Hockey Trade
Not much in that NJ retrun hat is of interest, Toffoli gonna walk July 1st, no interest in Nosek reunion, and Bussi is the backup, no need for more young goalie competition
If Ullmark is moved, it should be for young players/prospects/draft capital, not for pending UFAs
Even if they resign Toffoli, could do that without moving Ullmark

Another TD trade
That should be the price for Dumba, absolutely insane that Billy boy wants a 1st for him :tearsofjoy
Hard to imagine Flames or Bruins would do that Hanifin trade
Poitras isnt going anywhere and Devils decline anyway, Mercer would be near impossible to pry from NJ
Mantha would be a good rental, but BOS cant afford to pay high prices for rentals this szn

Spence is good, but not what Bruins need/are looking for and Talbot is of least interest of the 3 IMO

Not much interest from BOS standpoint
Spence is solid young player, Kaliyevs a tweener and Talbot no interest

Correct this mistake
Kings made their decision to sign 36yo Talbot in FA, no idea why they wouldnt go get a better, longer term solution
This past offszn wouldve been this best time to trade for Ullmark, now not so much, and BOS has no interest in PLD or that contract

Revisiting a trade thought
Overpay for Hanifin, giving up Merk and Lohrei is quite a bit, tacking on JD and a 2nd is too much
I'm all for trading JD if it means bringing in someone more useful, guy picks and chooses which games he gives an effort and clearly doesnt wanna be in BOS
Reaaaaaaaaally dont want that Vanecek contract, even if it means getting Holtz, not worth as a backup and not fair to Bussi who deserves an NHL job

Rebuild
Bruins aren't near good enough to win this year, the whole "playoffs are a different animal" isnt gonna matter for this team, they simply do not have the team to do it this season
Personally believe selling would be the best way to go, dont care that they've been in 1st place most of the season, there are much better teams in the East and theres no point in wasting more assets to slightly improve the bottom 6 or bottom pair, those small marginal upgrades wont matter when they get bounced in 5 or 6 in the first round, get as many assets for pending UFAs as possible
Especially DeBrusk, guys the streakiest player in the league and really seems to pick and choose which games he shows up and gives effort for and which games he takes off, clearly doesn't wanna be in BOS, ship him to a contender in the West while you can
DeBrusk, Griz, Shatty, Forbort, JVR, and Ullmark should roughly fetch those returns
As much as CGY fans will say otherwise, Lohrei + 1st is an overpayment for rental Hanifin
Ducks would want more for Zegras, although hes pretty overrated and I wouldn't pay that price for him

That wont get Swayman
The 1st is good, but Soogard and Forsberg are of no interest
Not that it would ever happen, but if BOS were to trade Sway to a division rival like OTT, it would start with Norris +

This would be the ideal trade IMO
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingofRnR</b></div><div>Not bad. Would prefer Poitras, Lohrei or Lysell, but Merkulov seems like a decent prospect. Flames just don’t really need Left Shot Wingers right now is all
BOS would likely have to include one of Grz, Forbert or DeBrusk as well to clear up more Cap Space</div></div>
Merkulovs a natural Centre, but he could play both and you can choose either Forbort or Griz to be included, whichever you prefer

VGK wont want Griz and Bruce would keep him in the press box anyway
Not much value for Seeler, doubt PHI wants that

Way too much going to SJ for that return, at most, Duclair for a mid round pick

Overpayment of the year
Remove both Lohrei and Lysell, then add something of less value, Buch only has 1 more year on his contract and he isnt a bonafide superstar

Goodbye Ully
This would be a pathetic return for Ullmark, nothing against Toffoli, but a 3rdpair/7th Dman, a 31yo pending UFA, and a backup goalie (who wont play backup in BOS) aint it.
Ullmark would be traded for picks/prospects/younger players with term

Deadline bruins if they trust Swayman
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>I’m kind of curious what Calgary’s and NJD’s thoughts on Holtz is compared to the first round and third round pick. Id value Holtz over those personally, but I’m not sure where either is there. There is something to say for more service time, but I just view that jump from Junior to AHL/NHL as so big that if a prospect shows competence there: he has more credit in my book,
To NJD: Ullmark and Forbort
To Bos: Hanifin and Vanacek ($1 m retained)
To Calgary: Holtz or 2024 NJD 1st/3rd, 2026 Boston 2nd, any prospect not in Boston’s top 3 (no Lohrei, Poitras, Lysell)
I could see Calgary having an interest in Grzelcyk for Vladar swap instead of giving Forbort to NJD for Vanacek. It buys a few youngsters more time and Grz might covet contractual stability / opportunity at this stage. Plus, I think Vladar is a negative contract and that might have value for Calgary
Is Poirier ready to be a top 4 D once he’s healthy or should he develop as a 3rd line guy who can beat out Grz? Plus, I think Wolf and Markstrom is an ideal pairing. Its better to ease a young goaltender in as part of a duo rather than just make him the unconditional number 1</div></div>
If Hanifin signs an extension with BOS that could be worth, although bringing on Vanecek re-introduces the Forbort problem where Bruins have another 3mill bad contract for another szn, if they could flip him for a mid-late rounder, Id much rather have Bussi backup

Deadline bruins if they trust Swayman
Ullmark would fetch a 1st and not much else, so NJD declines
Probably have to up the package for Hanifin a little bit, but add another prospect of 2nd, and its good
Griz probably fetches a mid round pick at best, and it wont be to Bruce Cassidys golden knights

Do they? A 1st + any other assets for Ullmark would be fine, Spence is a great prospect, and pending UFA Talbot only makes 1mill, not crazy about retention, but there have definitely been worse offers
Obviously would prefer assets to help the forwards or get Hanifin, but this is pretty solid IMO, wouldn't expect LAK to offer it tho<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>I have the get out of jail free card trade I’ve already mentioned

Is the only point of retaining 1mill on both Forbort and Vanecek for next year of Vanecek? Just do Forbort no retention
If that gets Hanifin you pull that trigger, but theyd get better offers
