Kreider - Agree should trade for a 1st and prospect. Though he's my favourite Ranger, he's too expensive to resign and the term of his contract would most likely be an albatross when young players develop and fill the roster.

Strome - Probably have to trade him (preferably for draft picks) because with him being an RFA with arbitration rights at seasons end, he's pricing himself off the team being payed as a centre. And with the young depth at centre the Rangers have, he would play wing.

Staal - Rangers have a lot of younger players better than Staal at his position. If he can't get into the lineup maybe he retires at the end of the season. If not, after next season Staal, Smith, Lundqvist, and Shattenkirk's balloon buyout payment come off the books. So the young players will at least get a chance to develop some before filling holes in the roster with UFA's the season after next.

Haley - Does his job well. Doesn't take bad penalties and keeps the other team's mind on just playing hockey. Works for minimum wage. Doesn't complain about playing time. Might still be really good at winning face-offs? I say keep him as a 4th liner or the 13th-14th forward for as long as he could keep up skating with those he's protecting.

Smith - Looking forward to his expensive contract coming off the books the season after next. Until then he's ok on the 4th line and an ok veteran penalty killer on defence- where younger D-men on the team might currently get tricked by the other teams shifty scoring talent on the power play. He's willing to drop the gloves to protect his teammates and does a rather darn good job when doing so. So you (like the players he's on the ice with) can feel safe with Smith.

Rykov - I'm a hockey fan, not a doctor!

Shesterkin - Just won AHL goalie of the month for October. Right now though there's no room on the roster for him. With Georgiev being an RFA without arbitration rights at the end of the season, maybe Gorton could get a 1st round pick in trade from a team up against the salary cap and in need of a very good and improving young goalie... so if Georgiev keeps playing as well as he's been playing, Shesterkin will have to stay in Hartford until a spot opens up.

Chytil - Should stay up with the big club and makes the depth at centre deep enough to trade Strome for draft picks without hurting too much.

Fast - Two words, "Game Film"... I have a feeling that when the coach is reviewing the game film from the night before with the players, Fast is always where he's supposed to be and doing what he's supposed to be doing. Which is very helpful to a young team in need of a little more hands on coaching.

Deangelo - Being an RFA at seasons end with arbitration rights... If he keeps putting up points like he's been doing, might price himself into being traded for draft picks. Especially if Gorton could get at least a 1st round pick for him. In addition Joey Keane just scored his 6th goal in the 12th game of the season to lead Hartford in goals scored. So he's already looking ready for a spot on the big club as a right handed D-man.

So maybe NYR trades Kreider, Strome, Deangelo, Georgiev, for high draft picks.
