Nice. Higher on LD depth chart than Lajoie and Lagesson.

Leafs really looked at the Ducks and said "this is how we fix our defense"

Apparently one of the worst defensemen in the league defensively but the ducks played him against tough competition. I think we'd see something drastically different on a 3rd pairing part time

Defensive defense man on the worst D in the league. The fact that the Ducks decided a one-year, $787,500 qualifying offer is probably pretty telling. Then again you can't really go wrong with a league minimum contract.

Dude was terrible last year playing 2nd pairing minutes. Maybe he'll settle as a 3rd pairing defender, but likely he's not a full time NHL player.

No, he's not good, but he's also not terrible. Great at getting in the way or people and shots, will let you know he's there with hits, but that's about it.

Poor guy had to try and cover for Klingberg last season, it didn't go well as he is no Esa Lindell.

He had to cover Klingbergs A$$. That's a damn tall order for a 6/7 guy.

Good depth, and certainly qualifies as one of those "long D" that Treliving loves so much.

Good 7th defenseman, maybe a move on the backend is looming to make the Leafs cap compliant

Tough choice between him and Timmins, if you have Timmins than for sure the team carries 20 man roster but Timmins is a rfa Rhd who can replace Brodie or Klingberg next year, if he plays well.

With Benoit you get size and hits and a cheaper contract, which may allow a 21 man roster, but he'll need sheltered limited ice time.

Will be interesting.

It's league min. They will have at least 20 skaters. I do wonder if this means good bye to timmins
