hits, ANA have the #2 (gudas), #5 (hagg), and #45 (lyubushkin) defencemen on their blueline next season.
(from Jfresh)
Maybe they plan to get a top 5 again, but they are going "tough to play against" road it seems

They do have a lot of cap space short term, so Ghost 1 year I dont see the problem.
But locking Holl and Chiarot (last summer) this long is troubling

hmm yeah bad take mate
Just this year :
On-ice goals % is at 73,8% which is CRAZY high (4th in the league)
Still #1 in faceoff
With Pasta and Marchand they are at 68% xG, 3rd best line in the league
And all that at 37, before retiring.

it has to involve Faksa. Dumping Hakanpaa is not enough (21 men roster) and moving other salaries dont really make sense (newly signed players)

Leafs can run a 21 men roster without putting Timmins on waivers.
Lafferty and Reaves on waivers. Nobody will claim Reaves with that ugly contract. Maybe Lafferty but I doubt.
They will use some weird cap shenanigans to reach the cap limit before putting Muzzin and Murray on LTIR. I was able to reach 772$ cap space by putting on waivers Reaves only.
They are sadly used to 21 men roster anyway

Petry
Personally, I'm not even doing that trade if I'm Hughes.
I would be asking for a late 1st for Petry at 50%.
The trade I proposed involve no real valuable assets going to MTL.
Hughes has no need to trade Petry hockey-wise.
On Evans, he's borned and raised by the club. If you want to build a winning culture in MTL, I'm sure Evans helps with that.
I'm just finding a consensus on a fair trade involving DAL and MTL. If that's it, I tend to think Hughes does not pull the trigger

I agree. MTL doesnt need Marchment, but if Faksa is not involved, who else can be involved? Nobody other than Marchment.

Petry
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>justaBoss</b></div><div>Also, Faksa's defensive prowess last year was extremely valuable, I do not see the point in moving him, he's one of the best 4Cs in the league, albeit a bit expensive.</div></div>
The question then is how to make the trade work without Faksa leaving. Hakanpaa only involved = 21 men roster
Smith Dadonov Duchene just signed, they are not moving
Suter can't be moved
So there's Marchment. Do you think Nill would give up on Marchment after a so so year? MTL doesn't need him tho, but DAL would then have the cap space to fill his spot (assuming Petry comes at 50% RS) and sign someone like Tatar.

that could work cap wise for DAL only if they send Hakanpaa in the minors. 23/23 roster with 33k cap space.
Could be a way to pull the trade
