Would love that Frolik deal, but why would NJ do that?? I think the best deal we can get for Frolik now is a 3rd rounder, plus maybe a 5th or 6th added in. We need his 4.3 mil off the books and other teams know that, plus he only has one year left.

Stone Frolik Brodie Jankowski and Czarnik
Gusev can't be offersheeted. He has to be traded. Vegas won't trade him to Calgary , IMO. The Devils trade is good for both teams. Pretty sure Florida wouldn't give up Trochek for Brodie/Jankowski, but it's worth a shot. Really not sure about Wideman as a third pairing D.

I like the Tamba Trade. Probably trying to get too much from NYI for Duchene - although I think Dal Colle might be a bust. Definitely not enough for Stone though. He's an excellent two way RW. Silvferberg is decent, the first and another 2nd I'd say.

Trying to get a goalie
Where's Hanifin? What about Rasmus Andersson? Mangiapane or Foo have a great chance to make this team as well... No way Calgary is gonna sign Emelin or Hartnell. Bennett for M. Subban... Not a bad idea, but I think a 2nd round pick coming back to Calgary would make it fairer. Also your lines are a bit screwy.

Calgary Flames Opening Day Roster
About right IMO! Andersson plays RD, Kulak LD. And I think (read hope) that Mangiapane (or Foo if he deserves, with Dube getting an outside chance to crack this roster), Ryan, and Czarnik interchange with Bennett, Jankowski, Frolik as an equal playing bottom 6, with whomever is playing better getting a few extra shifts depending on the game... love our new bottom 6. While Brouwer and Hathaway are pressbox relegated. I also hope Gillies outplays Ridditch for the back up spot, I think he has more upside, and will improve more by practicing with the Flames at this point and feeling more comfortable in the NHL.

Right, then I suppose it's not so unreasonable. I hope the Flames wouldn't do it though, Tkachuk is awesome right now....

sorry but as a flames fan I just don't see why the Flames would do this... Fabbri is ok but might not recover from this latest injury. Tkachuk keeps getting better! a 2nd round pick is not even close, and I don't know who Kostin is. He is not an NHL player. Tkachuk is almost a first line winger on any team and is scoring goals in bunches. I don't think I'd even trade him for Tarasenko at this point. He's younger, his ceiling is super high, he plays in his own end so well and makes other players better. His salary is still one more ELC year. so this isnt even close, sorry.

Looks good for Oilers fans, although they should've gotten a lot more for Hall or a better Dman. You're going to replace Hall with Lucic and pay him more than Hall? Buy out Ference, and this salary cap gets more room. Go Flames Go! ;)

Need a 7th dman on the roster. Frolik plays RW. Wayyyyyy overpaying Ortio. 900000 tops, he'd be happy with that. I hope we don't sign Brouwer for that much! He's ok, but not that good!

No way would Calgary trade TJ Brodie straight up for Fleury. Brodie is a top ten young defenceman. Pitt is gonna be desperate to move Fleury soon enough. Pitt will be lucky to get Calgary's 2nd round pick.

This is ridiculous. 1st, Calgary would never trade 6th overall for Bobrovsky. 2nd, you're way overpaying for Auston Matthews, ridiculously. Why would you give up Puljujarvi, Wennberg and 6th overall for Matthews!!!?? Not to mention Rychel and Milano for Bozak (which isn't TOO bad)...

Realistic options
1. Reimer at 3 years, Ortio to backup for 2 years, Gillies should be ready to come up. Reimer is a steady goalie who is capable and could be a pleasant surprise.
2. Solid trade to move up to 3rd overall to get Puljujarvi. Foligno takes Colborne's roster spot. Clb get two second round picks just to move down 3 spots to take Brown/Keller/Jost, and a likely third pairing defenceman in Kulak. They also shed some salary.
3. New Jersey or somebody will take Wideman, who can still play. He only has one year left on that contract. Calgary will need to take back some salary in return, but get a 2nd round pick in doing so, NJ gets an upgrade on their second pairing D (or Boston, or another team).
4. Derek Grant is ready to be an NHL center. I certainly hope we sign him July 1st.
5. This team should be much better than last year, with a better goalie, a better start, and more mature/experienced players in Gaudreau, Monahan, Bennett, Ferland, Hamilton... Puljujarvi is gonna be a stud, I hope that Calgary can get that pick from Columbus!

I wouldn't say so disrespectful, but it definitely isn't enough to get it done. Either a better draft pick needs to go to Columbus, or a decent prospect, or Backlund... In my trade with columbus i traded monahan to them for third overall, plus kulak, but with Foligno coming back to Calgary too.

1. Flames make huge trade: Monahan and Kulak for Foligno ($500000 retained by Jackets) and 3rd overall pick (Puljujarvi).
2. Flames trade Wideman (1.25 mil retained by Cgy), Klimchuk and their 2nd rounder (35th overall) for MAF.
3. Flames trade 6th overall pick to the Habs for 9th overall, Paul Byron, and a 3rd rounder in 2017.
4. Flames draft Tyson Jost 9th overall as a future replacement in 2017-2018 for Monahan. In the meantime, Bennett anchors line 2, Backlund moves up to line 1, and Derek Grant is signed as the third line center, with Stajan and Byron being possible 4th line centers.
*** Pitt is not in a position to ask too much for MAF as there are a lot of other goalies available from teams for trade: B. Bishop, B. Elliott, J. Halak, F. Andersen, J. Howard, etc.

I'd trade Monahan for Puljujarvi and Foligno. Nylander can spend 6 months to a year in the AHL if he's not good enough to crack top 3 lines in Calgary. I hope Jokipakka and Nakladal can play well enough to make sending Wideman away viable. I'd sign Okposo over Backes, or Eriksson...

Nice trade for Yakupov. Need to add another d on here, someone who can play with Subban. Markov should be limited to very few shifts, only offensive zone starts and pp time. I think 4.5 million for Brouwer is way too much, come down around 3.8 per year.

Some interesting moves. 1st off, trading for Nichuskin isn't a bad idea, but you're overpaying for him. Debrusk is enough straight up, IMO, or Hayes and Krug. Rather keep Debrusk in the fold. I love the idea of Dumba coming to Boston, would be great. Not sure about the Yandle signing, would prefer 3-4 years tops at that price. Is Okposo maybe a better investment for Boston than Yandle?

Why not dum dum? Wideman has one more year, Iggy has one more year, same salaries. Avs have Rantanen to take Iggy's spot, and will probably move Barrie for a high draft pick or prospects, Wideman can fill Barries spot for one year, and takes Iggys cap hit. Wideman is not a true Top 4 dman, and the Avs have a stock pile of guys who are 3rd pairing guys (Holden, Gelinas, Beauchemin). Wideman is 5m in wasted cap space, at least iggy is useful on the PP and in a bottom 6 role. Also Wideman blocks a roster spot for Zadorov and or Bigras.
So yes it is a terrible dumb trade for the Avs</i></div></div>
Well that's where we disagree. Wideman is a 4th dman on their roster, and a very useful 2nd line PP man. He's better than Zadorov for one more year, Zadorov needs more time to develop. Anyways, not a dumb trade for the AVS, considering that (IMO) Wideman will help their team more next year than Iggy will. And vice versa for Calgary. It's all speculative anyways.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>skrollins</b></div><div><i>Even with goalie market flooded I think you'd be pretty lucky to get Reimer for 3.6. Probably add around a million to that cap hit (Niemi went for $4.5 per last year.)
Re: the Pronger thing - it seems to be a popular option on here, evidently based on the notion Arizona would rather pay a guy to actually play. But here's the key fact people miss - Pronger's ACTUAL SALARY for his final year is just $575K. It's why they traded for that deal, so they could get to the floor without actually paying what the cap hit implied. (It's also why his contract is even still in effect, since it was one of the now-banned cap cheat deals). Wideman, on the other hand, has an actual salary of $6M in 2017. So Arizona would be doing Calgary a favour in that deal, not the other way around. I wouldn't call it impossible but improbable; Flames likely would have to throw something in.</i></div></div>
I didn't know Skrollings, thanks for the info. In that case it is very improbable, or the Flames would have to sweeten the offer as you said.
