Offseason
I personally think we need to get rid of both of Neal, and Koskinen and get a better goalie. Either sign or trade... a few in mind is: Elvis Merzlikins, Linus Ullmark, Antti Raanta, etc. Draisaitl needs to centre his own line, so we need to get a good 2-way left winger for McDavid.... a few options on mind are: Brandon Saad, Blake Coleman, Tomas Tatar, Zach Hyman, etc. Fingers crossed Klefbom returns, and Nuge resigns, but I’m not too sure that Nuge will resign. Depending on how much the other teams offer.

Rolling 3 lines next year
Forward group looks impressive. Dreidger doesn't have enough experience to make a 100% bet as a starter and Forsberg is not a good enough backup. I would resign Smith.
Also not sure how Neal is on LTIR lol but I guess if Tampa can do it why not.
Doubt you have enough space to resign Nurse, Bear, and Jesse in 22/23. Dreidger also probably costs more. I would not sign Barrie, sign Kulikov instead and keep Bouchard as a RD. Then the money should work too.

I like this plan. Fixes our defensive issues. Still a huge question mark at 3C. Maybe that could be fixed if we find a way to unload Neal in a trade to clear the extra money to sign a guy like Danault, Haula, Wennberg, Lowry, etc.. this summer

Would Tampa consider this
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Borocop</b></div><div>i dont think that anyones really interested in dealing for klefbom rn</div></div>
It's not a move for right now anyways. I don't think TBL can afford to keep both Cirelli and Sergachev so might as well get a good player back for one of them. Klefbom will be on LTIR for most of this season which buys them time. And when he comes back, they'll have another good defenceman signed to a reasonable contract

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Riley816</b></div><div>If Bear signs 2x1.5 that's a good point for Cernak. Cirelli?? Not sure.
It's then following season that is the problem for TB. Klefboom makes about the same as Sergachev would. Leaves them in a similar spot with Klefboom instead of Sergachev...</div></div>
I think the trade makes sense and they'd have enough to sign Cirelli to 2.5 - 3M and Cernak to 2M based off my ACGM on the Lighting. They'd still need to trade Coburn, then maybe bring back a vet at 900K and Cal Foote or someone at 900K.
No matter how you slice it, the Lightning will need to trade good players because of the cap. I think if they do this, they'll atleast have a good defenceman and will buy them time until next year.

The Buffalo trade is a loss for Edmonton too. Jones alone has at least twice the value of Lazar.

Wow big pass from oilers. Really hate how people assume JP is trash because he’s over seas... you do understand he’s young can step into nearly any teams top six is an above average skater with a heavy shot and excellent vision. He’s not in Finland because he’s a bust he’s in Finland because Todd was a horrible coach in Edmonton. As a fan that watched nearly every single game JP played in its painful to see sooo many making this mistake. His nhl numbers don’t jump off the page strictly due to usage and getting constantly strapped to lucic who dragged down every single oilers numbers

After 139 pro games EDM determined he's not good enough enough to play in the NHL. And you want to trade him straight up for Anderson? Not even your GM from last season would make that trade.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>I_Know_Nothing_About_Hockey_Or_Any_Sport2</b></div><div>Are there rumors that the Lightning are interested in Puljujarvi? I’m just curious because I’ve seen a lot of Armchair-GMs about it.
I don’t know how much sense this trade makes. Puljujarvi seems to have a better trajectory than Raddysh, while Raddysh gives the Lightning cost control (and he does play a physical style that would help the Lightning if he could manage it on an NHL level, but I don’t know enough about Puljujarvi to say that he doesn’t too). Especially if Puljujarvi can be somewhat physical, the Lightning probably do this trade, but I would be surprised if the Oilers did it.</div></div>
Bob Stauffer (who usually subtly hints at things and is right as he is very very in the loop with Oilers management) mentioned the lightening and Hurricanes as potential suitors for Puljujärvi.
The hurricanes make sense, they’ve coveted him to play with Aho for a while, as they did internationally for Finland a lot, as well as with their club team in Karpat before they came over.
I made this with TB to see what could fit since if Stauffer is saying it there is usually something going on. Raddysh is a fit because he used to play with McDavid in Erie and is probably very close to NHL ready after a good season in the AHL. Puljujärvi has dropped off to the point where I’m hoping either for a prospect of similar pedigree that is having similar struggles (I had thoughts of Alex Nylander up till yesterday) or a prospect of lesser pedigree that is developing above projections (like Raddysh).

Lets fix this team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jtcurls</b></div><div>Toronto will want more for the 3 guys they are moving. Yes they are in salary cap he’ll but they are in win now mode and you only offer 1 guy in Benning who would make next years roster.
Eathan bear is a similar prospect to what they have in sandin and lillegren already.
Don’t want picks and prospects.
Deal built around Larsson, Kadri, Brown and maybe Kapanen would work but if Kapanen included it would need to be a first plus a 3rd</div></div>
I agree that Toronto would want more, however Toronto doesn’t have cap space to sign Kapanen, so I figured Oilers could either offer sheet him which would only cost them a second, or trade for him. (Valued as 2nd plus Bear)
Kadri is not in the good books with his team, so I thought he would come a bit cheaper. (Valued as Benning, Khaira, Puljujarvi)
Brown could probably be had for the 3rd round pick
I think this works well for both teams, helps Toronto get out of cap hell with cheaper younger players. Oilers get some decent forwards to balance out the lineup.
Oilers take on $11 million in contract, while sending about $4million to Toronto. So that’s $7 million in savings for them to put towards signing Marner!
I could see possibly adding a mid to late round pick, or Gambardella to Toronto
I don’t see Larsson getting traded. Oilers can’t afford to overpay in free agency for a top 4 right shot defenceman

oh yeah, definitely meets both teams organizational needs!!
But, who replaces Larsson in EDM on the right side? Just feels like EDM would be filling one hole but creating another.
And I am a strong believer that an RHD is more valuable than a winger.

How???? Nuge is way more valuable than ehlers. Why would the oilers trade a 2 way center for a one dimensional winger. A mediocre one dimensional winger at best. Oilers can get a better deal for a 37 point winger somewhere else.

Edmonton's in a position where they're going to need to find a cost-effective fit alongside McDavid for the time being. Gauthier has a toolbox that suggests he's play well with McDavid, and Puljujarvi could be attractive to the Hurricanes given time to rekindle his magic with Aho. It's not about me thinking he's a first-line winger right now, it's me seeing a fit based on Gauthier's speed and keeping balance on lines 2 and 3.
Average wingers alongside 100-point centers probably play better than typically-average wingers.
