Although it doesn't make any sense for Ottawa, paying Boston's 1st to dump Korpisalo is fair IMO.
So, it comes down to whether Ferraro + Blackwood is worth giving up for Norris + two 3rds.
Frankly, it doesn't make for either team, given that Ottawa has too many LDs and Norris has a growing list of injuries.

Norris for Kotkaniemi and saving 3 mill
Chychrun for Necas</div></div>
It doesn't make a difference IMO.
Kotkaniemi is a soft depth forward that is occasionally a healthy scratch while Norris can score 35 goals in a season if healthy.
It is way too early to consider a buyout for Norris.

Norris for Necas is fine.
Chychrun for Kotkaniemi is a catastrophe.

1. Under a million on a 1-2 year deal for Chris Driedger
2. A 1st + two 2nds for Jakob Chychrun
3. Boston's 1st + a pending UFA depth defenceman that can play on the powerplay for Timothy Liljegren
4. Jacob Bernard Docker + Boston's 1st + a 3rd if Ottawa wins the Cup for Jacob Markstrom.

Realistic Next Year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sens2030</b></div><div>For sure, extension for both teams is a must. Sounded like something was close at the TDL. I personally like Chychrun and wish we move Chabot and his money instead. Contrary to Staios exit interview and popular belief, I feel the team buyout Forsberg as Korpi buyout is awful.</div></div>
What I think will happen is 2 of Chabot / Chychrun / Brannstrom are moved out.
And then 1 or 2 defensive minded right shot defencemen like Chris Tanev or Dylan DeMelo are brought in.
Then we see if the goaltending from Forsberg and Korpisalo improves in any way next season.
If it doesn't, then Forsberg disappears as a UFA in 2025.

Realistic Next Year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sens2030</b></div><div>I would take Ullmark for Chychrun. Sens need stability in the crease desperately. This trade works for both teams with extensions. I wouldn't give a 2nd too, maybe a prospect or lower pick. JBD or Jarventie or 3rdFLA/4th.</div></div>
Ullmark for Chychrun would make sense if these two things happen:
1. We found a way to move out either Forsberg or Korpisalo.
2. Ullmark signs an extension with Ottawa.

2023-2024 NHL Discussion Thread #5: The Final Stretch
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CantStopWontStop</b></div><div>Anybody have a guess on Chychrun’s trade value and next contract?
Revisiting his last trade, he went for a sub 16 draft pick (unknown at time and top 5 protected), a 2nd, and a 2nd 2 years later.
I’m finding him very comparable to Vince Dunn and his 4 year, 7.35AAV, and acquiring him gets you next season at his current aav of 4.6.
I wonder if Ottawa gets back “more” than they paid, primarily because Chychrun played all 82 games this past season, and the acquiring team would be extending at the time of trade. I think they can flip him for more.
I dunno if my blues would be involved but the left side of our d is going to change eventually, one way or the other.</div></div>
Obviously, I'm biased about Chychrun's trade value, but I acknowledge that there's a distinct possibility we might get less than what we paid for him.
With that said, any trade for Chychrun should be about saving face.
I think an acceptable return on Chychrun would be a 1st + two 2nds, regardless of how high the 1st is.
It doesn't have to be #12 overall and it can even be #32 overall.
I also think that something like what Calgary got for Noah Hanifin as a pending UFA at the trade deadline would be acceptable.
A 1st + a conditional 2nd + a big right shot depth defenceman with a low cap hit.
As for what Chychrun might sign for, anywhere between 6.5 million and 8 million on an 8 year deal is well within his reach.

Blackhawks 2024 draft pick(s) update needed
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>the1tab</b></div><div>CapFriendly is still showing the Blackhawks as owning Calgary's 5th round pick in 2024. That pick is going to Toronto as part of the Jake McCabe/Sam Lafferty trade.
CapFriendly is not showing the Blackhawks owning Nashville's 5th round pick in 2024. They received that pick for Anthony Beauvillier on March 7, 2024.</div></div>
That's because Toronto receives whichever 5th round pick is the lowest.
Between Chicago, Calgary and Nashville, the Nashville 5th is the lowest.
