You're acting like hes not willing to trade anything. The only untouchables are Knies, Niemela, and this years 1st. If he can't get a rental D with Robertson, Hirvonen, every other prospect, roster players, and future 1sts then he shouldnt be a GM.

If he's going to be stubborn and not make the team better, then so be it, maybe he should be fired if he had the opportunity to make the team better but he chose to be stubborn. I just really hope Kyle knows what an "all in" year is.</div></div>
I mean, we went "all in" last year and look where it got us. There are ways to improve the team without giving up your entire future. I agree with Dubas on this one, we have given up way too many picks and prospects over the last few years, and with Amirov's future in doubt its too risky to give away our biggest assets.

Dubas already said we arent trading Niemala and this years 1st. So you would have to switch them out for next years 1st and Hirvonen, which Arizona probably doesn't take.

Giving up too much in the miller trade. I understand thats the asking price but its not worth it for the leafs imo.

I completely agree. Trading away the likes of Liljegren, Robertson or any of our A prospects for a rental would be a huge mistake.

Friedman reported it, "Toronto's made it clear they desire to hold Knies and Niemela. Nick Robertson for a rental seems unlikely. After the olympics, Nick Abruzzese moved towards this group. They don't have a ton of draft picks, but feel very good about their prospects."

That is assuming van is willing to retain, the leafs have given up so much of their future as it is, giving up our best is not worth it imo.

The J.T miller deal is a bad idea for the leafs. Liljegren most likely resigns for something around 2 years-1.5 mil. Having a player of his ceiling for that price as well as Robertson for 800k will be crucial to helping us stay under the cap while also having depth.

Lyubushkin might want closer to 2 mil. The cap is also going up to 82.5 mil next season so you forgot to incorporate that. Trading kerfoot for laughton isnt worth it, kerfoot is the better player and we also arent stuck with his contract for 4 more years like we would with laughton. Also, holl and dermott are worth more than that.

Could have maybe swapped Dzingel for Fischer but meh Dzingel is a useful bottom 6 guy and Dubas probs could get him on 750k next year.</div></div>
Ya I mean I feel like Dzingel doesn't add anything for us. Apparently Arizona took Crouse off of the trade block yesterday which is kinda unfortunate

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mauston_atthews</b></div><div>Dude ur not seriously complaining about this trade, it was cap space, a defensive RD, a decent depth forward, for a 2023 3rd or a 2025 2nd. They could’ve gotten nothing from this and I would’ve been fine. Also, the trade deadline is sometime in mid March, they have lost of time to figure out what they wanna do. They can see how the new guys work out, and go from there, they can still get crouse. However, I’m not sure where he’d fit on this very deep lineup that has great line chemistry already. I don’t really wanna break up any line except the 4th I guess</div></div>
You got me all wrong. The trade was great, I just feel as if dzingel was a useless pickup since I dont see him cracking the team. He has already been put on waivers. Adding a pick or two to get crouse instead would have been a big pickup as he could provide a physical presence to the top 6 and contribute offensively. He is only -3 on the worst team in the league so he isn't awful defensively either.

Yeah, he's a real sniper.
Mikheyev even after a poor season last year (coming off serious wrist injury) has a higher career goals per game.
Crouse would be a Clifford upgrade on the Leafs.
That's about it.</div></div>
Like I said, Higher ceiling. Getting buried in the bottom 6 of a bottom 5 team in the league isn't exactly the best opportunity to succeed.

Could easily add to the offer on the leafs end. Add a 3rd and/or prospect. Doesn't really matter to me. The leafs need to win now so trading away picks or prospects that will help the team in 3-5 years from now isn't an issue imo.

I would try to sign another asset for this position.</div></div>
I just think it will be too hard for Dubas to sign the players they need at a good price.
