If Carlson isn't moved to LTIR, no. In that situation, I think Washington gets under the cap by waiving Eller and one of NAK/Snively/Protas. If Carlson is moved to LTIR, then I believe (if I've done the math properly), Washington should have anywhere between 3-5 mil in cap, which should be enough to Gudas, or maybe a more expensive player like Severson or Dumba 50% retained. Currently Wilson is on regular IR, so Washington won't have to clear any space other than a lineup spot to get Wilson back.

At that point, I'd rather keep Mantha and trade a 3rd/2nd for Gudas. IMO, Mantha's been screwed over much of the year by poor deployment and it seems to have really gotten to his head. He's still a fantastic winger and I'm sure we'll see him start to play a lot better when he gets a stable center assignment that isn't named Lars Eller and some pressure for him to score is alleviated with the return of Backstrom and Wilson. Whatever defenseman the Caps pick up, in all likelihood, won't have term past this year and needs to be someone that is cheap and able to play down in the lineup when Carlson eventually returns, so I'd rather not sacrifice Mantha for someone like that.

Wouldn't they just move Carlson to LTIR and keep them both? If he's out long term I see no reason for the Caps to deal either player when you can move Carlson to LTIR.

If Jensen cannot return
I think if Jensen is actually out theyll call Iorio up but to be the 7th guy. He's played very well in hershey, certainly better than carlsson and macilrath, and deserves to at least cash an nhl check for a couple of days as a reward for his play. irwin was horrible last night, but as others have pointed out has actually performed pretty solidly.

I dont want to bring Iorio up at all, hes playing really well down in Hershey and I dont want to risk hurting his development. Let him play the whole year in the AHL and next year integrate him into the NHL imo.

Irwin was awful today but in general he’s been solid. Definitely get Iorio a look but I wouldn’t marry myself to a LuJo-Iorio third pair. Dangerous levels of inexperience

If all players are healthy in the playoffs
Brown and Hagelin are confirmed to be out for the year. No need to move anyone except a couple guys down to hershey. even if they did decide to move eller or sheary, they could get better returns for both, and honestly the destinations would be a lot better if you swapped teams.

Boeser and Demko
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HockeyIsMyPassion61</b></div><div>Krebs is the only decent piece, the rest doesn't get both Boeser and Demko. And you're not getting both players without a 1st round pick going back.</div></div>
Kulich is the youngest player in the AHL, and has put up 14 points in 20 games while playing a solid two way game. He was a first rounder last year and I believe he will be a top 6 player.
Cozens would never be included in this trade. Boeser is not a player the Sabres need, and Thatcher has been less than impressive this year. Not worth giving up a 21 year old two way center playing at a PPG pace.
As it stands, this doesn’t look like a trade the Sabres would make. I think KA values Krebs/Kulich too much, and would probably trade a 2nd + B prospect (or something like that) for a goalie in the offseason if trading for a tender is the route he wants to take.

Make it our 2024 first and I would do that as the Los Angeles GM. We're now tied for 30th in goals given up with San Jose and the only other team that's given up more is the other California team.

We can get a lot more for Orlov.
Player Quality = 1st.
50% Retention on an already good deal = High Prospect/2nd.
To outbid other teams = mid-round pick/a decent prospect
Basically the equivalent of a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd or 4th. The deal must be better than Chiarot

The NY pick is going to be top 15, so that second will be a strong 2nd pick. I rather NYR keep their picks

My guy, this AGM is just showing what the best possible Capitals alumni would look like today.
Forsberg was traded as a prospect from WSH to NSH way back in the day.
OP is showing what the WSH lineup could've been had they done different moves.
He's certainly not suggesting that Forsberg for Hagelin + Brown would go down irl.

trade deadline
If Oshie just had this year left and he was a UFA this summer he would get a 1st with half money eaten but you won't get a 1st for him with many years left.
Jensen will get a 1st, especially with money retained.
TvR would get something much better than a 7th but Gus and Mojo probably don't get that much so it evens out.

not my first choice, but if it came down to avs only trading a 3rd at the deadline to pick up an Eller type, I dont hate that. A lot better than the 1st for Monahan nonesense we avs fans get 2 dozen times a day
